North Korea’s foreign currency earnings have reached their highest levels since before sweeping sanctions were imposed in 2018 over its banned weapons programs, driven by cyber-heists and arms sales to Russia, US intelligence authorities said. North Korea earns at least $1 billion annually from its illicit cyber operations, which help fund its military and leader Kim Jong Un ’s push for ever more advanced missiles and nuclear capabilities, according to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Pyongyang has become increasingly sophisticated in circumventing security measures, the agency said in its annual report assessing worldwide threats. The country’s army of hackers is “focused on evading financial sanctions, stealing funds to support its military, and conducting cyber espionage to fill gaps in the regime’s weapons programs,” the report, released Wednesday, said. North Korea has for years mobilized IT workers, often based overseas, to launch cyberattacks on banks, businesses and state agencies in South Korea and elsewhere to steal money and classified military and industrial secrets. Read more: North Korean Hackers Used ChatGPT to Help Forge Deepfake ID “North Korea’s cyber program — combined with Pyongyang’s use of IT workers with falsified credentials to gain employment with unwitting companies — is sophisticated and agile, and North Korea is capable of conducting espionage, cybercrime, and cyber attacks,” the US assessment said. The report comes after a study estimated North Korea likely supplied weapons and troops worth as much as $14 billion to support Russian President Vladimir Putin ’s war against Ukraine. A rebound in North Korea’s foreign-currency earnings — alongside rising revenue from backing Russia’s war in Ukraine — shows sanctions are losing bite. It also underscores how Pyongyang has built resilient, hard-to-police revenue streams that sustain its economy and weapons programs despite restrictions. North Korea’s Economy Expands as Kim D...

shcherbak volodymyr/iStock via Getty Images Investment Thesis Given the current geopolitical environment around the Middle East area, I believe Lockheed Martin Corporation ( LMT ) is among one of the key defense players. I say this because global defense spending continues to grow amid geopolitical uncertainty, as noted by IISS . ...while growth in some regions seems to have moderated, the upward trend in global defense spending continued in 2025. And this was driven by uplifts in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and North Africa... So, why does Lockheed Martin stand out? This is because, by the end of 2025, LMT had a backlog of $194Bn, which was about 2.5x its annual revenue . Of course, in my opinion, this gives a long runway for future revenue visibility. And what is important is that backlog is not just theoretical demand. But rather, it is a link to some of the most critical military systems in the world today. These include equipment such as the F-35 fighter program, PAC-3 missile defense system, THAAD interceptors, and next-generation missile-tracking satellites. Obviously, these are programs that the US government continues to prioritize y/y, given that the US Department of War and LMT signed a 7-year framework agreement. As of writing this, the US-Israel <> Iran war was entering day 17. And it is important to mention that as of this piece, the US was shifting THAAD missile defence systems from South Korea to the Middle East. Now, to me this means that the stockpile that was initially set aside for the war is diminishing. The decision to shift the systems is also an indicator of the extent of losses of key radar and missile defense systems and the sustained intensity of Iranian counterattacks. So what does this mean for Lockheed Martin? In my opinion, think about it this way. Missiles are not like groceries, where the shelves can be fully stocked within a short period of time. I would say that it is closer to a wartime logistics chain. When systems like THAA...

(RTTNews) - German specialty chemicals company Lanxess AG (LNXSF.PK) reported Thursday wider net loss in its fourth quarter as sales were hit by weak demand amid high levels of geopolitical uncertainty. For fiscal 2026, the company expects to see positive momentum in the second half of the year at the earliest. Further, LANXESS has launched additional cost-cutting measures for 2026, including plans to cut 550 additional jobs, about two-thirds of them in Germany. The company aims to generate permanent annual savings of around 100 million euros by the end of 2028. In the fourth quarter, net loss was 398 million euros, compared to loss of 64 million euros last year. Loss per share was 4.61 euros, compared to prior year's loss of 0.74 euro. Adjusted earnings per share were 0.37 euro, compared to 0.21 euro last year. EBITDA pre exceptionals decreased 35.8 percent to 102 million euros from 159 million euros in the previous year. The EBITDA margin pre exceptionals was 8 percent, compared with 10.7 percent in the prior year. Sales fell 14.5 percent to 1.27 billion euros from 1.48 billion euros last year. The lower results were primarily driven by persistently weak demand in nearly all customer industries, coupled with correspondingly lower sales volumes. Looking ahead for fiscal 2026, Lanxess expects EBITDA pre exceptionals to be between 450 million euros and 550 million euros, compared to 510 million euros in fiscal 2025. Matthias Zachert, LANXESS CEO, said, "2025 was an extremely tough year for the entire chemical industry and for LANXESS as well. For 2026, we expect to see positive momentum in the second half of the year at the earliest, for example through the German government's infrastructure stimulus program." President Donald Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) into law in July 2025. It included plenty of tax cuts and social program changes, including a $1,000 benefit for babies born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028. This $1,000 isn't like a stimulus check that the government sends directly to your bank account. Instead, it goes to a tax-advantaged account, called a "Trump Account." The account works similarly to a traditional IRA in that investments grow tax-deferred, but the child will owe taxes on withdrawals when eligible (in the calendar year they turn 18). Unfortunately, the Trump Account isn't automatically created for eligible children. You have to opt into it and request the initial $1,000 investment provided by the government. Claiming the $1,000 for the Trump Account The most straightforward way to get started with your child's Trump Account is by filling out the IRS-provided Form 4547. The form is fairly simple and requests information like your address, your Social Security number along with your child's Social Security number, and a box to opt in for the account. The IRS says it expects online enrollment to begin by the middle of this year. After you fill out the form, the Treasury will send you instructions to complete the authentication process and activate your child's account. It says it expects these instructions to come out in May. How beneficial can the Trump Account be? Anytime you can give a child a financial head start by setting them on their investment journey, it's a good thing. Even a relatively modest $1,000 initial investment can grow to a meaningful amount of money over many years. As an example, let's assume you only invest the initial $1,000 and it earns an average of 10% annual returns over the years (the long-term S&P 500 average). Below is how much that $1,000 investment would grow to in different numbers of years: Age Account Value 18 $5,560 21 $7,400 25 $10,835 30 $17,449 40 $45,259 These amounts will inevitably dep...

(RTTNews) - Formycon AG (FYB.DE, FYBGF), an independent German biotechnology company, on Thursday announced that it entered into a settlement and license agreement with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (REGN) and Bayer Aktiengesellschaft (BAYN.DE, BAYRY). The agreement secures a May 2026 launch date for its aflibercept 2 mg biosimilar FYB203 in Europe and other key markets and resolves all related patent disputes. Market launches by commercialization partners across Europe are scheduled to begin in May 2026. The agreement concluded alongside license partner Klinge Biopharma GmbH, covers Europe as well as key markets in Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. The settlement fully resolves all pending patent litigations related to the EU-approved Eylea 2 mg biosimilars AHZANTIVE and Baiama. The company had previously secured a U.S. license date for FYB203 in the fourth quarter of 2026 under a separate agreement with Regeneron. AHZANTIVE and Baiama have been approved by the European Medicines Agency for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration and other serious retinal diseases. The biosimilars contain aflibercept, which inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor, a driver of abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina that can lead to severe vision impairment. On Wednesday, FYB.DE closed trading 0.10% lesser at EUR 19.82 on the XETRA.
