Yagi Studio/DigitalVision via Getty Images Add another drone company to the bunch With the Trump Administration's emphasis on drones for both defensive and offensive kinetic warfare, a wave of drone companies has come to the market chasing government contracts. Over $1.1 billion of future government contracts from the US alone are out there on the table, which is significant for a Defense sub-sector with quite a large number of small and mid-cap companies fighting for position. Aevex Corp (Nasdaq: AVEX ) is another in a pool of US based Defense based drone companies to IPO in April of this year after being backed by Madison Dearborn Partners on the private market. The stock initially soared and is now off quite a bit from the high mark: Data by YCharts This is a unique IPO in that it is one of the few profitable drone companies that investors can gain access to. They are also a roll-up, having acquired various companies in the space along the way before the initial public offering. Amongst those drone companies that have come to market recently, this is a common trait. IPO The company was reported to have raised a bit over $300 million during the IPO and now sits at a total market cap of $1.633 billion. Data by YCharts What Aevex does AEVEX investor relations The main, and most profitable segment is the EUCOM deep strike program. EUCOM would pertain to operations in and around Eastern Europe in the Russia/Ukraine theater. Right now, CENTCOM gets all the news highlight reels in the Persian Gulf conflict with Iran, but the biggest war is still raging near old Soviet borderlines. This drone company touts itself as being battle tested, with the deep strike program and their products such as the Phoenix Ghost, which is a loitering munitions system, from my understanding. This company, in my opinion, shares a lot of similarities with AeroVironment ( AVAV ). Both are battle-tested on the Russia/Ukraine battle front. Both have loitering munitions systems. Both have positive...

Finally, economists at Macquarie wrote in a note this morning that crude oil’s muted reaction to the closure of Hormuz has mainly been a function of the oversupply seen before the war, . The analysts suggested that “ the market will be ok for another month or two, especially given commercial crude stocks have been cushioned by SPR/product draws." However, if the Strait remains closed at the end of the northern summer (Labor Day is Sept. 7), physical availability will tighten materially. “If the Strait reopens soon, we expect pr...

JHVEPhoto/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Shares of Sherwin-Williams ( SHW ) rose 1.7% Wednesday after the company and Nippon Paint Holdings ( NPCPF ) ( NPPHY ) said they had ended efforts to jointly acquire Dutch coatings maker AkzoNobel ( AKZOF ) ( AKZOY ), bringing a brief takeover pursuit to a close. The companies said they had decided to discontinue their acquisition plans after AkzoNobel rejected both of their joint all-cash proposals. No financial terms were disclosed in Wednesday's announcement. The decision removes a potential source of uncertainty for investors following recent speculation that a breakup of AkzoNobel's businesses could reshape the global paints and coatings industry. For Sherwin-Williams shareholders, the announcement suggests management will avoid a potentially large acquisition that could have required significant capital commitments and integration efforts. It also leaves the company free to pursue alternative growth opportunities while maintaining focus on its existing operations and shareholder returns. Earlier this year, Nippon Paint and Sherwin-Williams disclosed that they had proposed a recommended public offer for AkzoNobel, following an initial approach in April. The proposal would have divided AkzoNobel's operations between the two buyers. Under the proposed structure, Nippon Paint would have acquired AkzoNobel's decorative paints and industrial coatings businesses, while Sherwin-Williams would have taken control of the company's marine and protective coatings, automotive and specialty coatings and powder coatings operations. At the time, the companies argued the transaction offered strategic benefits for both parties. Nippon Paint said the deal would strengthen its decorative paints portfolio and reunify the Dulux brand under a single owner, while Sherwin-Williams said the acquisition would expand its position in several specialized coatings markets where it has a smaller presence. AkzoNobel had previously entered into an all...

Monty Rakusen/DigitalVision via Getty Images Introduction AAR ( AIR ) is, in our view, one of the names that best captures the structural opportunity in the independent aerospace aftermarket. Q3 FY26 results combined with the May 12 Investor Day reinforced that view. The company reported Q3 results that beat consensus on both the top and bottom lines. Total sales of $845M grew 25% YoY, and adjusted EPS of $1.25 came in 8% above the $1.15 sell-side number. The stock has been in a 12-month uptrend (up roughly 70% YoY) and trades at $110 as of the last close, well below the analyst average target of $131. We think the consensus number understates the FY27 earnings power that the HAECO recovery and Trax software ramp bring through. The platform that AAR has built over the last several years is structurally stronger than the market currently appreciates, and we believe that the multiple still does not reflect that strength. AIR Price Action (Seeking Alpha) This article will review the Q3 results, walk through the strategic repositioning that AAR has been executing, and lay out our valuation framework for the company. Strong Q3 With Distribution Driving Most Of The Growth We think the most important data point of Q3 is the 36% organic growth in new parts distribution and the 55% organic growth in government distribution. Total Q3 sales came at $845M (up 25% YoY), with 14% organic adjusted growth, and the balance came from ADI and HAECO Americas. Parts Supply was the biggest contributor, with sales up 45% to $392.5M. Segment adjusted EBITDA came at $58.5M (up 59%), which takes margin to 14.9% from 13.6% a year ago. ADI continues to exceed expectations for the second consecutive quarter, and the CEO mentioned on the call that ADI's adjusted margins are favorable to the overall margins of the company. AAR Q3 Results (AAR Q3 FY26 Earnings Presentation) The segment lines below Parts Supply tell a more mixed story. Repair & Engineering revenue grew 23% to $265M, while segment a...

Medline ( MDLN ) shares slipped for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday after the FDA issued a warning letter regarding several manufacturing lapses at a company’s production facility in Illinois. The letter addressed to Medline ( MDLN ) CEO Jim Boyle followed violations of Current Good Manufacturing Practices for pharmaceutical products found at the company's Waukegan, Illinois, facility during an FDA inspection in October last year. The violations included failure to investigate lapses in manufacturing standards and separate specific areas within manufacturing operations to prevent potential contamination. The letter dated June 2 followed another FDA warning letter Medline ( MDLN ) received in March regarding violations related to the production of its NAMIC Angiographic Control Syringes at a New York site in December. “You should immediately and comprehensively assess your company’s global manufacturing operations to ensure that systems, processes, and the products manufactured conform to FDA requirements,” the agency said. Medline ( MDLN ) has 15 working days to respond, detailing the actions it has taken to address the violations. The FDA threatened to take regulatory actions, including a pause in issuing export certificates, if the company fails to take remedial measures. Medline ( MDLN ) did not immediately respond to a request for comments. More on Medline Inc. Medline Inc. 2026 Q1 - Results - Earnings Call Presentation Medline Inc.
