It's been a rough week to own Micron (NASDAQ: MU) stock. Beginning with a powerful earnings report ( that strangely failed to wow investors ) one week ago, Micron stock has been sliding for six straight sessions. Shares of the computer memory-maker's most recent trouble began Wednesday, when news broke that Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOG) has developed new compression technology that shrinks memory size six times while increasing performance and data recall. Worries that this would reduce demand for Micron's high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips subtracted 3.4% from Micron's market capitalization yesterday. The stock is down another 4.2% through 9:50 a.m. ET today. Continue reading

Earnings Call Insights: 22nd Century Group (XXII) Q4 2025 Management View CEO Lawrence Firestone presented 2025 as a transition year, emphasizing the closure of legacy business issues, reduction in manufacturing overhead, and the payoff of all structured debt. He highlighted the launch of new brands and products, stating, “We are now in the market with our VLN combustible cigarette products and smoking consumers are finding our products in 1,636 retail outlets in 23 states.” Firestone indicated a strategic focus on expanding distribution and forming partnerships, noting, “We welcome other brands to join the battle and introduce a VLN concept within their own brands… they could license our VLN brand and use it within their brand lineup.” Firestone described regulatory advances, including the MRTP renewal application filed with the FDA in December 2025, and discussed ongoing international dialogues. Looking ahead, Firestone announced, “We now have over $10 million in cash on the balance sheet to implement our strategy” and outlined plans to add distribution points in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and California, as well as the launch of Pinnacle Pure, a new tobacco and water style cigarette. CFO Daniel Otto reported, “During the year, we exited several unprofitable high-volume revenue streams and focused our resources on building the foundation for growth in our reduced nicotine VLN cigarette portfolio and partner VLN brands.” Otto added, “In the fourth quarter of 2025, we shipped approximately 8,800 cartons of newly branded VLN and partner VLN to our customers… These products remain central to our strategy as they typically generate gross profit margin in the range of 20% to 30%.” Outlook Management projects revenue to remain consistent in Q1 2026 before sequential growth as additional distribution points are added. Otto stated, “We estimate increasing current store count by more than double by the end of 2026.” Firestone referenced the plan to expand marketing and tr...

Humanoid robots could be one of the best automation growth opportunities in the next 10 years, and a handful of companies are set to be the winners amid the boom, according to Jefferies. Three drivers are ushering in this new era of robotics, the firm said: an aging population increasing demand for supplemental labor, declining interest among younger generations in manufacturing jobs and continuing breakthroughs in semiconductor and artificial intelligence technology. "Humanity appears to be on the precipice of wider adoption of humanoid automatons," Jefferies wrote in a Wednesday research note. "While we anticipate the earlier adoption will be in commercial settings, where [return on investment] is clearly defined, global demographics, safety concerns and the desirability of certain jobs will prompt wide-spread adoption." Analysts at the firm shared a list of companies they believe can benefit from the technology's development and adoption: Making the list is Tesla , where analyst Philippe Houchois has a hold rating and a $300 price target. Elon Musk's electric vehicle manufacturer has touted its recent pivot toward building humanoid robots , but Houchois noted that the company has also given few specific details about it. "Large-scale applications remain ill-defined for the broader robotics industry, suggesting uncertainty about the commercial viability and market timing," Houchois wrote. But he added Tesla's advantage may come from its head start and size. "Tesla's edge could lie in early applications through its own manufacturing facilities and its design-to-manufacture approach… Importantly, and unlike many peers, Tesla can self-fund developments in AI, Optimus robots and stationary storage," the analyst said Analyst Chris LaFemina said that 70% of the weight of humanoid robots comes from metal. He thinks Freeport McMoRan's exposure to copper, Alcoa's to aluminum, and Nucor's to steel could mean these companies have growth opportunities as demand for these comm...

TruePixelArt/iStock via Getty Images Deere & Company ( DE ) has been one surprising winner over the first few months of the 2026 calendar year. With shares down 9% over the past month, I believe DE’s performance and outlook are worth a revisit. DE has gained in part because of the rotation away from tech-related names that have been viewed as at risk of obsolescence from AI-related changes. These names include software stocks like Adobe ( ADBE ), which is down over 30% YTD and trading at historically low levels. I’ve viewed these declines very opportunistically and have provided bullish coverage on many of these beaten-down software names. Shares in DE, on the other hand, are enjoying the positive momentum from the rotation. The stock is up 20% over the past year 25% YTD, and shares are sitting at the upper end of its 52-week range. Seeking Alpha - YTD Share Price Performance Of DE Stock Times are good, for sure. While I view the outlook ahead as positive, I believe investors could benefit from waiting for a more attractive entry point as opposed to chasing the current momentum. DE Stock Key Metrics Shares currently are trading at a 32x forward multiple . That’s a steep multiple, in my view. The sector average is about 19x, and DE’s own historical average is around there as well. In addition, DE’s current price is nearly 4x sales. That’s about double the ratio for the sector average and well above DE’s range. Seeking Alpha - Valuation Metrics Of DE Stock It’s not a surprise to me that DE grades poorly on valuation by Seeking Alpha’s (“SA”) quant scores. Some, however, would argue that the premium is justified, especially given DE’s relative insulation to AI-based change, as well as its own leveraging of the tool to further its own business. Though the stock is relatively undercovered by the broader SA community, those that have provided coverage have skewed bullish according to the listed metrics. I would say, however, that most of the recent coverage has been neutr...

Yurchello108 Analog Devices ( ADI ) and Microchip ( MCHP ) may still provide outperformance even as the analog chip market rebounds, Cantor Fitzgerald said. “The overarching takeaway ... optimism in the cyclical recovery is rising,” Cantor Fitzgerald analysts wrote in a note to clients. “Customer orders are trending positively. Lead times are extending in spots. And the pricing backdrop is favorable. So, while this has been an industry marred with head fakes and 2H optimism for 2-3 [years] now (leading to meaningful underperformance for the group vs. the SOX over the same timeframe), signals are seemingly turning more positive and there is a view that we are now finally on the other side of the cycle.” Ahead of the first-quarter results. Cantor Fitzgerald analysts said there is the potential for Analog Devices and Microchip to outperform. “For ADI, we expect a slight beat/raise, with focus on outsized AI-related/ADEF exposure supporting continued upside for shares,” the analysts explained. “For MCHP, we see solid upside to numbers with [management] bulled up on both cyclical and structural dynamics – also, greater end-market transparency next [quarter] could be a sneaky catalyst.” For Texas Instruments ( TXN ), the analysts don't expect a repeat of last quarter's strong results, while they said NXP Semiconductors ( NXPI ) is the firm's favorite value name. Conversely, the firm said there is “downside risk” to Onsemi ( ON ), citing several business exits and overexposure to the automotive market. One Day Until Trump's Self‑Imposed 5-Day Deadline On Iran But Markets Appear Increasingly Numb By Molly Schwartz, Cross Asset Macro Strategist at Rabobank More persistent inflation Yesterday, Iran rejected the US-proposed 15-point plan, instead laying out its own conditions in a 5-point plan ; (1) halt the killing of Iranian officials; (2) means to make sure no other war is wage against it; (3) reparations for the war; (4) an end to all hostilities; and (5) Iran’s “exercise of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.” The probability that Washington would accept these terms in exchange for a ceasefire is roughly equal to the likelihood that Tehran would have accepted the original US proposal…zero. Against that backdrop, the clock on Trump’s self‑imposed five‑day deadline continues to tick down. The relative calm in markets suggests some investor confidence that hostilities may eventually wind down, however slim that prospect remains. Still, even a “diplomatic” resolution at this stage would carry material costs for both the US and Israel. We have repeatedly argued that the Iranian regime’s overriding objective is survival; a negotiated outcome that leaves it intact (see Venezuela) in effect constitutes a strategic defeat. As Michael Every and Ben Picton put it here , “ If we see a US and Israeli defeat…Trumpism will suffer both electorally and geopolitically: its grand macro strategy will unravel, to China’s advantage.” US Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt yesterday announced that JD Vance may be headed for Pakistan on Friday to continue negotiations, but if diplomacy fails, Trump has at least partial backing from NATO. Mark Rutte said the President was “doing this to make the whole world safe,” and argued that it is “ only logical” for European countries to take a couple of weeks to coordinate naval deployments to the Strait of Hormuz following Washington’s request. Not all European leaders are aligned, however, with officials in Germany, Italy, and Spain stressing th...

US states that have legalized sports betting have seen a rise in delinquency rates on consumer credit products and a decrease in credit scores, according to a new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Among people under 40 — the main demographic for sports betting — the share who were at least 90 days late on a credit card payment rose 7.9% after legalization, an analysis of consumer credit data found. For people in that age group, auto loan delinquencies increased by 5.6%, according to the paper by Jacob Goss, a former research analyst at the New York Fed, and Daniel Mangrum, a research economist at the bank. “Our findings suggest that sports betting can have dramatic implications for household financial stability,” the authors wrote this week. The study offers the latest evidence of the financial fallout from the 2018 Supreme Court decision that allowed states to legalize sports betting. Since then, access to gambling has expanded dramatically and Americans have wagered over $520 billion on sports, researchers have estimated. Over the past year, an even broader audience has gained access to sports betting through prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket, which offer yes-or-no event contracts on professional and college games even in states that haven’t legalized gambling. Read More: Bets on Maduro, Jesus Show Promise and Risks of Prediction Boom Customers may be losing even more money on prediction market platforms, per dollar wagered, than they do on sports gambling apps, according to recent research from an analyst at Citizens . The authors of the new study do not address the rise of prediction markets. Instead, they used the staggered roll out of state-sanctioned gambling over the past decade to compare how household finances looked before and after legalization. Only a small percentage of people, some 3.1%, take up active sports betting after legalization, but for those who do, the effect is significant enough that it shows up in the ...
