Bloomberg Daybreak Europe is your essential morning viewing to stay ahead. On today's show, US President Trump is insisting that Iran is negotiating and desperate to make a deal to end the war, even as Tehran publicly rejects Washington's outreach and issues conditions of its own. President Trump will travel to China for a summit with President Xi Jinping between May 14-15. Asked if that means Trump will look to wind down the war by then, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration has “always estimated approximately four-to-six weeks” for the conflict. The wars in Iran and Ukraine are expected to dominate today's meeting of G-7 Foreign Ministers in France. Ministers from Kyiv, India and Saudi Arabia are also expected to join the talks, as the group tries to narrow its differences over the Middle East war. Denmark’s central bank warned the domestic economy could take a significant hit if the conflict in the Middle East drags on, urging caution on public spending as government negotiations get underway. Nationalbanken cut its 2026 growth outlook to 1.8%, down from 2% forecast in September. It also flagged “significant risks” to the outlook, warning that growth could take a 0.7 percentage point hit this year in a scenario where oil and gas supplies from the Persian Gulf remain restricted. In such a scenario, inflation could rise to 4.5% this year, from the 1.8% currently forecast, the central bank said. Read More: Danish Coalition-Building Talks Start as Premier Gets First Stab The warning comes just days after Denmark held a general election, with coalition talks having now begun to shape the next government’s policy agenda. The central bank cautioned that “new policy initiatives could put pressure on public finances,” noting that a permanent increase in defense spending is already set to absorb most of Denmark’s financial headroom. “The incoming government should exercise caution in fully spending the available fiscal space,” the central bank said, adding that revenues could turn out to be smaller than estimated. It comes after Denmark’s public finances have surged in recent years, allowing lawmakers to increase spending without having to raise taxes or loosen the country’s traditionally strict fiscal rules. Strong tax revenues — driven in large part by the success of companies such as Novo Nordisk A/S — have swelled state coffers and and led authorities to repeatedly raise revenue estimates.
