When Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) stock reaches a $1 trillion valuation, many investors assume the easy money has already been made. That is a reasonable concern. After all, a trillion-dollar company needs to create an enormous amount of value to deliver strong returns from here. But investors may be asking the wrong question. The real question is not whether Micron has become too large. The real question is whether artificial intelligence has transformed memory from a commodity into one of the world's most important bottlenecks. The answer could determine whether Micron's best days are behind it -- or still ahead. Continue reading

Moussa81/iStock via Getty Images SSR Mining ( SSRM ) down 1.9% in Wednesday's trading as precious metal prices fell, but RBC Capital upgraded shares to Outperform from Sector Perform with a $40 price target, saying strategic transactions to effectively exit Turkey have transitioned it to a lower jurisdiction risk, Canada- and U.S.-focused company. Canada and the U.S. now represent 88% of SSR Mining's ( SSRM ) total net asset value and 79% of EBITDA following the miner's two major transactions this year, the $1.5B divestiture of Copler and the conversion of a 20% equity interest in Hod Maden to a 4% royalty, both set to close in Q3. RBC analysts John Wolfson and John Robertson project SSR ( SSRM ) will maintain more than $2B in net cash as of Q3, representing nearly one-third of market cap and providing the company with significant financial flexibility, and see shares as discounted with capital allocation updates as driving further upside to shares. Given SSR's ( SSRM ) significant free cash flow, valuation, and prior actions such as Q2's $300M share buyback), Wolfson and Robertson believe return of capital will remain a company priority and would be accretive at current prices; a higher share price could shift SSR's calculus to growth or M&A, but the analysts see current prices as undervaluing the probability of accretive capital allocation. Special, secretive operation will ship 11th-century artwork across Channel without jolts, bumps or shakes As the Bayeux tapestry wends its way across the Channel in a top secret operation there will be no jolts, no bumps, no shakes or vibrations – unlike the voyage of William the Conqueror whose 1066 victory at Hastings the artefact recounts. “Nothing has been left to chance,” Catherine Pégard, the French minister of culture told a gathering to mark the historic loan, which will be physically achieved with the tapestry, which is really an embroidery, transported in a specially constructed cradle within a container, the minister said. Latest Fed Beige Book Underscores "K-Shaped" Split Of US Economy Economic activity increased at a "slight to moderate" pace for ten of the twelve Federal Reserve Districts, while one District reported a slight decline and one reported no change, according to the latest Fed Beige Book. The just released Beige Book - prepared at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City based on information collected on or before May 27, 2026, and is the second one to capture the effect of the war on the US economy - found that consumer spending remained mixed across districts and increasingly bifurcated across income groups amid affordability pressures, the latest confirmation of the K-shaped economy . In keeping with an increasingly fractured economy, the anecdotes highlighted moments of weakness that indicated far more weakness that the headline assessment indicated, to wit: higher-income households remained resilient and less sensitive to price increase, while middle-income households were described as “squeezing more life out of every dollar before deciding to spend it,” and low-income consumers showed greater financial strain. Said strain led to reports of increased credit card usage, fewer retail visits, and stronger demand for necessities. Auto dealers reported softer new vehicle demand tied to affordability and fuel costs, alongside substitution toward used and hybrid vehicles. By contrast, manufacturing activity increased at a modest to strong pace for nine of the Districts and only one noted a slight decline from the previous period. Banking conditions were stable across most Districts; however, residential mortgages, consumer, and agricultural loan delinquencies were noted as rising in several of the Districts. Agriculture conditions were unchanged or declined for most of the Districts, with cost pressures intensifying from fuel and fertilizer spikes. Energy activity increased in two of the markets, but Districts reported that the outlook remains highly uncertain leading pro...

Rob Daly/OJO Images via Getty Images Investment Thesis Oportun Financial Corporation ( OPRT ) is a subprime consumer specialty finance company that trades at a compelling discount to its peer group. Shares trade at less than a 3.0x P/E multiple on the consensus EPS estimate of $1.89 for 2027. With a new CEO having joined the Company earlier in Q2-26, Oportun appears to be at an inflection point to the upside operationally. While we had a favorable view of prior CEO Raul Vazquez given the turnaround under his leadership over the past couple of years, we think refreshed leadership under Doug Bland is a reason for investors to consider OPRT. The compelling valuation, a substantial discount to peers, de-risks the stock for perceived near-term macroeconomic challenges. We think OPRT shares should trade at least at a 5x multiple and therefore have a 12-month $10 price target based on our above-consensus $1.95 adjusted EPS estimate for 2027. We believe OPRT shares are priced at a very favorable risk/reward profile. Data by YCharts Company Overview According to its May 2026 investor presentation , Oportun provides "intelligent borrowing and savings capabilities to help our members build a better financial future." Products OPRT offers both unsecured and secured personal loan products, as well as an app named Set & Save designed to help customers build their savings. The primary difference between the unsecured and secured personal loans is that the latter is secured by the borrower's automobile title. From a consumer perspective, the benefits include an average loan more than double ($6,607 versus $3,360), the 8 additional months of duration on average, and a 280 basis point lower APR (35.8% versus 33.0%). Given the modest APR discount for secured loans and the inherent adverse selection by an applicant who selects the unsecured option, we expect Oportun will continue to strategically prioritize secured loan originations. Responsibly Structured Credit Products (Oportun Inve...
