Chinese autonomous driving company DeepRoute.ai is considering an initial public offering in Hong Kong, people familiar with the matter said, joining a growing list of tech firms selling shares in the Asian hub. DeepRoute filed listing documents confidentially in Hong Kong late last year and is seeking to raise several hundred million dollars, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The company is working with financial advisers, but the timing of an IPO isn’t fixed, they added. A representative for DeepRoute declined to comment. While Beijing is clamping down on listings by some companies to improve transparency and compliance, Hong Kong has a strong flow of deals, particularly in areas such as AI that are deemed strategically important. Recent examples include Baidu Inc.-backed startup BioMap Beijing Intelligent Technology Co. filing confidentially for a Hong Kong IPO, and Earendil Labs also considering a listing . Two AI standouts this year are MiniMax Group Inc. and Knowledge Atlas Technology JSC Ltd., known as Zhipu, which have both surged around 500% since their January debuts. By filing confidentially like DeepRoute, firms can limit public scrutiny and avoid disclosing trade secrets prematurely. Details are made public after regulators approve listings. The Hong Kong stock exchange has started consulting the market on potentially expanding the confidential-filing option. Read More: Hong Kong Confidential Filings Are Becoming Common: ECM Watch Founded in 2019, DeepRoute says it has raised more than $700 million over the years from investors including Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. and Great Wall Motor Co. It has said it aims to have 1 million vehicles equipped with its autonomous driving platform this year, up from around 250,000 at the end of 2025. DeepRoute operates three businesses on a unified technical platform — consumer vehicles, robotaxis and RoadAGI, which is designed to understand complex environments a...

Isabel Infantes | Reuters Pop Mart shares lost more than a fifth of their value on Wednesday, as concerns over the sustainability of the company's Labubu plushies-driven growth overshadowed its blockbuster annual results. That sharp sell-off came after the Beijing-based toy maker posted annual revenue of 37.1 billion yuan ($5.4 billion) for 2025, up 185% from a year earlier, just shy of LSEG estimates of 38 billion yuan. Net income more than quadrupled to 12.8 billion yuan, slightly above the 12.6 billion yuan forecast. Despite resilient headline numbers, "a material slowdown in the fourth quarter [has amplified] investors' concern on the durability of top IP's popularity," said Jeff Zhang, equity analyst at Morningstar, adding that a pullback in dividend payout ratio to 25% in 2025 from 35% in the prior year was also a negative factor. Stock Chart Icon Stock chart icon Pop Mart International Labubu, the snaggle-toothed monster doll that became a global collectible phenomenon, has remained the company's primary growth engine. But Pop Mart's chances of replicating that success with newer characters such as Skullpanda and Twinkle Twinkle have come under investor scrutiny with the momentum that drove a massive rally in the stock over the past two years beginning to fade. Sales from Skullpanda more than doubled to 3.54 billion yuan, and those for Crybaby and Dimoo each roughly tripled. But The Monsters — the IP family that houses Labubu — still contributed a larger share of 38% to the total annual revenue, compared with 23% in 2024. Twinkle Twinkle and Hirono, newer additions to the roster, generated 2.06 billion yuan and 1.74 billion yuan, respectively, substantially lower compared with The Monster family sales of $14.2 billion yuan. More than three weeks of unrelenting US and Israeli airstrikes have severely weakened Tehran’s military, but what remains of its vast missile arsenal is being used more efficiently from hard-to-reach bases in eastern Iran. In the latest example, strikes over the weekend against Israel injured more than 100. Targets included the city of Dimona, home to the country’s main nuclear research facility, and most likely involved Khorramshahr missiles, which have among the longest ranges and heaviest payloads in Iran’s arsenal, said Decker Eveleth, a research analyst at CNA Corp., a not-for-profit research and analysis organization in Washington, DC. The US and Israel have estimated they have destroyed about two-thirds of Iran’s missile launchers, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says the regime’s offensive capability has been reduced by 90%. Still, Tehran has continued to hit targets around the Gulf, with more than 1,200 ballistic missiles and at least 3,300 Shahed rudimentary cruise missiles so far. Kelly Grieco, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center, said analysis of open-source strike data such as videos, images and announcements seemed to show a sharp increase in how effective those attacks have been after about March 10 — with as many as a quarter of missiles getting through. She cautioned that the picture could change as better information became available. “A degraded Iran firing fewer and better aimed missiles and drones at carefully selected, fixed targets is getting more effective at imposing costs,” Grieco said. “In terms of how many are getting through, the trajectory is moving in the wrong direction.” An Israeli estimate put Iran’s arsenal at up to 2,500 ballistic missiles before the war started Feb. 28. US and Israeli strikes have taken aim at those stockpiles while also prioritizing the destruction of launchers to prevent using whatever missiles remain. The number of ballistic missiles fired at Gulf targets has stabilized at an average of about 21 a day ove...

Europe’s energy sector has room to extend its outperformance versus the broader market as investors are only beginning to price in a structural shift in supply risks amid war in the Middle East, according to analysts at Morgan Stanley. Analysts led by Martijn Rats upgraded their stance on the sector to attractive from in-line. They said that while oil and gas price shocks stir inflation, tend to push interest rates higher and are a headwind for economic growth and equities in general, they benefit energy stocks. That divergence has been visible since the start of war in Iran, with the Stoxx 600 down 8.6% while its energy sector sub-index has advanced 10% since the end of February. Morgan Stanley analysts, while cautioning that the move carries downside risks after the rally, see the macro backdrop continuing to favor the sector over other parts of the market. “The recent relative rally still has further to run,” the analysts wrote. “The market is only beginning to price a lasting change in energy security, effective spare capacity and the value of secure supply.” Morgan Stanley analysts upgraded BP Plc and Repsol SA to overweight, citing their stronger leverage to a higher-for-longer oil and gas environment and improved scope for shareholder returns as cash flows rise. They turned more cautious on more defensive stocks, with Shell Plc downgraded to equal-weight, reflecting more limited upside in a rising price environment.

Gabon is mobilizing $200 million from the likes of Bezos Earth Fund to help protect at least 30% of its terrestrial, fresh-water and marine ecosystems by 2030. Gabon is part of the Congo Basin that’s the biggest global green lung after the Amazon. The vast rain forest houses wildlife and fauna, including 60% of the remaining critically endangered forest elephants, according to the United Nations Development Programme. The Nature Conservancy is leading the fundraising effort that includes the World Wildlife Fund , the Pew Charitable Trusts and ZomaLab, according to Ademola Ajagbe, its managing director for Africa. Three years ago, the Nature Conservancy helped arrange a $500 million debt-for-nature swap with Bank of America Corp. to refinance a portion of Gabon’s debt and raise money for marine conservation, the first such transaction on continental Africa. The technical details of the new funding pact known as Gabon Infini PFP have been concluded and presented to Gabon’s government, and now await the final signing, Ajagbe said. “A letter of intent to advance the Gabon Infini PFP has been signed,” he said, adding that the Nature Conservancy has contributed money into an independent trust fund that will manage the money raised. The funding will boost conservation efforts in Gabon, one of the few countries that is a net carbon sink, absorbing more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than it releases. The West African nation is one of the most forested countries globally, with almost 90% of its surface area covered by rain forests, according to the UNDP. The value of Gabon’s forest-ecosystem services almost doubled in the two decades to 2020 to $75.1 billion, mainly through carbon-retention services, according to a World Bank economic report published in June.
