AT&T (NYSE:T) , a provider of wireless, broadband, and fixed-line telecom services, closed Thursday at $25.11, up 4.32%. The stock moved higher after analyst upgrades and a strong fourth-quarter 2025 earnings report. CVR Energy ( CVI ) on Thursday said it priced a private placement of $600 million of 7.500% senior unsecured notes due 2031 and $400 million of 7.875% senior unsecured notes due 2034. The notes will be issued at par and are guaranteed on a senior unsecured basis by certain of the company’s domestic subsidiaries. The company intends to use the net proceeds, along with cash on hand and borrowings under its asset-based revolving credit facility, to repay its senior secured term loan, redeem all outstanding 8.500% senior notes due 2029, and redeem $217 million of 5.750% senior notes due 2028. The offering is expected to close on February 12, 2026, subject to customary conditions. We wrote about this last December when this activity first began, but it’s even more so today (technology stocks appear ready for another six-month advance) . This conclusion contradicts the forecast of the imminent popping of the tech bubble, which so many writers and analysts have made. Let me show you. Sentiment is Better at Forecasting Markets Than Valuations History has shown that valuation ratios are terrible at forecasting the market. Investors appear to be making that mistake again. Prices can stay overvalued for years before correcting. A far better tool is measuring investor sentiment or expectations. That’s what we specialize in. And right now our tools are saying that there are far too many investors who think this market is going down. The current levels of short selling and put buying are at levels that normally precede a strong rally. Let's first take a look at short selling.
