FangXiaNuo/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images As you can see below, JD.com ( JD ) has seen a miserable past 52 weeks. The stock has fallen more than 25% and based on a quick glance at the chart, it doesn't seem it's in a hurry to recover those losses. Today, we'll take a look at their financials and recent developments to see if there is significant fundamental opportunity in JD.com at current levels. The company did report earnings quite a while ago but at the same time, they're not reporting again until early March and so I believe initiating coverage now is still appropriate. Seeking Alpha Below, it is shown that JD.com's fundamentals are overall shaky with their margins getting weighed on by new businesses and cash flows being weak. While their push into logistics and other businesses may be a bit of a large gamble, it seems the company has adequate capital to buy time for these investments to payoff. Furthermore, with the valuation being at very depressed levels, I view the overall fundamental setup to be positive and so I'm initiating with a buy rating. Revenue Analysis Data by YCharts Firstly, before we start with an analysis of their revenues, note that USD figures differ slightly platform to platform due to exchange rate discrepancies but the overall picture should be the same. For 2025 Q3, JD.com reported net revenues of RMB229.1 billion or $42 billion. This represents a growth rate of around 15% and you can see in the above chart that while this is a deceleration from Q2, this growth rate is still very respectable relative to levels we have seen in the past few years. Therefore, while consumer confidence in China is still far below 2021 levels, the company has shown that business activity has signs of improvement. Note that they were also able to beat consensus by about $860 million and so their top line was much better than expected. JD.com Q3 Presentation While JD.com is of course product revenue dominated since it operates a large retail e-commerce pla...

North Korea is set to use its coming Workers’ Party congress to signal an escalation towards carrying out large-scale nuclear retaliation in the event of a conflict with the US, with analysts expecting Pyongyang to unveil plans centred on intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of striking American cities. The move was foreshadowed by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Tuesday, when he said he would announce next-phase plans to further strengthen the country’s “nuclear war deterrence capabilities”. While the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has yet to mention a date for the congress, a conference of the party’s central committee on Wednesday elected delegates to attend the meeting. This year started with a bang – from the United States’ intervention in Venezuela and the investigation opened against US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell to US President Donald Trump’s renewed claims on Greenland and the potential for US action following instability in Iran. Amid these crises, gold prices are now over US$5,500 per ounce, up over 27 per cent from the price on January 1. This comes after the price of gold jumped by 65 per cent in 2025 after soaring by 27 per cent in 2024. At such returns, why should one even consider bonds that yield 4 per cent per annum with possible foreign exchange depreciation or fiscal default? Advertisement The foreign exchange reserves of all central banks stood at around US$13 trillion in 2025, with official gold holdings at 36,000 tonnes. At the current gold price of US$5,500 per ounce, central banks’ gold value would be US$6.37 trillion, which would bring central bank reserves (including gold) to US$19.37 trillion. Thus, gold represents nearly 33 per cent of total reserves which in turn would be 16.5 per cent of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2025. The Trump administration’s policy gyrations and high levels of fiscal debt have caused major investors to reduce their dollar weighting in key portfolios, with the US dollar depreciating at least 6.4 per cent in real effective exchange rate terms in 2025. An example of high dollar exposure with no gold holdings is the largest sovereign wealth fund in the world, Norges Bank Investment Management, with US$2.1 trillion in assets, which held 53 per cent of its portfolio in US equities, bonds and real estate combined at the end of 2025. Norway is next door to Greenland. Advertisement With the Fed holding interest rates steady and the Trump administration pushing for lower rates, the outlook for global interest rates and inflation is murky at best. The market has been spooked by Trump’s call to increase defence expenditure to US$1.5 trillion by 2027, compared with US...

Key Points GitLab shares have been beaten down, despite consistent strong growth. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been viewed as a headwind, but it is more likely a tailwind. The stock is now trading at cheap levels. 10 stocks we like better than GitLab › One of the most beleaguered artificial intelligence (AI) stocks over the past two years has been GitLab (NASDAQ: GTLB). The share price fell more than 10% in 2024 and another 33% in 2025. However, 2026 could be the year the company proves the bears wrong. Strong results, but poor stock performance GitLab runs a DevSecOps (development, security, and operations) platform, which is a secure ecosystem for organizations to design software. More recently, it has been transforming itself more into an end-to-end software development life cycle (SDLC) platform that uses AI agents to not only help developers write code, but also help them throughout the entire software development process. Given that coders only spend about 20% of their time writing code, this is highly valuable. Where to invest $1,000 right now? The added value that the company's platform is providing is also one reason why it is switching to a new hybrid seat-plus-usage-based model. GitLab has been seeing strong growth, with revenue growth consistently between 25% and 35% for the past two years. The company's growth has come from both adding new customers and existing customers expanding. Over the past 12 months, it's had a 119% dollar-based net retention, led mostly by seat expansion, and to a lesser extent, customers upgrading to high-tier services. Overall, it's a fast-growing, sticky, high-gross-margin (around 80%) business. So, what has been the issue? The bears believe that AI in general is going to lead to fewer p...

Trump Sues US Treasury For $10 Billion Over Tax-Returns Leak In the latest sign that we're living in unusual times, the sitting president of the United States is suing the US Treasury and Internal Revenue Service -- both housed in his executive branch -- and asking to be paid at least $10 billion in compensation for "reputational and financial harm," according to a complaint first publicized Thursday. We're printing money willy-nilly -- so what's another $10 billion for Trump & Sons? The suit springs from the IRS's failure to maintain the confidentiality of President Trump's tax returns. Between 2018 and 2020, then-IRS consultant Charles E. Littlejohn stole Trump's tax files and handed them over to The New York Times and ProPublica , which reported extensively on them. In 2024, Littlejohn was sentenced to five years in prison for stealing not only Trump's files, but also those of thousands more wealthy Americans, and giving them to the two news outlets. Prosecutors said he sought a role at the IRS with the intention of gaining access to Trump's information. He found such a role via Booz Allen Hamilton, which had a contract with the IRS. Citing the breach, Treasury killed all its remaining contracts with the firm earlier this week. The Trump lawsuit makes for some strange dynamics within the executive branch: Trump-chosen Scott Bessent is both Treasury Secretary and acting IRS commissioner, and he'll have to figure out how to respond to a $10 billion demand presented by his own boss. Trump is joined in the suit by his two eldest sons, Donald and Eric, both executive VPs at the Trump Organization. In a 27-page complaint filed with the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Trumps allege: "[Treasury and the IRS] have caused Plaintiffs reputational and financial harm, public embarrassment, unfairly tarnished their business reputations, portrayed them in a false light, and negatively affected President Trump, and the other Plaintiffs’ public standing...

Steve Nesius | Reuters Amazon has asked the Federal Communications Commission for more time to meet a deadline that requires the company to deploy roughly 1,600 internet satellites by July 2026. The company needs to bring more of its satellites online so it can begin offering an internet-from-space service that was recently rebranded as Amazon Leo . The company has earmarked at least $10 billion to build the network. Delays beyond Amazon's control, including a "shortage in the near-term availability" of rockets, necessitate an extension, the company said in a filing made public on Friday. Amazon also pointed to manufacturing disruptions, the failure and grounding of new launch vehicles and limitations on spaceport capacity. Leo is "producing satellites considerably faster than others can launch them," the company wrote. The company is now seeking a 24-month extension, to July 2028, or for the FCC to waive its deadline requiring Amazon to get roughly half of its 3,236 low Earth satellites up. In 2019 , Amazon unveiled its plans to build a constellation of low Earth satellites. They are designed to provide high-speed, low-latency internet to consumers, corporations and governments, offering connections through square-shaped terminals . Amazon has booked more than 100 launches to deploy dozens of satellites at a time. The company said in the filing that it has bought 10 more launches with Elon Musk's SpaceX , as well as a dozen additional rides with Blue Origin, the space exploration startup of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos . The company said that many of its partners have notched significant launch milestones with their respective...

Kofi Ampadu, the partner at a16z who led the firm’s Talent x Opportunity (TxO) fund and program, has left the firm, according to an email he sent to staff that TechCrunch obtained. This comes months after the firm paused TxO and laid off most of its staff. “During my time at the firm, I was deeply grateful for the opportunity and the trust to lead this work,” Ampadu wrote in the email, sent Friday afternoon, with the subject line “Closing My a16z Chapter.” “Identifying out-of-network entrepreneurs and supporting them as they sharpened their ideas, raised capital, and grew into confident leaders was one of the most meaningful experiences of my career,” he wrote. Ampadu led the program, which launched in 2020, for over four years until its pause last November, taking over for the initial leader, Nait Jones. Afterward, Ampadu seems to have worked at a16z’s latest accelerator, Speedrun. Ampadu’s departure perhaps signals the end of the TxO chapter. The fund and program focused on supporting underserved founders by providing access to tech networks and investment capital through a donor-advised fund. Though some founders spoke highly of the program, others criticized the controversial donor-advised structure. The program also launched a grant program in 2024 to provide $50,000 to nonprofits that help diverse founders. Its last cohort was in March 2025, and its indefinite pause came as many top tech names reframe, cut, or eliminate prior public commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We’ve reached out to a16z and Ampadu for comment. His full note below: I moved to the United States three months before my 11th birthday. One month later, I started 6th grade in a school more than 5,000 miles from my home, my friends, and everything familiar. Recently, my mom reminded me that my school required me to enroll as an English-as-a-Second-Language student. My memory immediately returned to how confused I felt. Even at 10 years old, I knew it made no sense that a kid from G...
