Lawyers for a second woman who alleges she was sent to the UK by Jeffrey Epstein for a sexual encounter with the then Prince Andrew have urged King Charles’s lawyers to issue a “real apology”. Brad Edwards, from the US law firm Edwards Henderson, previously told the BBC his client, said not to be British and in her 20s at the time, had spent the night with Andrew at Royal Lodge in 2010 and been given a tour of Buckingham Palace. In a statement, Brittany Henderson, of the same law firm, told PA Media: “Andrew’s power only existed because of his royal family. Andrew’s complicity and involvement with Epstein and Maxwell has been well known to us, to Andrew, and to the palace for many years. “Whether he comes to the United States to testify is irrelevant; we hardly need more people over here spinning grand stories. “For the royal family to maintain any level of credibility in the eyes of the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein, the legal team for the king should contact me immediately in a good faith effort to learn what Andrew has done, meet whomever he has done it to, issue a sincere and real apology, and ensure that any victims of Andrew are fairly compensated for this wrongdoing.” The allegation comes as emails in the more than 3m documents published by the US Department of Justice on Friday relating to Epstein appear to show the depth of friendship between the disgraced financier and Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. The emails also mention princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. In one in 2009, after updating Epstein on her business opportunities, Ferguson appears to write: “Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for.” Another from “Sarah” in 2010 reads: “You are a legend. I really don’t have the words to describe, my love, gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Xx I am at your service. Just marry me.” In 2009, after the crash of a business venture, Ferguson appears to write to Epstein: “I urgently need 20,000 pounds ($27,521) for rent today. The land...

Back in November, Cities: Skylines 2 publisher Paradox made the surprising announcement that longtime series developer Colossal Order would be ceasing work on the series as part of a "mutual" breakup. Now, we're getting our first glimpse into the kinds of patches and upgrades new developer Iceflake ( Surviving the Aftermath ) is prioritizing for the popular city-builder going forward. In a City Corner Developer Diary posted late last week, Iceflake focuses mainly on the visual improvements it's planning for its first major Cities: Skylines 2 patch. Chief among these is improvements to the game's user interface that Iceflake admits can "sometimes be a bit confusing when it comes to communicating things." The new patch will include a "streamlined" onboarding process for new cities, more expressive and context-aware icons, and toolbars with clearer colors and visual style. A new in-game Encyclopedia will also let players search through information about different gameplay topics, though that feature likely won't be ready for Iceflake's first patch. SparshFoto/iStock via Getty Images Meren Energy ( MRNFF ) demonstrates that despite the record highs that the stock market hits, there are stocks that still remain out of favor even though they have solid growth prospects. Meren Energy Common Stock Price History And Key Valuation Measures (Seeking Alpha Website February 1, 2026) Even though the stock price has run up considerably from the low price it hit just a little while back it still has quite a bit to go to get back to where it should be. Note that the dividend yield is still in high-yield territory despite the fact that this company has a generally low debt ratio. The latest corporate presentation has the debt ratio at 0.4, which is extremely conservative. This would indicate that there is no threat to the dividend from a financial perspective. Obviously, management believes that the stock is cheap because they renewed a normal course issuer bid with the proper authorities. This particular course of action allows the company to repurchase up to 5% of the public float of stock over the next year should the price of the stock remain attractive. Last Article As the last article noted, Meren has basically met all of its cash needs one way or another. Now it is in a waiting mode for one of its partners to "do something" other than evaluate whatever needs to be evaluated. Should, for example, one of the partners decide to drill some more wells in Nigeria, the company has the financial arrangements necessary to participate in those wells. On the other hand, there are projects where the company is carried to first production. Even though this is a very small offshore player, the risk management here is extraordinarily well handled for such a small player. As a result, the company has decent income to both pay a dividend, repay debt, and participate in the drilling of more wells while having some solid growth prospects that require no cash. The balance sheet strength that results is one that is seldom found in a compa...

Taiwan Semiconductor is foundational to the tech industry, is expanding its footprint in the U.S., and is slated for continued growth. When you talk about the global tech industry, there are two companies it cannot do without. One is ASML Holding N.V. (ASML +1.76%), which I've covered before and whose lithography machines are absolutely critical in semiconductor manufacturing. The other is Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM +3.66%) which, as of Q3 2025, controls a whopping 72% of the pure foundry semiconductor market. I've also covered Taiwan Semiconductor in comparison to Intel, but this company is worth getting an article all its own. The world's semiconductor factory Now, there are lots of companies in the semiconductor industry that design chips but don't produce them. They're called "fabless" because of that. Taiwan Semiconductor isn't one of them. As a pure foundry company, it produces chips other companies have designed, like Apple and Nvidia, which account for 25% and 11% of Taiwan Semiconductor's revenue, respectively. Speaking of revenue, Taiwan Semiconductor brought in $122.42 billion in revenue for 2025, up 36% over 2024. And, despite those expenses, it actually drove down its capital expenditures by 1.3% in Q4 2025 from Q4 2024, and its free cash flow grew by 42%. For the whole of 2025, the company grew its operating cash flow by 24.6%. Taiwan Semiconductor also expects its profitability to improve and has targeted a gross margin of 63% and 65% and an oper...

RBC Capital Markets sees further upside for U.S. equities over the next year, supported by steady economic growth and resilient corporate earnings. In a recent investment note, the firm set a 12-month price target of 7,750 for the S&P 500 ( SP500 ), implying upside of just over 13% from the index’s close at the end of 2025. That projection aligns closely with bottom-up consensus expectations calling for roughly 13% earnings growth, with S&P 500 earnings per share estimated near $313. The target reflects the midpoint of outcomes generated by five internal models that incorporate signals from investor sentiment, valuation and earnings trends, the relative attractiveness of stocks versus bonds, macroeconomic growth, and Federal Reserve policy. Taken together, RBC’s analysis suggests that equity gains over the coming year are more likely to be driven by earnings expansion rather than higher valuation multiples. Looking ahead, the firm expects supportive conditions to persist, including continued economic momentum, modest policy easing from the Federal Reserve, and gradually cooling inflation. At the same time, RBC highlighted several factors that could influence market performance, including shifts in economic conditions, growing interest in geographic diversification, and the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. The investor note also cautioned that market sentiment may be approaching stretched levels, particularly as enthusiasm around artificial intelligence has boosted global demand for U.S. assets. Consensus forecasts, however, continue to point toward stronger U.S. GDP growth in 2026, reinforcing a constructive medium-term outlook. The legendary footballer, reduced to something of a tap-in artist these days in a league of – at best – questionable quality, seemingly threw his toys out of his Bugatti on Sunday after deciding that not enough investment has been made in his club, Al-Nassr, in comparison to the other Saudi ones. Timo Werner is still only 29! Was he born on a leap day or something? To borrow from football cliches, when we talk of Peter Pan footballers, it is usually because they are 35 or something like that, and still full of running. A James Milner type. Timo seems like he should be 37 and in Saudi Arabia or the USA USA USA, not still 29 and at his theoretical peak … oh, he is in the USA USA USA. Someone check his birth certificate!” – Matt Atkinson. Although Arsène Wenger certainly does not lack creativity when it comes to proposing changes to the rules of the game (see ‘daylight’ for example), I’d like to pose an idea to him: let’s reduce the game time of every match to one half of 45 minutes. This solves the whole problem of injuries due to fixture congestion, probably maximises effective playing time, and – most importantly – gives my favourite team Spurs a chance at actually winning games” – Yannick Woudstra. This article first appeared on GuruFocus. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD, Financials) is expected to deliver stronger than forecast fourth quarter results, driven by continued demand for its PC and server products, according to Wedbush Securities. Analyst Matt Bryson said in a note that traditional segments should show resilience even as uncertainty remains around AMD's artificial intelligence business. Bryson forecasts modest upside for both sales and margins as server CPU pricing rises and product mix optimization continues into 2026. Tight supply conditions and growing enterprise demand could further support results through next year, he added. While Bryson believes AMD remains a credible challenger to Nvidia, he said the stock's valuation largely depends on the timing and strength of its AI chip ramp. Any delay, he noted, could be offset by stronger server sales, improving profitability.

Readers on regenerating town centres and making high streets attractive community spaces again High streets have been changing throughout my lifetime (I’m 82 and had a high-street business for more than 20 years) and they have somehow survived with precious little government help ( Labour risks election wipeout unless it improves Britain’s high streets, study finds, 28 February ). In my postwar rural Essex village, we had three butchers, two newsagents, two bakers, two ironmongers, three general stores (one a dairy) plus a potpourri of haberdashery, hair stylists, two sweet shops and an electrical shop that had every plug and wire known to man. There was consternation when the dairy went self-service, but soon everyone was shopping with a basket. Then came the grocery chains – the butchers and bakers disappeared, and the main haberdasher closed. But the village adjusted and other enterprises appeared. The next watershed was out-of-town shopping (driven by local government poverty and the temptation of a new village hall in exchange for planning permission for a superstore) that pulled that rug away. Every day, many new mothers continue to suffer in silence, as highlighted in your article (Seven out of 10 UK mothers feel overloaded, research reveals, 28 January). The Royal College of Psychiatrists revealed postnatal depression harmed up to 85,000 new mums in England last year. Maternal suicide is one of the leading causes of death among women between six weeks and a year after birth. Perinatal mental illness accounts for 34% of all deaths in this group during this period. Untreated prenatal and antenatal mental illness also affects unborn infants, potentially putting them at risk of premature birth and low birth weight. Parents may find it difficult to bond with their baby once they are born, which can contribute to attachment issues. This should not be happening – and with the right support, it can be prevented and treated. Mothers and their partners must not be left to suffer in silence and should be encouraged to seek help when they’re experiencing mental ill health. An approach that takes into account a person’s biological needs, psychological state and social situation is most effective. A Federal Reserve led by Kevin Warsh would likely boost volatility in the US Treasury markets due to the central bank’s reduced public communications, according to Morgan Stanley . Warsh, nominated by President Donald Trump to succeed Jerome Powell in May as chair, served as a governor at the Fed from 2006 to 2011. A Morgan Stanley review of Federal Open Market Committee transcripts from that time reveals that Warsh wanted investors to develop their own opinions on economic growth, inflation and monetary policy. “Warsh didn’t like to keep the market beholden to the Fed’s view,” strategists Matthew Hornbach and Martin Tobias wrote in a Jan. 30 note, adding that “he won’t necessarily reinforce the markets’ view if it differs from his.” Over the past year swings in the market in reaction to US interest rates have plummeted even as the absolute level of Treasury yields have fluctuated alongside shifts in economic growth, the labor market and inflation. That’s in large part because of the expected — and communicated — stability in the Fed’s policy path. Fed Chair Powell, as recently as October, described the central bank’s monetary policy as “more effective when the public understands what the Federal Reserve does and why.” The central bank held rates steady last month; traders don’t see officials shifting benchmark borrowing costs again until July at the earliest. Since Warsh’s nomination, traders have mostly focused on his stance on the Fed’s balance sheet or appropriate level for policy rates. At Morgan Stanley, Hornbach and Tobias, for one, see the former governor’s preference for a “smaller balance sheet footprint” boosting longer-term Treasury yields relative to short-term ones, a so-called steepening of the curve. Among them would be reduced interaction by Fed offic...
