Filed by the SEC in the final days of Joe Biden's administration, the lawsuit seeks $150 million in disgorgement, plus interest, as well as civil penalties and an injunction blocking Musk from future wrongdoing. The complaint alleged that Musk quietly acquired a 9 percent stake in Twitter without filing necessary timely disclosures to alert other investors of a potential change in company control. (RTTNews) - After ending the previous session roughly flat, treasuries turned in another lackluster performance during trading on Wednesday. Bond prices bounced back and forth across the unchanged line before eventually ending the day nearly unchanged. The yield on the benchmark ten-year note, which moves opposite of its price, crept up by less than a basis point to 4.275 percent. The choppy trading on the day came following the release of data on private sector employment and service sector activity. Payroll processor ADP released a report showing private sector employment in the U.S. increased by much less than expected in the month of January. ADP said private sector employment rose by 22,000 jobs in January after climbing by a downwardly revised 37,000 jobs in December. Economists had expected private sector employment to grow by 45,000 jobs compared to the addition of 41,000 jobs originally reported for the previous month. Meanwhile, separate report released by the Institute for Supply Management showed continued growth by U.S. manufacturing activity in the month of January. The ISM said its services PMI came in at 53.8 in January, unchanged from a revised reading in December. A reading above 50 indicates growth in the sector. Economists had expected the services PMI to edge down to 53.5 from the 54.4 originally reported for the previous month. Trading on Thursday may be impacted by reaction to the latest U.S. economic data, including reports on job openings and weekly jobless claims. Lean hog futures ended Wednesday trade with contracts up 37 to 97 cents in the front months and down 20 to 55 cents in the back months. The national average base hog negotiated price was reported at $78.03 on Wednesday afternoon, up 24 cents from the day prior. The CME Lean Hog Index was reported at $83.98 on December 16, up 14 cents from the previous day. USDA’s FOB plant pork cutout value reported back higher on Wednesday PM, $1.58 at $96.35 per cwt. The loin, butt, and picnic primals were reported slightly lower, with the other three moderately higher. USDA estimated the Wednesday FI hog slaughter at 488,000 head, taking the weekly total to 1.463 million head. That is 1,000 head below last week and up 16,438 head from the same week last year. Soybeans are kicking off Monday with 19 to 21 cent gains following an late Sunday post from President Trump. Futures posted losses of 5 to 7 cents across most contracts on Friday, as September and November ended the week with a 1 ¾ cent loss. The cmdtyView national average Cash Bean price was down 7 cents at $9.28 1/4. Soymeal futures were creeping back higher, up 40 to 70 cents at the close, as September was $5.70 higher on the week. Soy Oil futures were down 78 to 88 points on the day, with September posting a weekly loss of 177 points. There were another 108 August soybean meal deliveries, with the month to date total at 3,471 contracts. Overnight, President Trump posted that, “China is worried about its shortage of soybeans. Our great farmers produce the most robust soybeans. I hope China will quickly quadruple its soybean orders...” This was enough to take the market higher on the hopes of some buying, if not a deal. Don’t Miss a Day: Managed money added another 29,619 contracts to their net short position as of August 5, taking the total to 65,930 contracts. Commercials were net short 68,230 contracts by Tuesday a 19,529 contract reduction on the week. Ahead of the Tuesday Crop Production report, traders are looking for US soybean yield to be 53 bpa, with a range of 52 to 54. Production is seen at 4.374 billion bushels, which is up 39 mbu from the July WASDE. Analysts estimate old crop carryout down 5 mbu to 345 mbu. Cotton prices are trading with steady to 8 point gains in the front months on Wednesday. Futures were down 29 to 36 points in the front months on Tuesday. Crude oil futures are up $1.92 per barrel on the day at $65.14. The US dollar index is up $0.269 to $97.570. Tuesday’s online auction from The Seam showed sales of 55.62 cents/lb on 8,680 bales. The Cotlook A Index was down another 45 points on February 3 at 73.35 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks were up 2,247 on 2/3 with the certified stocks level at 36,515 bales. An oil exchange traded fund posted its biggest daily inflow since the pandemic as investors bet that prices will continue to rally as tensions between the US and Iran simmer. Nearly $200 million was reported on Tuesday to have been added to WisdomTree’s WTI Crude Oil exchange-traded product in recent days, lifting the fund’s total assets by just over a quarter to $915 million. US futures surged nearly 7% last week, the biggest gain since October amid threats by US President Donald Trump to use military strikes in Iran, one of the world’s biggest oil producers. Prices reversed sharply when markets opened on Monday as tensions appeared to ease and the broader commodities complex weakened. Days later, several tense military interactions between Washington and Tehran kept the door open to further escalation, with the inflows likely reflecting positioning for a potential bounce-back. The fund tracks crude oil using fully-funded, collateralized swaps rather than holding futures directly, muting it’s direct footprint in the futures market.

Lawsuit Challenges Trump's 'Gold Card' Visa Program Authored by Bill Pan via The Epoch Times, A national university faculty group is suing to shut down President Donald Trump’s “Gold Card” visa, arguing that the new, expedited pathway to permanent residency for wealthy foreigners is unlawful. In a lawsuit filed Feb. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and several foreign professionals say the program benefits rich applicants at the expense of “qualified, merit-based” candidates, such as scientists, engineers, and doctors. The Trump Gold Card program, which formally went live on Dec. 10, 2025, was created by executive order and described by the president as a “green card on steroids.” Individual applicants must pay a nonrefundable $15,000 processing fee to enter the pipeline and, after clearing background checks, make a $1 million “gift” to the government. Employers can apply for a corporate Gold Card for workers by paying the same $15,000 fee plus a $2 million contribution per employee. The Gold Card does not have its own visa category. Instead, Trump’s executive order directs agencies to use existing EB-1 “extraordinary ability” and EB-2 “exceptional ability” green card categories and to treat the required payments as evidence that the applicant will substantially benefit the United States. Both EB-1 and EB-2 categories fall under the employment-based immigration system, which is capped at 140,000 visas annually. According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), EB-1 and EB-2 visas account for about 80,000 of those slots. Sjo Boeing ( BA ) on Wednesday said it secured the largest landing gear exchange contract in its history, announcing an agreement with the Singapore Airlines Group covering more than 75 aircraft at the Singapore Airshow. Under the contract, Boeing ( BA ) will provide landing gear exchanges for aircraft across the SIA Group’s 737 Max and 787 fleets. The program is designed to give the airline greater flexibility in overhaul scheduling, helping extend the useful life of landing gear components while reducing aircraft downtime. “Our relationship with the SIA Group is built on delivering dependable solutions,” William Ampofo, senior vice president of parts and distribution and supply chain at Boeing Global Services, said in a statement. He added that the agreement combines Boeing’s ( BA ) global inventory and distribution capabilities with the airline’s maintenance planning to speed parts delivery and support reliable operations. The landing gear exchange program allows airlines to access serviceable landing gear assemblies through a managed inventory and partner network, limiting the need to hold large stocks of spare gear on site. The approach is intended to shorten maintenance-related ground time and improve dispatch reliability, particularly for carriers operating dense flight schedules.
