The shares fell about 1% in extended trading Tuesday, erasing an earlier gain. Fiscal third-quarter revenue rose 25% year over year to $845.1 million, ahead of the consensus estimate of $812.6 million. Adjusted earnings also beat expectations, coming in at $1.25 a share versus estimates of $1.16. The company cited broad-based growth across its parts supply, repair and engineering, and software platforms, with particular strength in new parts distribution and government-related demand. Profit swings sharply higher AAR ( AIR ) returned to profitability in the quarter following a year-earlier loss tied to divestiture charges. Net income rose to $68.0 million, or $1.71 a share, from a net loss of $8.9 million, or $0.25 a share, in the year-earlier period. Adjusted earnings per share increased 26% year over year, reflecting higher volumes and improved operating performance. Margins expand alongside earnings growth The company reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization of $102 million, up 26% from the prior year, with margins expanding slightly to 12.1%. AAR ( AIR ) said its improved profitability reflects a favorable mix shift toward higher-margin offerings and benefits from recent acquisitions. The company expects further margin expansion as integration efforts continue. Operating margin on a GAAP basis declined to 7.8% from 10.5% a year earlier, though adjusted operating margin improved to 10.2%.
