( NBIS ) approaches its Q4 earnings (scheduled for pre-market on February 12 ) in a relatively good mood from the share price perspective with +11% year-to-date, which is far better performance compared to the S&P 500 Index ( SP500 ). On the other hand, the stock is currently cheaper by approximately 40% compared to its October 2025 peak. Moreover, NBIS is down by 16% since my previous cautious call . From the technical analysis perspective, the setup does not look very well before earnings as the stock currently trades below a strong resistance level of $100. The stock failed to break far above this level in both December and January. And we also do not see soaring trading volumes in 2026 despite the fact that NBIS is 40% down from its last year's peak levels. Data by YCharts Relatively weak sentiment around NBIS is likely explained by growing fears around the potential AI bubble, especially after tech giants announced their plans to aggressively boost investments in AI infrastructure in 2026. Investors are becoming increasingly concerned about returns on all these massive investments. Wall Street analysts are also becoming more concerned about NBIS as there were mostly negative revenue and EPS revisions over the last few months. Seeking Alpha The fact that there were three revenue downgrades might be explained by the company's historically weak earnings record from the topline perspective. There were four revenue misses over the last five quarters, which is a really poor performance given status as an aggressive growth company. It’s about time I cover the stock as well, seeing as this is the largest holding I have in my personal portfolio, and I’m adding more aggressively now than I’ve ever been before. I find the valuation to be misplaced as the growth still remains strong across the board, with several lucrative areas still in play for AMZN, namely advertising and AWS. With the recent annual report and the 2026 guidance it has shifted up another gear in terms of Capex, but considering just how strong their cash flows and balance sheet is right now, it doesn't seem unreasonable or irresponsible. Given the track record of how AMZN has been able to aggressively invest and build new revenue streams in the past, which are now major income generators, I’m confident these investments will pan out very well. Rating the stock a Strong Buy as I initiate coverage. Stock Chart 5-Year Performance On a 5-year basis an investment in AMZN has left a lot of investors wanting more. With a stock price appreciation of less than 30% you’d be better off just buying the SPY instead, or any simple dividend stock as well for that matter. Arguably, the valuation 5 years ago was quite high with the P/S being at 4.2x and the P/E at nearly 80x. On a FWD basis both multiples have dropped to 2.81x and 27.3x. It seems to be a case of “growing into the valuation” here, but this also means that AMZN looks like a very attractive buy considering it’s still growing the top line at a double digit rate and guiding for $16.5 - $21.5 billion in operating income. At Holdings Channel, we have reviewed the latest batch of the 20 most recent 13F filings for the 03/31/2025 reporting period, and noticed that Johnson & Johnson (Symbol: JNJ) was held by 13 of these funds. Russia’s crude shipments are holding steady in the face of mounting pressures on its critical oil trade, but the steeper discounts that are keeping the barrels flowing have hammered the Kremlin’s revenues. Volumes averaged 3.33 million barrels a day in the four weeks to Feb. 8, according to vessel-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg. That nudged up from the revised figure for the period to Feb. 1, but was down by about 540,000 barrels a day from the pre-Christmas peak. The stable flows haven’t prevented a collapse in Moscow’s oil revenues, which fell to the lowest in more than five years in January, as weaker global prices, steeper discounts for the nation’s barrels, and a stronger currency took a toll on the budget. Rising tensions in the Middle East have lifted prices in the first days of February, but the pressures on Russia’s crude flows are intensifying. Shipments to India have fallen to less than half their peak level and could fall further even if New Delhi doesn’t fully halt the trade. Last week’s steep drop in software stocks on concern about competition from artificial intelligence was likely overdone, according to Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Chief Executive Officer David Solomon . “I think the narrative over the last week has been a little bit too broad,” Solomon said Tuesday at UBS Group AG’s conference in Key Biscayne, Florida. “There’ll be winners and losers — plenty of companies will pivot and do just fine.” Many software stocks slid on news of a new AI automation tool from Anthropic PBC and its potential impact on legacy software-as-a-service businesses. The selloff was wide-ranging, hitting companies regardless of pre-existing partnerships with AI companies or proprietary data stacks. In the wide-ranging interview, Solomon also said the US economy was likely to see strong growth this year. “The macro setup is very good broadly,” he said. The Wall Street CEO said a few factors are likely to keep driving growth, including strong fiscal stimulus, deregulation and the possibility of populist actions by President Donald Trump as mid-term elections approach. LD/iStock via Getty Images We get January jobs report on Wednesday and inflation data on Friday. Both are going the direction that supports lower rates. But as we know, that's the direction of travel. It's a matter of whether Jerome Powell's Fed makes another move before his term ends, or if he leaves it to the Kevin Warsh Fed to clean up. On the latter, we've talked about the prospects for the new Fed regime (which officially arrives in May) to strike a 1951-like "accord" with the Treasury (a Treasury-Fed Accord 2.0). Bloomberg has picked up on this idea, and led the week with a piece on it this morning. They position such an accord as a Fed-Treasury "marriage" (implying a cozier, if possible, relationship between the Fed and government). That's the exact opposite of what the 1951 Fed-Treasury Accord was about. This is about divorce . It's about getting the Fed out of the government debt-financing business. That forces the Treasury (the government) to be more disciplined. It stops the distortion in markets and outcomes, and preserves the value and reserve currency status of the dollar. And the divorce, if it happens, should meaningfully reduce the risk premium in the bond market. That would immediately bring longer-term rates and consumer rates down. Then, Fed rate cuts would (as they are supposed to) be the anchor that drags longer-term rates lower. With the above in mind, let's continue our discussion on Europe, from my last note. As we discussed, just days after the Warsh nomination, the European Central Bank said they are working on a new "liquidity framework." Why? Because they know the Fed backstop is at risk under the incoming Trump-appointed Fed Chair. A solicitor who approved a private investigator’s contested confession of bugging, phone tapping and hacking on behalf of the publisher of the Daily Mail did not oversee the document being signed, the high court has heard. The most serious allegations of unlawful information-gathering against Associated Newspapers Ltd (ANL) came from a signed statement made by the private investigator Gavin Burrows. It alleged an array of lawbreaking on behalf of the publisher, including bugging, phone hacking, landline tapping and the “blagging” of private records and medical information. ANL denies all the allegations. Four of the seven claimants in the case – Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, as well as the actors Liz Hurley and Sadie Frost – have pointed to the significance of Burrows’s alleged confessions. Allegations include the tapping of Hurley’s phone, the bugging of her home and the hacking of a phone belonging to John and Furnish’s gardener. However, Burrows now says the witness statement outlining his alleged confessions was forged. Giving evidence at the trial, Anjlee Sangani, the solicitor who signed off the document as being drawn up in accordance with normal legal practices, confirmed she had not been responsible for asking Burrows to sign it. Her signature effectively confirms the witness was not asked leading questions in preparing their statement, and did not have any improper pressure put upon them. Sangani, who no longer represents any of the claimants, confirmed she had “delegated” the task of ensuring Burrows signed the document to Graham Johnson, a former phone hacker who has since researched unlawful press activities and became a researcher for the claimants’ legal team. ANL’s legal team is suggesting that the Burrows statement was primarily drawn up by Johnson. It claims Sangani could not have been certain all the information came from Burrows’s own words.
