todamo/iStock Editorial via Getty Images When I last wrote about the French luxury fashion stock Hermès ( OTCPK:HESAY ) ( OTCPK:HESAF ) eight months ago, an 11-12% price correction looked possible. In actual fact, the stock has fallen by 23%. Has HESAY overcorrected? Let's find out. Why is the Hermès stock falling? A look at HESAY's price chart over the past year reveals that from the time I wrote in July 2025 until almost the end of January 2026, the stock was essentially trading flat. And then it nosedived, coinciding with LVMH's ( OTCPK:LVMUY ) disappointing full-year 2025 results . LVMH could well be called the pulse of the luxury fashion and accessories sector, given its size and its diverse products. So it's little wonder that continued weakness in the company casts a shadow on the rest of the luxury set as well. Price Chart: HESAY (Source: Seeking Alpha) While HESAY recovered from the LVMH impact by mid-February, its own results didn't bolster investor confidence. The results weren't bad, to be sure. But they don't bolster confidence for 2026 either. In its outlook, the company mentions economic and geopolitical uncertainties twice. Also, HESAY's forward non-GAAP P/E had touched over 50x at that time, indicating fair valuation for the stock. The start of the US-Iran war saw another correction in HESAY. Between February 27 and March 3, the stock lost ~8% of its value, in line with the pullback in the stock markets as such. Consumer discretionary stocks have been particularly hard hit, with the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Income ETF ( XLY ) down by 5.4% in the past month, further explaining the pullback in HESAY. 3 reasons HESAY can rise now From the end of January until now, the stock is down by 25%. This is only a good sign, though. There are now more reasons for an uptick than not. Here are three of them. #1. Healthy revenue growth with an Asian revival For the full year 2025, Hermès's revenues grew by 8.9% at constant exchange rat...

gettinthere/iStock via Getty Images Bank of America analysts are rethinking their top European defense picks, favoring companies focused on air defense systems, missiles and drones as recent conflicts highlight changing military priorities. In a note by analyst Benjamin Heelan, the bank said it now prefers firms involved in detecting, tracking and intercepting incoming threats, rather than traditional manufacturers of tanks and artillery. The shift benefits companies such as BAE Systems ( BAESF ) ( BAESY ), Thales ( THLEF )( THLLY ), Leonardo ( FINMF )( FINMY ), Kongsberg Gruppen ( NSKFF )( KBGGY ) and Hensoldt ( HAGHY ) ( HNSDF ). Bank of America upgraded Hensoldt to a buy rating and raised price targets for BAE Systems and Kongsberg. By contrast, the bank trimmed its outlook for more traditional defense names, lowering price targets for Rheinmetall ( RNMBF )( RNMBY ) and Renk ( RNKGF ). Sweden’s Saab ( SAABF )( SAABY ) was downgraded to hold, with valuation cited as a concern. Recent conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine have underscored the growing importance of drones, artificial intelligence and layered air defense systems for NATO countries. Analysts pointed to a recent long-range missile launch by Iran targeting a joint U.S.-U.K. base in Diego Garcia as a reminder of expanding threat ranges, even though the strike was unsuccessful. According to the note, such developments are likely to accelerate European investment in air defense, including fighter aircraft, missile systems, radar and ground-based interception technologies. Demand is also increasing for integrated defense platforms capable of addressing ballistic, cruise and hypersonic threats, alongside counter-drone capabilities. Companies in these segments are seeing rising interest from Gulf nations and stronger order pipelines from European governments, the analysts said. spawns Precigen ( PGEN ) shares climbed ~30% in extended trading despite reporting lower-than-expected financials as Wall Street analysts welcomed the immunotherapy developer’s outlook for Q1, boosted by its recently launched tumor therapy Papzimeos. On Wednesday in the aftermarket, the Maryland-based biotech reported $9.7M in revenue, missing the consensus by $3.8M despite $3.4M in product revenue attributed to Papzimeos, which launched late last year in the U.S. Meanwhile, Precigen’s ( PGEN ) net loss per share widened ~191% YoY to $1.37 as its selling, general, and administrative expenses surged ~70% YoY to $70.1M for the year, including $27.3M related to the Papzimeos launch. However, citing the commercial activity so far, CEO Helen Sabzevari projected that the company’s Q1 revenue could surpass $18M, which exceeded $14.1M in the Bloomberg consensus, based on two Street forecasts. “This is a clear sign of the enthusiasm we are seeing from patients and physicians alike, leading to a robust uptake in the therapy,” Sabzevari added, referring to Papzimeos, which the FDA greenlighted in August for a tumor condition called recurrent respiratory papillomatosis. During the earnings call, management “guided to 1Q Papzimeos revenue exceeding $18mn, a meaningful step up from the $14mn consensus estimate," JPMorgan analyst Brian Cheng wrote with a Neutral rating on the stock. “1Q guidance positively highlights the launch momentum out of the gate.” “Positive early launch metrics bode well for Papzimeos growth,” added H.C. Wainwright analyst Swayampakula Ramakanth with a Buy rating. “Given the broad expansion opportunities and favorable IP protection into the 2040s, we believe Papzimeos has the potential to become a franchise product," Ramakanth wrote, raising his price target to $10 from $9. Citizens Bank analyst Jason Butler, who has a Market Perform rating on Precigen ( PGEN ), raised his price target to $9 from $8. “Papzimeos already stakes claim as front-line standard-of...

D3sign | Moment | Getty Images Bots have taken over the internet. The State of AI Traffic report released Thursday by Human Security, a cybersecurity firm, showed that artificial intelligence and bots have officially eclipsed human users. "The internet as a whole was created with this very basic notion that there's a human being on the other side of the computer screen, and that notion is very rapidly being replaced," Stu Solomon, CEO of Human Security, told CNBC. That automated traffic across the internet grew almost eight times faster than human activity in 2025, according to the report. Automated traffic, defined by Human Security as "internet traffic generated by software systems (including AI) rather than human users," has surged rapidly as people continue to turn to AI chatbots for daily questions. Proliferation of large language models like OpenAI's ChatGPT , Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini has played a large part in AI traffic, which increased 187% from January to December 2025 according to the report. "Machine-based traffic is effectively replacing humans as the dominant form of traffic on the other side of the internet," Solomon said. Human's report was based data from its Human Defense Platform product, which it says processed over one quadrillion interactions across its customers. The process of quantifying automated activity across the entire internet can pose challenges, however, since there isn't one complete database of interactions. "You can try to estimate the amount of bot traffic by looking at the agent strings, but these are very noisy estimates," Filippo Menczer, a professor of Informatics and Computer Science at Indiana University, told CNBC. "They depend on what sample you get. They are depending on where you're getting the data, where the measurements are coming from," Menczer said. Crypto is moving deeper into the US financial system — this time through the mortgage market. Better Home & Finance Holding Co., a mortgage company, and Coinbase Global Inc. are launching a product that links digital assets to down payments on Fannie Mae –eligible home loans. The structure allows borrowers to pledge Bitcoin and Circle Internet Group Inc. ’s USDC stablecoin as collateral for a separate loan used to fund the down payment, rather than selling those assets to raise cash. The offering arrives as digital assets push further into the financial mainstream, following the blockbuster rollout of spot-crypto exchange-traded funds in 2024 that have helped mint wealth for investors. For years, many crypto holders have balked at selling — even for major purchases like a home — because doing so would mean giving up potential upside while also incurring capital gains taxes. While crypto-backed mortgages aren’t entirely new, Fannie Mae’s involvement is significant. The government-backed entity, overseen by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, plays a central role in the US housing market. Its move aligns with a broader policy shift: In June, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte signaled support for factoring crypto held on regulated exchanges into mortgage risk assessments — the process lenders use to determine whether a borrower has the financial clout to make good on their debt. “Crypto democratizes the ability of regular Americans to access financial instruments that’s only for the traditionally wealthy,” Vishal Garg , chief executive officer and founder of Better Home, said in an interview. Conforming loan status typically means borrowers get access to lower interest rates and standardized terms backed by the government-sponsored mortgag...

Commuters cross London Bridge in London, England. Peter Summers | Getty Images News | Getty Images While the impact of the war in Iran is sparing no major global economy , the U.K. is predicted to bear the greatest economic hit of any developed market nation, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). In its latest economic report revising growth and inflation forecasts made in December, the OECD made steep revisions to the U.K.'s outlook. It now predicts U.K. inflation to hit 4% this year — up 1.5 percentage points (pp) from its previous forecast — and for 2026 growth to languish at 0.5%, down 0.5pp from its last review. The revisions were the steepest of any made by the Paris-based OECD regarding major global economies in its interim economic outlook published Thursday. Out of the G7 group of industrialized economies, only the U.S. was predicted to see higher inflation this year, with the OECD predicting the rate to hit 4.2% . The U.S. and Israel's war with Iran has already had a dramatic impact on the global economy, prompting central banks to lower growth forecasts and hike inflation expectations on the back of rising international oil and gas prices. The OECD said Thursday that the conflict in the Middle East is testing the resilience of the global economy with the outlook "surrounded by high uncertainty." Growth has been supported by strong momentum in technology-related investment and lower tariff rates than previously assumed, the OECD added, but Iran's block on most energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and damage to regional energy infrastructure has "generated a surge in energy prices and disrupted the global supply of energy and other important commodities, such as fertilisers." "This is raising costs, weighing on demand and adding to inflationary pressures," the OECD noted. The U.K. is more exposed to the global energy price shock than many other nations, as the country imports most of its oil and natural gas...
