Wells Fargo expects the Iran war to have a generally limited impact on the economy, with eventual easing inflation pressures and lower Treasury yields later in the year removing key headwinds for bullion, and it expects the conflict to be relatively short-lived, reducing the risk of a sustained inflation increase. The bank also said gold buying at central banks remains well above long-term averages, providing a structural pillar of demand. The analysts recommended investors use the pullback in gold to gradually build positions, suggesting capital could rotate from energy markets into precious metals as the conflict stabilizes. Gold futures resumed their downward momentum Thursday as crude oil prices rebounded, keeping inflation fears intact and ‌sustaining expectations of elevated interest rates, and the U.S. dollar edged higher, making dollar-priced bullion more ​expensive for other currency holders. "Concerns that higher energy prices will push inflation higher, forcing central banks to adopt a more hawkish stance, continue to support the dollar and yields," ADM Investor Services said in a note. Gold and silver both fell for the 10th time in the last 12 sessions on Thursday, with front-month Comex gold ( XAUUSD:CUR ) for March delivery down 3.8% to $4,375.50/oz, its second-lowest settlement of the year, and front-month Comex March silver ( XAGUSD:CUR ) slumping 6.5% to $67.671/oz. However, not all companies in the sector are created equal: different portfolios, credit quality, leverage, and risk-premium management can result in different BDCs. In the following, we will examine Gladstone Capital ( GLAD ) in the BDC sector, with a special focus on the benchmark Ares Capital Corporation ( ARCC ). Netflix updated its plans page on Thursday. “We continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members we are updating our prices to enable us to reinvest in quality entertainment and improve their experience,” a Netflix spokesperson said.

Marvin Samuel Tolentino Pineda Netflix ( NFLX ) is raising the price of all its subscription plans by at least a dollar in a move that was telegraphed during the company’s earnings call in January. “On the revenue side, for 2026, key drivers are similar to ’25. It’s membership growth, its pricing, and it’s a rough doubling of our ad revenue to about $3B,” Netflix CFO Spencer Neumann said on the call. Netflix ( NFLX ) added 23M new subscribers and generated $45.2B in total revenue in 2025. Netflix says it needs the extra money to help pay for the company’s higher content budget, expected to increase by $2B this year to $20B. This includes a slate of live events, including the World Baseball Classic in Japan, podcasts, and a new license deal with Sony ( SONY ). Effective immediately, a standard plan with ads will cost $8.99 a month (+$1), standard with no ads will cost $19.99 a month (+$2), and premium will cost $26.99 a month (+$2). The company also raised its extra member fee by a dollar to $6.99 a month (with ads) and to $9.99 a month (without ads). Netflix ( NFLX ) last raised its subscription fees in January 2025. Apple Inc. on Thursday discontinued the Mac Pro desktop, its highest-end computer aimed at video editors, photographers and other advanced users. The company removed the machine, which was priced at $6,999, from its website. It had not been updated since 2023, when Apple released the first model with its own in-house M2 Ultra chip. That configuration had become vastly outdated with the smaller Mac Studio adding the M3 Ultra last year. The Mac Pro has become increasingly less important in the company’s computer lineup given the overlap in functionality and processing power with the less-expensive Mac Studio. It was also a very small seller, with Apple winding down inventory in its stores the last several weeks. Bloomberg News reported on the discontinuation plan in December. Earlier this month, Apple killed off the Pro Display XDR monitor, which had been launched in tandem with the newest Mac Pro design in 2019. In its place, it released new Studio Displays aimed at its other Macs. Apple had always planned to transition away from the Mac Pro to the Mac Studio but received pushback from users who wanted more expandability for network cards and other components that the Mac Pro has been able to offer due to its larger frame. Apple is planning updated Mac Studio models later this year with faster processors, Bloomberg News has reported. The Mac Pro was Apple’s only manufactured-in-America device. But the company said in February that it’ll begin building the Mac mini at a facility in Houston later this year.

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook said the Iran war has shifted the balance of risks for now, leaving inflation as a bigger concern for policymakers than employment. “I would argue that the inflation risk is greater right now as a result of the Iran war,” Cook said Thursday while answering questions after a speech in New Haven, Connecticut. “With respect to the labor market, I see it as being in balance, but precariously so.” The US central bank left interest rates unchanged after its March 17-18 policy meeting, and noted elevated uncertainty created by the war. It’s trying to balance inflation, which was about a percentage point above its 2% target in January and is set to climb further on the back of a surge in oil prices, against a labor market that has seen very little hiring over the past year. Cook said tariffs had already moved inflation away from the Fed’s target, and that the Middle East situation could potentially have a substantial effect also. “We could be at this for much longer than we anticipated,” Cook said. “So I think right now, the balance of risks has shifted more to inflation.”
