CVC Capital Partners Plc plans to explore options including potential divestments for Recordati SpA if it succeeds in its €10.9 billion ($12.5 billion) takeover of the Italian drugmaker, according to people familiar with the matter. The investment firm could consider a sale of Recordati’s rare-diseases arm as one of the alternatives, the people said, asking not to be identified as the information is private. CVC may also look at selling other assets of the drugmaker, the people said. The potential moves would give CVC more flexibility to reshape Recordati after a delisting and help it unlock greater value from a division like the rare-diseases arm, which is developing higher-margin treatments for rare illnesses like Cushing’s syndrome and hyperammonemia. The private equity firm has effectively been steering the path of Recordati since 2018 when it acquired the founding family’s holding company. Recordati said Thursday it had received a takeover approach of €52 a share, including dividend, from its biggest shareholder, representing a 12% premium to the drugmaker’s closing price on Wednesday. Based on a potential offering size of up to $4 billion for Jio Platforms Ltd. , the total fee pool may be as high as $26 million, with the bulk likely to be shared among lead banks such as Kotak Mahindra Capital Co. and Morgan Stanley , the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. The fee distribution may ultimately depend on the client coverage from the banks and the company’s own discretion, two of the people said. Jio’s IPO could be India’s largest-ever listing and the first by a major unit of billionaire Mukesh Ambani ’s flagship company, Reliance, in almost two decades. There are no plans to make another Mac Pro. The discontinuation of the Mac Pro should come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention. Reporting from late last year suggested that the Mac Pro had been put "on the back burner," but the desktop has clearly been in danger of falling off the stove since at least the mid-2010s, during the six-year period where the controversial cylindrical "trash can" Mac Pro design languished without updates. Apple briefly rededicated itself to its pro desktop in 2019 with a new design that hearkened back to more versatile, upgradeable, be-handled versions of the Power Mac and Mac Pro. But by the time it was updated again with M2 Ultra four years later, it was already clear that the idea of a huge and expandable Mac desktop was out of step with the Apple Silicon era.
