Seyms/iStock via Getty Images My Call On Amazon Is Underwater Amazon ( AMZN ) has underperformed the market for some time. It is not unusual for this stock to behave in this way, as its upward trajectory is more choppy compared to other steady stocks whose compounding is more predictable. As Q1 2026 winds down, I want to come back to this stock because I think it suffers from short-sighted bearish narratives from time to time . In particular, at the end of a month where investors' attention suddenly shifted from AI-capex fears to the Strait of Hormuz and the Iran war, this article was triggered by the news that cloud infrastructure emerges as the quiet winner of the AI boom as it offered me an opportunity to stress-test my bullish rating that I issued when the stock was at $240 (which means that this call is currently underwater by roughly 13%). It might be interesting for some who have not followed me since the early innings that my research on Amazon was triggered by two aspects. First of all, I was struck by the big investment Prime Video was making in The Rings of Power Series. As a result, I analyzed the economics of the series , and I had the opportunity to understand the strength and the stickiness of Amazon's ecosystem. Secondly, being a loyal Costco ( COST ) shareholder, I realized more and more that Amazon was building something similar, but on a larger scale. As a result, I researched, and I did find that Costco truly influenced Amazon Prime . But then I also understood that Amazon's growth is not only about retail sales or Prime subscriptions. It is about its leading role in AWS, it is about possibly the best online ad business on the planet, and it is also about robotics . In one word. This is why I have argued a few times that we need to evolve Amazon's narrative . Moreover, as the AI race unfolds and the hyperscalers rush to build data centers and create the infrastructure needed to support this compute revolution, I have also become quite interested ...

matt_benoit/iStock via Getty Images U.S. refiners must increase the amount of biofuels they blend into gasoline and diesel this year and next, after the Trump administration released long-awaited biofuels blending standards on Friday that favored farmers struggling with low crop prices and high input costs. The new rule released by the Environmental Protection Agency increases biomass-based diesel—which is partly derived from soybeans—blending by more than 60%, and raises the biofuel requirement for all fuels by a lower percentage. The rule requires refiners to mix a record 25.82B gallons of biofuels into conventional diesel and gasoline this year, nearly 8% higher than was advertised last June, the EPA said. "Today's announcement, coupled with the Trump administration's E15 summertime waiver earlier this week , is a positive move for the nation's corn growers who are navigating an exceptionally difficult economic environment," the National Corn Growers Association said. The refining industry criticized the move, with the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers calling it "baffling, with fuel prices already rising due to the conflict in Iran, the EPA is finalizing a rule that will make things far worse for consumers." The EPA also said foreign fuels and feedstocks will receive only half of the RINs of U.S.-made products starting in 2028, a measure it said would help the domestic biofuel industry.
