Beijing has denounced Norway ’s latest security assessment labelling China as a threat, dismissing the report as “sheer speculation and imagination” while accusing Oslo of holding a “misguided” view that risked damage to ties. And I used to share the same sentiment as Warren Buffett regarding crypto. There aren't any numbers associated with crypto. No cash flow, balance sheet, ROI, ROE, earnings growth, NAV growth, or book value to analyze. Investing in crypto is speculative, as one can hope that the next buyer is willing to pay a higher price than what you paid for it. With stocks, share price growth typically follows earnings growth. If earnings grow at a high rate, then it's likely so will the stock, and so on and so forth. Although I remain somewhat hesitant, I do believe that crypto is here to stay and will continue to shape the future. As a result, I have been contemplating adding exposure on the current downturn. Long-term, I'm bullish on Bitcoin despite the high volatility and think that it will continue to make new highs in the coming years. Mainly due to rising demand and continued adoption & integration. And despite my skepticism, I think the sharp pullback in iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF's ( IBIT ) price is a potential buying opportunity for less risk-averse, long-term investors. A Crypto Winter? At the time of writing, Bitcoin sits at $62,700 and has been selling off dramatically . Most know crypto is highly volatile, one of the main reasons I've been reluctant to add exposure to my portfolio. But like any investment, I think the price you pay is one of the most important metrics. And because I believe crypto is here to stay and will go up over time, I believe now may be a good time to dip your toes in it for diversification. There are several themes that have been repeating in the last few quarters, or even years, and this week was no exception. Fierce competition in obesity continues in both the commercial market (including compounders) and clinical trials, drug pricing is an ongoing theme, loss of exclusivity is either ongoing or expected for most big pharma companies, and there remains an apparent lack of sufficient in-house innovation that is forcing big pharma to look outside for in-licensing deals or buyouts. This week’s earnings scorecard Most big pharma companies beat Q4 2025 revenue and EPS expectations. Novartis was the only company that missed revenue estimates, and no company missed EPS estimates. I included Biogen ( BIIB ), although it may not technically count as big pharma. Seeking Alpha The broader market volatility did not stop these 10 companies from delivering an average gain of 5.4% this week. Bank of America named five stocks this week that have more room to run following the release of their latest earnings results. The Wall Street investment bank said companies including Boot Barn are compelling, and offer further upside. Other buy-rated names screened by CNBC Pro include Equity LifeStyle Properties , CACI International, Teledyne Technologies and Cullen/Frost Bankers. CACI International The IT infrastructure services company is firing on all cylinders, the bank said following CACI's earnings report in January. "Once again, CACI demonstrated its ability to manage a challenging macro environment and posted stronger than expected margin expansion & [free cash flow] generation despite the slowness in the award environment throughout the quarter," analyst Mariana Perez Mora wrote. In addition, last year's government shutdown is showing no signs of holding back the company, Bank of America added, as CACI also raised its full year outlook. Reflecting that optimism, Perez Mora also raised her price target on the stock to $750 per share from $670. "CACI continues to dominate," she said. The stock is up 16% this year. Equity LifeStyle Properties Earnings in January showed that business is humming at the real estate investment trust and operator of RV campgrounds and manufactured home communities, according to the bank. Analyst Jana Galan recently upgraded the stock to buy from neutral, calling it a "relative winner." "Demand for ELS's primarily age‑restricted [mobile home] portfolio is more driven by demographics and the migration of retirees," she wrote. The bank also said concerns about the RV business being too transient are exaggerated and that Equity LifeStyle is well positioned in a choppy macroeconomic environment. "We are favorable on ELS's operating fundamentals given consistent, steady rent increases of MH sites, stickiness of customers and relatively low supply risk," she went on. NatWest Group Plc is closing in on a takeover of wealth management group Evelyn Partners after beating out Barclays Plc in a hotly contested auction, according to people with knowledge of the matter. NatWest is expected to pay about £2.7 billion ($3.7 billion) and a deal could be announced as soon as Monday, according to the people who asked to remain anonymous as details of the talks are private. Negotiations with Evelyn’s private equity owners Permira and Warburg Pincus are ongoing and could still fall apart, they added. NatWest, Barclays, Permira and Warburg Pincus declined to comment. The potential acquisition of Evelyn would accelerate Chief Executive Officer Paul Thwaite ’s push to simplify NatWest and expand in priority growth areas, particularly wealth management and affluent clients. Evelyn, formerly known as Tilney Smith & Williamson, oversees about £67 billion of client assets and would bolster NatWest’s Coutts private banking arm. The previous year had an excellent run, with the S&P500 gaining nearly 19%, obviously, with many ups and downs. In January 2026, we have already seen the S&P 500 make new all-time highs four times. When the Swiss skier Franjo von Allmen first broke through in the junior ranks, his village butcher created a special sausage – the Silberblitz-Wurscht or Silver Lightning – in his honour. After his stunning performance in the men’s downhill on Saturday, it is surely time for an upgrade. On a beautiful day in Bornio, the 24-year-old dominated a challenging course to win in 1:min 51.61sec and take the first medal of these Olympic Games. That time was good enough to withstand Italy’s Giovanni Franzoni, who finished with the silver medal 0.20sec back. Another Italian, Dominik Paris, who is vocalist of a heavy metal band called Rise of Voltage, claimed bronze. “It feels like a movie, not really real,” Von Allmen said. “I can’t tell you what it means to me. For now, can you imagine doing better at the Olympics?” When asked about the secret to his success he said: “Try to enjoy skiing, really,. I was relaxed in the morning and tried to keep the good feelings from the training, tried to fit all the pieces together from the training and just have fun.” Von Allmen, who became the youngest downhill world champion in 36 years last year, has done it the hard way. At 17, his father died and he had to crowdfund in order to continue skiing, before making the Swiss squad a year later. Unlike other racers who attend ski academies, he had to work, in his case on construction sites, in the summer. That experience not only helped his wallet, but built his physique and his character. “I had to go the extra mile and that shaped me,” he said.
