metamorworks Buyout firm Leonard Green & Partners is reportedly close to acquiring Cumming Group from New Mountain Capital , in a transaction that could value the business at around $3 billion including debt. The deal, which could be announced within weeks, would transfer ownership of a consultancy known for advising on major infrastructure developments worldwide, including the multibillion-dollar overhaul of Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport . The potential acquisition comes against a challenging backdrop for private equity firms, as higher borrowing costs, rapid advances in artificial intelligence and geopolitical instability weigh on dealmaking activity. Industry data indicates that exits backed by private equity have dropped significantly this year, reflecting a more difficult environment for sellers. For New Mountain, the transaction would mark one of its largest divestments in recent years, following a decision to shelve plans to sell a group of healthcare technology assets. Leonard Green has remained active despite the slowdown, recently taking a majority position in the Topgolf and Toptracer business from Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp. in a deal that valued the unit at about $1.1 billion. The 31-year-old sustained a puncture as did Pogacar and their great rival Mathieu van der Poel, who had two mechanical problems and could not contest the final sprint, which went in Van Aert’s favour for his second title in one of the five Monument classics after his Milan-Sanremo victory in 2020. Express/Hulton Archive via Getty Images The global economy is facing a jarring sense of déjà vu, as rising oil prices driven by conflict in the Middle East revive concerns reminiscent of the 1970s energy crises, the Associated Press reported Sunday. The surge in energy costs affecting gasoline, diesel and jet fuel has renewed worries about stagflation, the painful combination of slow growth and persistent inflation that defined that earlier era. Yet economists and energy experts say the current situation, while serious, is not an exact replay. Governments and industries have spent decades adapting to energy shocks, leaving today’s economy more resilient than it was half a century ago. “We have decades of experience now dealing with these kinds of oil shocks,’’ said Amy Myers Jaffe, research professor at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs. The present disruption stems from the conflict involving Iran, which has effectively halted much of the flow through the Strait of Hormuz—a key chokepoint that typically carries about one-fifth of global oil supply. While some shipments have been rerouted, a significant portion of daily output remains offline, making the shock larger in scale than past disruptions such as the 1973 embargo. Despite the magnitude, structural changes in the global energy system are helping to soften the blow. Oil now accounts for a smaller share of total energy consumption than it did in the 1970s, with natural gas, nuclear power and renewables playing a much larger role. The United States, in particular, has undergone a dramatic transformation. Once heavily dependent on imports, the country has boosted domestic production through advances such as hydraulic fracturing, eventually becoming a net exporter of petroleum. “The U.S. economy is much better positioned than it was in the 1970s,” when it was “particularly vulnerable to an oil price shock,” said Sam Ori, executive director of the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute. By the final whistle that stiff breeze had dropped a little but so, too, had the morale of Tottenham and their new manager. In cementing the visitors’ position in the bottom three with six games to go, Nordi Mukiele’s second half winner ensured Régis Le Bris’s Sunderland rose to 10th. De Zerbi’s unusually subdued body language suggested he was shivering inside. Continue reading...

( CRWV ), and even Nebius ( NBIS ). The past few months have been really tough as the market wonders whether the backlog from the growing AI capital expenditure can keep on growing without some needed digestion phase. Claude Code public code changes (The Information) Thanks to incredible interest and adoption in vibe coding using Anthropic’s Claude Code ( ANTHRO ), this new lease of life looks to be more sustainable now than what I’ve observed in the past few months. And the optimism has also been felt with CRWV, as the price action has recovered much of the losses from early 2026. In addition, NBIS even touched a new high last week, indicating that this rebound isn’t isolated and may be more sustainable than we think. And with that, I think it’s finally timely for me to contemplate whether my cautious rating on CRWV is still apt , as AI picks and shovel plays receive the market’s attention once again. After a period of consolidation and after falling almost 60% through the late 2025 lows, it does appear that the market believes that a further breakdown below the $65 level appears increasingly unlikely. CoreWeave: Meta and Anthropic Deals Confirm Insatiable Appetite for Capacity CoreWeave and Meta expands AI infrastructure deal (Seeking Alpha) First up, CoreWeave expanded its agreement with Meta last week, laying out the revenue runway with the company through 2032, with a capacity agreement worth $21B. Meta Platforms ( META ) has returned to wow the world, as it reignited the AGI race with its newly launched Muse Spark models. Meta is obviously under significant pressure to justify the price tag as it commingles world-class talents for the Meta Superintelligence Lab. On a typically nervy afternoon on the Trent, one of the biggest cheers of the afternoon arrived in the seconds after the final whistle, news over the speakers that Tottenham were still trailing at Sunderland. For Nottingham Forest, a creditable draw against Aston Villa takes them another precious point towards Premier League safety, Neco Williams’s low strike cancelling out Murillo’s own goal; confirmation that Forest are now three clear of the relegation zone was greeted as warmly as one would expect. These teams could meet again at the end of the month in a Europa League semi-final but, for now, there are more pressing priorities for both teams. For the fourth successive season, Villa again left the City Ground without the full bounty and they wasted a series of chances to earn victory, Morgan Rogers skying a shot from close range and Ollie Watkins also sent a shot sailing over the bar.
