Noko LTD/E+ via Getty Images The last time I spoke about Neumora Therapeutics ( NMRA ), it was with a Seeking Alpha article entitled " Neumora: Kostal-1 Readout For MDD Treatment Is First Study On Deck ." With respect to this article, I mentioned that it would release data from its KOASTAL-1 study using its drug navacaprant for the treatment of patients with major depressive disorder [MDD] by the end of 2024. It finally released results from this, the first of three replicate studies from its KOASTAL program. Today, I'm downgrading this stock to a "Hold" rating from a "Strong Buy" rating. The first reason is because of the fact that it failed to achieve the primary endpoint of reduction in depressive symptoms as measured by MADRS total score compared to placebo. The company did change the protocol for the other studies as part of the KOASTAL program, KOASTAL-2 and KOASTAL-3, which is a good thing. It increased enrollment for each of these studies and expects a topline data readout from each in Q2 of 2026. While this approach might end up working out, the fact is that the company has a steep uphill battle to climb here, in my opinion. It's still a risk, as increasing the number of patients is not guaranteed to generate a study win. The second reason why I'm downgrading to keep this stock at a "Hold" rating is because the company did achieve a highly successful outcome using another drug from its pipeline, known as V1aR antagonist NMRA-511, to treat patients with Alzheimer's Disease [AD] agitation. In the modified analysis set [MAS], with a total of 71 patients given this drug with twice-daily [BID] dosing, achieved a placebo-adjusted change from baseline on the CMAI total score of -2.6 and -2.1 was achieved at weeks 6 and 8, respectively. A further enhanced effect of CMAI score in the same time period in patients with elevated anxiety was achieved. Although the company billed the results as positive—the REVEAL-1 study did meet the primary endpoint—investors seemed to be expecting more. That endpoint was a statistically significant reduction in proptosis when dosed every four weeks. The study trial examined elegrobart given every four and eight weeks. Data showed that when dosed every four weeks, the proptosis responder rate (exophthalmometry) was 54% compared to 18% in the placebo arm. In the every eight-week cohort, the figures were, respectively, 64% and 18%. Also, c omplete resolution of diplopia was seen in 51% of patients given elegrobart every four weeks and 28% every eight weeks versus 16% for placebo at week 24. Viridian said it anticipates submitting a BLA for elegrobart in Q1 2027. Oppenheimer's Lelean Gershell said that he was "underwhelmed by the overall efficacy profile of both" dosing schedules. Instagram is testing a new premium subscription that gives paying users access to exclusive features, part of an effort to build a reliable revenue stream outside of the company’s core advertising business. The list of subscribers-only perks include several related to Instagram’s Stories product, such as the ability to view another person’s Story without them knowing. Paying users can also create unlimited audience lists and extend a Story’s shelf-life by an additional 24 hours. Stories, one of the app’s most popular features , currently expire after 24 hours. “Our hope from these tests is to understand what’s most valuable to people in a premium feature set,” an Instagram spokesperson said on Monday, confirming that the company is testing the premium subscriber tier in a few countries. TechCrunch , which first reported on the test, said the company is offering the subscriptions in Mexico, Japan and the Philippines, and charging just a few dollars per month. Instagram parent Meta Platforms Inc. has tried various subscription products over the years and offers one so people can support content creators they follow. Other advertising-dependent companies, including Snap Inc. and Elon Musk ’s X, have also pushed into subscriptions, which are considered complementary to ads and provide a more predictable source of revenue. Meta is also considering premium subscriptions for Facebook and WhatsApp, the company confirmed in February.

hyejin kang/iStock via Getty Images While equities are struggling to pick a direction as of midday, the weakness at the end of last week has marked fresh lows for the broad market and some of the most influential names: the Magnificent Seven. This group of mega-cap tech names - Apple ( AAPL ), Amazon ( AMZN ), Alphabet ( GOOGL ), Meta ( META ), Microsoft ( MSFT ), NVIDIA ( NVDA ), and Tesla ( TSLA ) - officially entered correction in the middle of the month, and through last week's lows, it was approaching bear market territory. Since the October 29th high, the group has fallen 17.4% through Friday's low. While it is not yet a bear market, this is now the most severe drawdown since the tariff tantrum last spring and the 2022 bear market before that. And although the index itself isn't in a bear market, five of the seven underlying stocks are now officially in a bear after Amazon and Alphabet both closed down over 20% from their highs last Friday. In the table below, we show the seven members of this group, if they are currently in a bull or bear market, how far they are from all-time highs, and where their valuations stand after that move. Again, all of these stocks are in bear markets now with the exception of NVIDIA and Apple. Of those two, NVDA is very close to joining the rest of the pack, as it is now down 19.4%. AAPL would need to fall much further, as it is down only 13.6%. Conversely, Microsoft and Meta have led the way lower with declines eclipsing 30% versus their respective peaks. Last week we discussed how the tech sector and adjacent areas like the Magnificent 7 may have seen stagnant to outright weak price action in recent months, but that has resulted in falling multiples as estimates remain optimistic for the underlying businesses for the year ahead.
