William_Potter OPEC+ has confirmed it will keep oil production unchanged in March, extending a three-month supply freeze even as crude prices climbed to their highest level in four months. The decision was reaffirmed during a video meeting on Sunday by eight core members of the group, led by Saudi Arabia and Russia. The pause was first agreed in November, and delegates said discussions about policy after the first quarter were deferred until the group’s next meeting on March 1. Oil prices rallied above $70 a barrel in London last week after Donald Trump warned that Iran could face military action if it failed to reach a new nuclear agreement. Even so, the alliance opted not to adjust supply, sticking with its usual practice of waiting for concrete changes in physical flows before responding to geopolitical risks. In theory, key OPEC+ producers still have around 1.2 million barrels a day of output that has been kept offline since 2023. Saudi Arabia and some partners, including the United Arab Emirates, have signaled interest in gradually restoring production, though market conditions may complicate that path. Source: Finviz Trump Investment To start last week, USA Rare Earth announced a major capital raise of $3.1 billion plus warrants as follows: $1.3 billion - senior secured loan from the CHIPS Act $277 million - 16.1 million shares @ $17.17 $300 million - 17.6 million warrants @ $17.17 $1.5 billion - private capital raise for 69.8 million shares at $21.50 The stock is already trading over the warrant price, so the company is highly likely to raise the additional $300 million in capital from the warrants. USA effectively sold over 103 million shares, diluting shareholders by over 50%. The company entered a non-binding letter of intent with the U.S. Department of Commerce requiring the issuance of shares and warrants as President Trump has pushed the government to take equity stakes when helping the company advance the plans to build out the magnet manufacturing facility in Oklahoma and the rare earth mine in Texas called Round Top. In total, USA Rare Earth has plans totaling $4.1 billion in costs, and the government funding was seen as a huge positive to get the necessary capital to move forward. Cancer patients are being denied access to cutting-edge treatments on the NHS because of a “deadly postcode lottery” in access, doctors have warned. Patients in England are missing out on two innovative forms of radiotherapy that are known to be effective against several forms of the disease and are widely available in other countries, due to “red tape” and lack of funding. The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and Radiotherapy UK want Wes Streeting to use the government’s new cancer plan, being published this week, to make them widely available. They are urging the health secretary to end what they say are “bureaucratic hurdles” that NHS England imposes, through its complex funding and commissioning policies, on hospitals that want to provide stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) and molecular radiotherapy (MRT). Unlocking the potential of the novel treatments would help improve cancer survival, which is poor in Britain by international standards, both organisations said. The same “red tape” means only half of cancer centres in England can offer surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT), a technology that uses real-time 3D cameras to make radiotherapy more accurate and reduces its long-term effects on organs such as the heart. Hospitals that do have the necessary equipment only have it as a result of local or health charities paying the £250,000 involved, because NHS England does not provide funding.
