The company will restore unpaid time off that it "illegally" docked from employees who walked off the job and "ensure all Amazon workers can strike in the future without losing their UPT," the International Brotherhood of Teamsters said Tuesday in a release. More than 100 employees will have unpaid time off restored, according to the National Labor Relations Board settlement. Amazon spokesperson Eileen Hards told CNBC in a statement that it didn't admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement. "While we believe our team managed these situations appropriately, we've agreed to resolve the matter so we can move forward and continue working directly with our employees to make Amazon a great place to work," Hards said in a statement. Amazon gives frontline workers a limited number of hours of unpaid leave, which it said can be used for "last minute issues or emergencies," according to an internal employee handbook cited in the NLRB's complaint. Employees risk being fired if they use more UPT hours than they're allotted. The NLRB cited several cases since 2022 where Amazon deducted employees' UPT after they walked out. In at least one case, striking workers feared they would lose their job after their UPT "went negative" once it was deducted by Amazon, according to the complaint. "Those deductions and points are unlawfully coercive in and of themselves, because they warn employees that their protected activity is inching them ever closer to termination," the NLRB wrote. The GENIUS Act was signed on July 18, 2025, and establishes a regulatory framework for payment stablecoins. The regulation requires issuers to maintain 100% reserves in safe assets, mandates monthly disclosures, and authorizes bank regulators to supervise issuers to ensure stability. A key area of concern for stablecoins is the potential for stablecoin use in money laundering or terrorist financing, noted Barr. Stablecoins can be purchased in secondary markets that may not have customer identification requirements, and both regulatory and technological solutions will be needed to limit these risks. Another area of concern is financial stability. "People purchasing something called a stablecoin might reasonably assume that they can rely on redemption at par on demand. The quality and liquidity of the reserve assets backing stablecoins could make them vulnerable," said Barr. "At the same time, stablecoin issuers have an incentive to maximize the return on their reserve assets by extending the risk spectrum out as far as possible," said the Fed governor. The tech space is in people's minds, but not in the same way. How are you looking at the markets right now? Tech Contrarians: So first, thanks for having me back. It's always a great time to talk with you about the tech space and everything happening in general. So great question. Really, the backdrop on tech, especially after Q1 as we wrap up Q1, is definitely different from the tone that we saw for the bulk of 2025. I think even last time we spoke, which was around mid-February, and that was pre-war, we talked about this dynamic that was building in the market between a tug of war between greed and fear and more weighted towards the latter. People were kind of afraid, premium valuations kind of. We started seeing big tech companies like Broadcom ( AVGO ) or like Nvidia ( NVDA ) report stellar numbers, but the stock still seemed relatively broken . And we saw that continue on and off through Q1. There's definitely a lot more investor scrutiny on the AI cap expense, specifically on the roadmap of where we're heading in this AI cycle. We saw guys like Credo ( CRDO ) do exceptionally well. But the stock still is depressed year to date down, I think, about 37%. Gearing Up For Artemis II: NASA's High-Stakes Test Run Around the Moon NASA is gearing up for Artemis II, its first crewed mission to the moon since the Apollo era—but this one is more of a high-speed dress rehearsal than a landing, according to KSL.com . Four astronauts will take a roughly 10-day trip that loops around the moon and comes straight back, with no orbiting or moonwalks. The crew—Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen—marks a few firsts: the first woman, first person of color, and first non-American assigned to a lunar mission. Koch already holds the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman, while Glover previously made history aboard the International Space Station. Hansen, representing Canada, is the only rookie in the group. They’ll launch aboard NASA’s massive Space Launch System rocket, with the Orion capsule on top. The moon will loom large during the flyby, and the crew is expected to document rarely seen regions of its far side. After about six days, they’ll slingshot back toward Earth, wrapping up the mission with a Pacific Ocean splashdown just under 10 days after launch. The most important US offshore oil varieties are commanding the highest premiums since as far back as the Covid-19 pandemic as energy-market chaos from the Iran war worsens. Overseas demand is soaring for high-sulfur US crude grades that are broadly comparable to Middle Eastern supplies cut off as missiles and drones rain down on Persian Gulf oil fields and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has effectively ceased. Refineries around the world are typically geared to optimally process very specific types and proportions of oil varieties, which often makes substituting normal supplies with replacement barrels tricky — and expensive. Mars crude from the Gulf of Mexico was fetching $15 a barrel more than the US benchmark West Texas Intermediate as of late Monday, the widest spread since the darkest days of the global pandemic in April 2020, according to Link Data Services LLC. That was a landmark month in the history of the petroleum industry because worldwide energy demand collapsed and crude prices briefly went negative. Another key high-sulfur oil pumped from US Gulf fields, Poseidon , was also trading at close to a $15 premium, the highest in Link figures going back to 2022. Shortly after the conflict erupted with US and Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic on Feb. 28, the Trump administration sought to calm oil-price volatility by releasing millions of barrels of emergency oil reserves from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Although the SPR is mostly comprised of so-called sour crudes like Mars and Poseidon, the commitments to distribute those supplies haven’t been enough to plug the deficit of Persian Gulf supplies. Meanwhile, exports of all types of US crude are set to hit an all-time high in April, with some traders predicting volumes around 5 million barrels a day. With West Texas Intermediate recently trading at the steepest discount to the international benchmark in 12 years, foreign buyers are snapping up cargoes.
