Ekaterina79 The trending "KitKat heist," which sounds like a movie plot, has turned into a promotional goldmine for Nestlé ( NSRGY ). Over 400,000 KitKat bars, weighing about 12 tons, were stolen last week from a truck that was en route from a factory in central Italy to Poland. KitKat said there are no concerns for consumer safety and supply is not affected. But the vehicle and its contents remain unaccounted for, and investigations are ongoing. "We've always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat – but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally and made a break with more than 12 tons of our chocolate," the brand's spokesperson said. "Whilst we appreciate the criminals' exceptional taste, the fact remains that cargo theft is an escalating issue for businesses of all sizes," they added. The heist — and the company's tongue-in-cheek response — kicked off a wave of memes on social media, with several companies joining in. "Sorry guys we were product testing for our 12th herb and spice," KFC ( YUM ) posted on its official X handle, while Domino's Pizza UK ( DPZ ) jokingly shared that it'll "now be selling a new KitKat pizza." Diner chain Denny's said ,"whatever happened to those kitkats happened between 1:30 AM and 4:00 AM and we were very busy, no further questions." "Due to a completely random packaging error, we have 12 tons of KitKats in our DashMarts that we can't sell," DoorDash ( DASH ) posted on X. "The good news: all you have to do is to go to your DoorDash app and add like 500-600 KitKats to your cart and this should resolve itself quickly." "On an unrelated note, we just got this email from the boss," Microsoft ( MSFT ) Edge posted on X, showing an email that said, "Hey! Quick question: why do we have 14 boxes of KitKats in the office? Nestlé ( NSRGY ) "embraced the opportunity and turned it into a positive," Andrew Bloch, who runs PR consultancy Andrew Bloch & Associates, told The Wall Street Journal . "It's a master class in public relati...

Iran’s blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, which has choked off energy supplies from the Middle East, is “global economic extortion,” according to the head of the United Arab Emirates’ largest energy company. The effective closure of the key waterway is “a threat the world cannot tolerate,” Sultan Al Jaber , chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. , said in an post on LinkedIn. “The world must act — together — to protect the free flow of energy and safeguard economic stability.” Al Jaber, who is also a UAE minister, has been one of the country’s most outspoken business leaders in criticizing Iran and calling for the strait to reopen. Last month, he said Iran was “weaponizing” energy flows and called its actions “economic terrorism.” He reiterated the message in a recorded address to the CERAWeek conference, a key oil industry gathering held in Houston. About a fifth of the world’s oil and gas transits through Hormuz, and the closure has also impacted fertilizer and metal supplies. Brent crude has jumped about 42% since the conflict began, though prices have been volatile amid mixed messages about when and how it will end. Prices slipped on Wednesday as President Donald Trump indicated that the US could leave the country within weeks.
