Get ahead of the market by subscribing to Seeking Alpha's Wall Street Week Ahead, a preview of key events scheduled for the coming week. The newsletter keeps you informed of the biggest stories set to make headlines, including upcoming IPOs, investor days, earnings reports, and conference presentations. Wall Street was mixed on Friday as investors weighed global developments and central bank signals, capping a volatile week marked by disappointing earnings from Intel. From a sector standpoint, six of the S&P 500's 11 sectors were trading in positive trading territory with energy leading the way. In reverse, financials have been the weakest performer. President Donald Trump on Thursday said the U.S. would essentially have "total access" to Greenland under the deal that is being negotiated with NATO, according to an interview with Fox Business. As tech earnings take centre stage in the coming week, the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision will dominate the economic calendar. The first half of the week is expected to be comparatively lighter, with consumer confidence data releasing on Tuesday and Donald Trump's speech due on Wednesday. The Fed's rate decision will be out on Thursday, along with initial jobless claims. On Friday, PPI data for December and the Chicago PMI are scheduled to be released. The week ending January 30 will see major S&P 500 companies, including Apple ( AAPL ), Microsoft ( MSFT ), Meta Platforms ( META ), Tesla ( TSLA ), Boeing ( BA ), Visa ( V ), and Mastercard ( MA ), releasing their quarterly financial results. _______________________________________________________________ Earnings spotlight: Tuesday: Boeing, UnitedHealth ( UNH ), Texas Instruments ( TXN ), RTX Corp ( RTX ), General Motors ( GM ).
