Southwark Playhouse Borough, London The songs soar and blast in this inventive tale of a toxic romance – though it needs a few tweaks to be truly brilliant The scope and ambition of this dark musical by Theo Jamieson and Adam Lenson are boundless. A jagged, time- and space-travelling drama about the emotional wreckage of a mutually destructive relationship, it begins with reports of a young astronaut who has gone awol in a shuttle. Why has Daniel (Stuart Thompson, fabulous) disappeared with such limited fuel and what is the point of his kamikaze journey? A non-sequential backstory emerges featuring his relationship with Emily (Poppy Gilbert, just as good) to build a chopped-up picture of their relationship, rather like The Last Five Years . It shows glimpses of formative traumas and cruelties. Daniel, bullied as a child, seems unconsciously drawn to someone who inflicts similar emotional damage. Emily lives in a state of guilt and betrayal passed on by her parents (especially her philandering film-maker father, who co-opts his teenage daughter into his web of infidelity and deception). At Southwark Playhouse Borough, London , until 16 May Continue reading...

Speculation Surges That Pakistan Talks Are A Delay Tactic Ahead Of Expanded US Action On Iran President Trump has made clear that American forces will still be "hanging around" the Persian Gulf area with an eye on Iran, while demanding that the Strait of Hormuz be opened to global energy transit once again. Trump has vowed to keep troops positioned for a fight "until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with." As direct US-Iran talks are set for Islamabad Saturday morning, there's been an avalanche of speculation that the ceasefire could be 'cover' for a greater Pentagon force build-up and bigger impending operation . USAF file image Some pundits say that Washington needed more time to get large contingencies of Marines and Airborne units in place, possibly for some kind of risky island campaign towards reopening the strait. This could be the case, as it's also very evident to all that the demands of each side remain far apart, which means the chances for a breakthrough deal which finally ends the war are distant. With a two week timeline in place to reach a deal, is this interim period merely for rearming and regrouping of forces on each side? Clearly, the US wasn't prepared for the fierce, sustained Iranian counter-attack on American regional bases and Gulf allies . Open-source data of military logistics flights between the US, Europe, and the Mideast region suggests there is indeed an ongoing build-up and posturing of forces happening on the eve of the Pakistan summit . Still, it's clear that Trump needs an offramp, or else face the kind of endless military quagmire which would likely inevitably lead to the GOP getting decimated in next fall's midterm Congressional elections. Case in point: More than 70 transport planes landed in the Middle East within 24 hours of the ceasefire taking effect. That scale suggests possible preparation for a ground offensive, solidifying suspicion that Trump is using the truce to regroup: https://t.co/MHlFQjz1Tk...

SlavkoSereda/iStock via Getty Images The iShares Future Exponential Technologies ETF ( XT ) is an international, but still mostly US, tech-focused ETF that tries to capture a disruptor factor in markets. It is quite correlated to the US markets in general. Correlations (VTS) The main thing we want to discuss is the reinflation factor around the geopolitical developments of the Iran War. High multiple ETFs, unsurprisingly like tech-focused XT, are levered to cost of capital assumptions, especially in the longer term. Data by YCharts XT, which has a 30x P/E compared to the S&P 500's (IVV) 27x P/E, had fallen more sharply and rebounded more sharply in response to the latest geopolitical developments, namely what seemed to be a ceasefire, though now again in question. This reflects the association of a higher PE, meaning more value in the horizon, to cost of capital assumptions that bear harder on companies with implied cash flows that are more distantly deferred. We continue to be worried about the yield curve and cost of capital. Dim hopes for the ceasefire, low US jobless applications, and inevitable CPI spikes that could interact with inflation expectations all threaten high multiple market plays, which are constituted by any ETF heavily indexed towards tech like XT. With the inflation aspect of the case being a factor across the globe due to the higher oil price, the XT's geographic diversity relative to the IVV isn't enough to mitigate the danger. XT Breakdown XT is actually less exposed to the mega-cap exposures in the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF ( IVV ). There is less exposure to NVIDIA Corporation ( NVDA ), about half the exposure at a little under 4%, and the trillion-cap tech stocks don't dominate the top 10 holdings as much. Texas Instruments Incorporated ( TXN ) instead holds the top spot at a little over 4% exposure. So XT is certainly not value weighted, and the slightly more involved balancing does mean a higher expense ratio than the IVV at 0.46% compared ...

Elbit Systems has soared 60% so far in 2026, and is set to add further to those gains gains, according to Bank of America. In a research report out Friday, the bank reiterated a buy rating on shares of the Israeli defense company and hiked its 12-month price target to $1,075, implying a nearly 16% gain from Thursday's close. With no shortage of demand for defense technology, analysts led by Ronald Epstein said Elbit is a unique way for investors to gain diverse exposure in the sector. "Elbit's significant investments in R & D, CapEx, and M & A have yielded a technology portfolio required in today's battlefield and with the capacity in place to capture the demand," Epstein wrote. ESLT YTD mountain Elbit Systems (ESLT) in 2025. Epstein estimates that the land technology business will grow 30% in 2026 as demand for replenishing munitions grows. Elbit's intelligence surveillance target acquisition and reconnaissance and electronic warfare business will grow by 15%, driven by development of high power laser technologies, Bank of America said. That technology is important when supplying systems such as Israel's Iron Dome and the proposed " Golden Dome " in the U.S. Together, it creates a portfolio of "battlefield tested tech" for Elbit, which has market value of almost $44 billion, Epstein wrote. And while the stock has more than doubled in the past year and trades at more than 60 times forward earnings, Elbit is nonetheless positioned to extend its gains. "We view the multiple above defense peers as fairly addressing Elbit's defense tech like capabilities and agility with the advantages of capacity and global presence of the defense primes," Epstein wrote. Elbit, which trades on Nasdaq, is almost 4% higher this week. On March 17, the contractor closed above $1,000, reaching $1,014.33.
