Broadcom Inc. , one of the most valuable publicly traded semiconductor companies, named Alphabet Inc. executive Amie Thuener as its next chief financial officer, replacing the retiring Kirsten Spears . Thuener, who has served as Alphabet chief accounting officer and corporate controller since 2018, will take the new job on June 12, Broadcom said in a statement Thursday. Prior to joining Alphabet, Thuener worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP . Spears, meanwhile, oversaw Broadcom’s finances during a period of rapid expansion. Chief Executive Officer Hock Tan built the current Broadcom through a string of deals, pushing the chipmaker into a wide range of markets. “I want to thank Kirsten for her significant contributions and dedication to Broadcom over the past 12 years,” Tan said in the statement. Thuener will bring “deep experience in financial reporting, corporate governance, AI-related transactions and leading complex, global organizations to the company as we continue to focus on creating value for our shareholders.” Under Tan’s leadership, Broadcom has become central to a spending boom for artificial intelligence computing. The company, now valued at close to $1.5 trillion, makes networking chips and custom semiconductors for some of the world’s biggest companies. That flood of orders has put sales on course to grow more than 60% this fiscal year to more than $100 billion, according to Wall Street estimates. Separately, fellow chipmaker Intel Corp. named Zoom Communications Inc. veteran Aparna Bawa as its chief legal and people officer. She had been Zoom’s chief operating officer.

Justin Paget/DigitalVision via Getty Images Shares of Delek US Holdings ( DK ) have been an extraordinary performer over the past year, nearly tripling in value. The company has been a primary beneficiary of an easier regulatory environment for smaller refineries, as the EPA granted a backlog of exemptions (“SRE”) from renewable fuel standard requirements in 2025. More recently, the Iran War has caused crack spreads to surge, enhancing refiner profitability. I last covered shares in January , rating DK a “ S trong Buy,” and this call has worked out better than hoped, with shares up 54% in just three months. With such strong performance and a new macro environment, now is a good time to revisit Delek. Seeking Alpha Fuel disruptions lead to a surge in crack spreads Refiners make money not on the absolute price of gasoline or diesel but on the spread between product prices and crude prices, known as the crack spread. This measures how much refiners make for every barrel of crude oil. As you can see below, the spread has blown out since the outbreak of the Iran War, given impaired flows through the Strait of Hormuz. With disruptions of 10-12 million barrels a day, I expect the cumulative shortfall from this crisis to be at least 500 million barrels, a shock of extraordinary proportions. Energy Stock Channel Crack spreads are now sitting over $40, having even gotten past $60 as the physical market scrambles for product amid fears of shortages, especially in products like jet fuel and diesel. The U nited States is better positioned than Europe or much of Asia, given we are a net exporter of fuel, making physical shortages unlikely in my view. However, the pull from overseas will likely lift demand for U.S. exports and is contributing to higher spreads. This has created a windfall environment for refineries like Delek, greatly boosting their cash flow. This one-time benefit justifies the recent rally As a reminder, I view the ~$25 crack spread level as a long-term norm. Wh...

Houthis Confirm Coordination With Iran, Hezbollah In Several Attack Waves On Israel Amid several waves of missile strikes out of Yemen onto Israel from Tuesday into Wednesday, the Iran-aligned Houthis have made it clear they are coordinating with both Tehran and Hezbollah. Yemeni Brigadier General Yahya Saree said the Houthis have carried out several missile launch operations on "sensitive targets" in "southern occupied Palestine". The statement underscored this was conducted "in continuation of supporting and backing the fronts of Resistance" and as part of a "religious, moral, and humanitarian duty" toward allied forces in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine - specifically saying there was coordination with Iran . Getty Images The Houthis first announced last week they would be joining the war, but it has been the last 24 to 48 hours that Israel has really been subject of some of the biggest inbound rocket attacks in weeks . This is because not only have Houthi forces stepped up attacks alongside Iran, but Hezbollah is increasing them too : Four people were lightly injured as Hezbollah fired around 130 rockets at northern Israel on Wednesday and Thursday, the start of the Passover holiday, as the military struck dozens of sites in Lebanon belonging to the Iran-backed terror group. The bombardment as Israelis celebrated the first two days of the Passover festival sent hundreds of thousands of people into shelters, as Iran continued to also launch missiles at the country, including the north. The Houthis have very powerful, and longer-range rockets (compared to Hezbollah, apparently) - which were supplied (or assisted in terms of development) by Iran. The Houthis are warning of more missile waves to come so long as Iran is attacked, saying the US-Israeli strikes "will only push free Yemen toward further escalation . " One conflict monitor has compiled some recent examples of the tight Iran-Hezbollah-Houthi coordination this week : The coordination seems to have been ...
