As you enter this year, I have compiled 10 insights to support your 2026 AI strategy based on hundreds of partner and client engagements throughout 2025. 1. Option Paralysis is Real AI technology continues to evolve at an unprecedented pace and has resulted in option paralysis for many organizations. While some leaders are leaning in, others are waiting for the perfect solution to emerge. As a result, a “try multiple solutions” approach has been adopted as firms look to find the best solution for their needs. This has resulted in no clear winners in the AI provider race…yet. In most cases, traditional solutions are being used alongside new AI tooling. 2. Investors Continue to Bet on AI — Even If with Slight Skepticism Funding continues to pour into AI firms, both public and private. According to Capital IQ Pro, GenAI start-up applications, including foundational model providers such as OpenAI ( OPENAI ), Anthropic ( ANTHRO ), xAI and more niche providers, such as ModelML, Cohere, and Mistral AI, raised over $95B across 143 funding rounds. Valuations are high, seeing upwards of 100x multiple for some firms, but investors are still bullish - particularly as IPO speculation and the hopeful promise of big returns linger. In parallel, technology firms supporting AI infrastructure continue to shift in the market. Oracle’s ( ORCL ) 2025 debt announcement to fund various data center projects, alongside NVIDIA‘s ( NVDA ) stock fluctuations despite overall growth, highlight the capital-intensive nature of the AI ecosystem and scrutiny surrounding long-term returns. The next time you're dealing with a Social Security Administration employee, you may want to be extra kind. They're working under tremendous pressure with little reward. It was during the 43-day government shutdown in the fall of 2025 that an issue affecting many Social Security Administration (SSA) employees came to light. The majority of Social Security employees are categorized as "essential employees," meaning they had to report to work, even though they were not being paid. While higher-paid employees might have been able to get through those 43 days by withdrawing money from an emergency fund, others live too close to the edge to build a substantial emergency fund. Reports of evictions, car repossessions, and employees going without purchasing groceries became common. What an investigation found In response to news of economic struggles among Social Security workers, the Strategic Organizing Center (SOC) -- a U.S. labor coalition of unions -- decided to conduct an analysis of how much money more than 36,000 SSA frontline workers earn. The analysis found that among SSA workers represented by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), more than half (54%) are paid less than a living wage. "Living wage" refers to the minimum income a full-time employee needs to cover housing, healthcare, food, transportation, and other basic necessities. Depending on where an employee lives, the living wage can vary dramatically. In other words, 54% of full-time SSA employees don't earn enough to pay for necessities in their area. Compounding the issue, among those who have at least one dependent, 75% of SSA employees reported being the primary income earner in their households. While they work with retirees every day, these are people who might find it particularly difficult to plan for their own retirement. Poor pay and more work Early in 2025, the SSA slashed 7,000 jobs, leaving those who weren't cut with more work to do. Wendell Primus, a visiting fellow at the C...

Welcome to the Thursday issue of India Edition; I’m Menaka Doshi . Each week, I bring you a ringside view of the billionaires, businesses and policy decisions behind India’s rise as an emerging economic powerhouse. You can subscribe here , and share feedback with me here . This week: Modi’s money management skills put to the test, making up with Canada and a mega cricket match. Budget Time India’s somewhat tenuous place in global investor portfolios will be up for review this week, as a slew of data between today and Sunday will indicate if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government can sustain higher growth while maintaining budget discipline. The country is the world’s fastest growing (7.4%) amongst major economies, but tax cuts have constrained spending in the ongoing fiscal year as the government remains committed to lowering the budget gap to a targeted 4.4% of GDP. That pressure will ease somewhat next year (FY27) with a shift from narrowing the deficit to debt targeting, but gross borrowings are expected to remain high on account of debt redemption. Modi’s challenge will be to shore up revenue and maintain infrastructure spending that can continue to crowd in private investment, which is showing some green shoots of recovery. He also needs to find budget room for subsidies and social-sector spending to support an uneven recovery in consumption, while providing targeted relief to exporters impacted by US tariffs and China dumping. The fiscal math will also be impacted by any shift in revenue share between the center and states as determined by the 16th Finance Commission, whose recommendations have yet to be made public, and salary hikes for government employees that are yet under consideration but may need to be provided for in the budget. With that backdrop, here are key numbers to watch in Friday’s Economic Survey and Sunday’s union budget. GDP Estimate Most economists expect growth to slow to about 6.5% in FY27 but the government is more optimistic. It has ...

Car rams into Chabad headquarters in New York City, damaging doors toggle caption Mark Lennihan/AP A man was arrested after repeatedly crashing his car into the Chabad Lubavitch world headquarters in New York City on Wednesday night while people were gathered for prayer at the deeply revered Hasidic Jewish site. No one was injured when the driver struck a door of a building in the complex before reversing and striking it several more times. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said that while it was too early in the investigation to speculate on the driver's motives, the incident was being investigated as a possible hate crime. "This is deeply alarming, especially given the deep meaning and the history of the institution to so many in New York and around the world," said New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who called the crash "intentional." Sponsor Message Video of the crash that was posted online shows a car with New Jersey license plates moving forward and backward on an icy driveway leading to a building in the complex and ramming its basement-level doors. The driver, who is wearing shorts, emerges, shouts to bystanders that "It slipped" and says something to police about trying to park. Chabad Lubavitch spokesperson Motti Seligson said some of the doors were damaged in the crash. The Chabad Lubavitch headquarters and synagogue in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood receives thousands of visitors annually. Its Gothic Revival facade is very recognizable to adherents of the Chabad movement and has inspired dozens of replicas across the world. Commonly referred to as 770, a nod to the Eastern Parkway address of the complex's original building, the headquarters encompasses multiple adjacent structures. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez called the crash "disturbing and unacceptable." "This could have been much worse and I'm grateful that no one was hurt," he said in a post on social platform X. "My office is working closely with the NYPD to ensure justice is do...
