The S&P 500 ( SP500 ) had posted ten straight weeks of upward momentum before recent sessions, a rally that caught even bullish analysts off guard. “If you would have told everyone—I mean, if you even told Tom Lee, you know, three months ago that oil would be between 90 and a hundred, the strait would be closed, not much prospects there—would the S&P be up 10 or 15%? The answer was, you know, hey, that’s crazy,” Siegel said. The economist attributed the market’s resilience to several factors, including oil prices remaining manageable below $100 per barrel and unexpectedly strong earnings from the chip sector. The company said its new 7060XE7 series delivers network speeds of up to 1.6 terabits per second per port and is designed to connect tens of thousands of AI chips used for training and running AI models. Arista said the systems are built to support both traditional air-cooled and newer liquid-cooled data centers, which are becoming more common as AI workloads drive higher power consumption. It uses Broadcom's ( AVGO ) Tomahawk 6 networking chips. Arista's Etherlink portfolio marks a shift from selling standalone switches to offering rack-scale networking systems for AI infrastructure. Companies like Meta ( META ), Microsoft ( MSFT ), and Oracle ( ORCL ), which are expanding their AI computing capacity, said they are working with Arista on AI networking technologies. The first air-cooled systems are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2026, while additional air-cooled and liquid-cooled models are scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2027. Zambia has received enough support from bondholders to buy back its 2053 dollar debt in full, after sweetening its offer to pull in a group of holdout creditors that resisted the transaction. Participation in the tender offer launched at the end of last month has exceeded 75%, according to people familiar with the matter who asked not to be named because the information isn’t public. That level allows Zambia to force any remaining holders to sell their notes. Under the terms of the deal, creditors will receive 84.35 cents on the dollar, with the price falling toward 82.76 cents the closer support gets to 100%. The transaction appeared in jeopardy last week, with a creditor group owning more than 25% of the securities declining to participate at the original terms. Some investors had warned the deal could struggle to reach sufficient participation without the group’s backing. In response, Zambia raised its offer from the original 78 cents and extended the acceptance deadline to June 9 from June 5. The holdout group, represented by Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, said shortly after that it intended to participate in the revised offer, removing the principal obstacle to completion. A successful buy-back of the $1.36 billion of bonds will clear the way for Zambia to proceed with a debt-for-energy swap backed by the African Development Bank, which will channel savings from the buyback into investments in the country’s national power grid. Zambia’s finance ministry didn’t immediately respond to calls and messages seeking comment. Speculation had swirled that holdout investors stood to benefit from a step-up in coupon payments to 7.5% in December, from 0.5%, giving some an incentive to stay out. Zambia said Thursday that it hadn’t met a key debt-sustainability metric needed to trigger the increase, undercutting that argument. The 2053 notes were indicated 0.25 cents higher 82.67 cents on the dollar on Tuesday.
