seewhatmitchsee/iStock Editorial via Getty Images For years and years, short-sellers have had a field day profiting from the decline of Pinterest ( PINS ) shares. Over the past 5 years, the stock has gotten pummeled: Data by YCharts Short-sellers have piled on as the company has faced challenges related to tariffs and declining ad spend in the last year. However, as profitable as that trade has undoubtedly been, I believe that the days of short-sellers coming out ahead on this name have a short shelf life. My opinion, after reviewing where the company stands today, is that Pinterest is a value name at today's prices. Allow me to explain why I feel this way. Pinterest Reports More Than $1 Billion in Revenue in Q1 2026 Earnings Report The $1.01B in revenue that Pinterest reported in its Q1 2026 earnings report wasn't just an impressive number. It also represented an increase of 17.84% YoY growth in that figure. The number was also $39.40M above analysts' expectations, and it helped to contribute to the $0.27 EPS that the company posted. That EPS number was also a $0.05 surprise to the upside. As you can see from this chart, offered as an exhibit during the company's earnings presentation, the revenue growth was widespread regionally: Pinterest Q1 2026 Earnings Presentation All of that was good news, and I believe it indicates that Pinterest is starting to catch up with some of its peers in terms of ad efficiency. Growth in Monthly Active Users I don't believe that the story simply ends with Pinterest having a good quarter of advertising revenue. Rather, I believe that the company's increase in monthly active users or MAUs is yet another indicator that the company is headed in the right direction: Pinterest Q1 2026 Earnings Presentation These figures tell me that the platform is still quite engaging to a significant number of people from all around the world. In fact, the 15% YoY growth in the rest of the world figure is one that gives me a lot of hope, as I believe th...

gorodenkoff/iStock via Getty Images Thesis My buy case for Sidus Space ( SIDU ) would be that we’re seeing them transition from early-stage development to commercialisation. They now have validated in-orbit technology and a pretty decent and growing full-stack space/data platform. This is what could drive outsized revenue growth in the future relative to its current base if execution materialises here. However, we have to keep in mind that it is very early days for this company and stock, and at the current mid-$4 stock level, there will likely be some share price volatility in the near term before we see solid revenue growth. That being said, the stock has in the past seen good momentum to bring shares up into the $6 range, so with this current price pullback, I feel like it is a good time to restate my buy case. My previous coverage introduced the company's assets and satellite platform. Dilution risk Elsewhere, Sidus has recently announced a $100 million registered direct offering. They’re set to issue about 19.69 million shares at $5.08, with the proceeds aimed at things like working capital and general corporate purposes. Now, this should help strengthen their liquidity, but it does add some near-term dilution. The share price for the offering is also at a premium to current levels. It seems that with the current hype around the SpaceX IPO lifting space stock, Sidus management feels now is a good time to offer their shares. It definitely helps their balance sheet, and should raise $58.5 million from the last offering , plus this $100 million. That’s a pretty big deal for a company that had only $27 million in cash at the end of 1Q26 . The question now is whether the post-raise company with about $150 million in fresh capital is worth more than before. Sidus Space, Inc. As you would expect, the flip side to this raise would be that some investors are worried that Sidus is raising large amounts of money without actually having meaningful revenue to justify it. No...

Welcome to our guide to the commodities driving the global economy. Today, reporter Ari Natter explores why big oil companies have so little interest in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. President Donald Trump has long touted the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as the next great frontier for US oil production. Yet the industry’s biggest companies have balked at three opportunities since 2021 to acquire drilling rights for ANWR. The political realities that drove those decisions don’t seem to have changed. That was evident on Friday, when not a single oil major participated in an Interior Department lease sale for the area. The auction drew just two bidders : Anchorage-based Hex Energy and the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority, a state agency. The fight to prevent drilling in one of North America’s largest intact wildernesses has been a touchstone for environmental activists for decades . ANWR’s 20 million acres of frozen tundra are home to Porcupine caribou and polar bears that could be affected by the roads, pipelines and other infrastructure needed for oil production. Big oil companies are leery of a public backlash and mindful that political winds may shift. Any development of the region’s estimated 11.8 billion barrels of recoverable crude would take years, in which time Trump and his Republican party could be long gone from the White House. “Drillers are very hesitant to take oil and gas from ANWR because by the time oil actually gets to production we could have another Democratic administration — and the very first thing they will do is cancel leases,” Ellen Wald, a senior fellow with the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, said in an interview. “It’s almost like, what’s the point?” Oil companies’ lack of interest in ANWR is in stark contrast to their enthusiasm for the Alaska National Petroleum Reserve, which lies just a few hundred miles to the northwest. That’s in part because it was specifically set aside roughly a century ago for en...
