The Iran war risk premium that swept through crop and fertilizer markets is rapidly evaporating as fears of prolonged supply disruptions fade, easing one of the biggest threats to food inflation. Prices of urea — one of the world’s most important crop nutrients — have plunged more than 30% since mid-April, wiping out the gains triggered by the conflict. That’s dragging down prices of corn, wheat and other farm products, with the Bloomberg Agriculture Spot Index tracking 10 of the world’s most-traded crops falling to its lowest level since March 5 on Friday. It’s a dramatic reversal from the early weeks of the war when the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz choked off about a third of globally traded urea supplies, sending prices soaring and leaving farmers scrambling for alternatives . The decline may curb farm input costs and slow the pace of food inflation, but experts caution that energy prices remain elevated, while fertilizer is still sensitive to flare-ups in Middle East tensions. “What we’re seeing is the market unwinding the risk premium,” said Kang Wei Cheang, an agricultural broker at StoneX in Singapore. “That said, we’re not fully out of the woods. The initial shock was real.” The collapse in prices of urea, the most widely-used nitrogen fertilizer, came after China eased export restrictions and as the market takes into account supplies stranded at Hormuz, according to FertiStream , one of the world’s largest fertilizer traders. Lackluster grain prices have also curbed demand from farmers, said Milton Sato, the company’s head of global market intelligence. Some South Asian producers resumed output after curtailments in the early weeks of the conflict. The urea market is also seasonal and the planting season in much of the Northern Hemisphere has wound down, while Brazil deferred purchases and reduced imports from a year earlier, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. As concerns over Middle East supply ease, buyers have become less concerned about i...

aapsky/iStock via Getty Images StandardAero ( SARO ) shares have faced a significant cyclical decline despite the strong macroeconomic backdrop that supports structural improvements to the MRO market. Despite airlines cutting flights to control costs resulting from higher jet fuel prices, demand for MRO work remains strong and may be pulled forward as aircraft remain grounded for the foreseeable future. With jet fuel prices coming off their highs and passenger count remaining durable for commercial aerospace, I don't believe the geopolitical risk in the Middle East will pose material risk to the overall investment thesis for StandardAero. One beneficial factor that may come out of the turmoil is higher hours logged on next-generation LEAP and CFM-equipped aircraft, pushing the transition to the long-term, value-accretive growth strategy for StandardAero. Given the appealing market dynamics for MRO work, I am reiterating my Strong Buy rating for SARO shares with a price target of $43/share at 14.29x eFY27 EV/aEBITDA. You can read my previous coverage of StandardAero here . StandardAero Operational Update Corporate Filings StandardAero started FY26 in a position of strength with double-digit top-line growth driven by engine overhaul services. While StandardAero's growth was margin accretive, the organization faced some headwinds as it ramped up activity in next-generation programs servicing LEAP and CFM56 engines, which will likely ramp up going forward. While these programs may pressure margins in the near future as StandardAero develops its MRO processes, the transition to these next-generation engines should deliver stronger value as the organization optimizes operations, reaching the level of standards as traditional engine services. Accordingly, management is expecting the LEAP overhaul business to achieve profitability in e1h26, suggesting a major transition in eq2'26. In addition to this, StandardAero worked through its lower-margin pass-through material, setti...

Keller started working on the I-40 project in 2025, and this latest agreement follows a series of work packages that Keller is already undertaking. To date, and including this latest contract variation of $207M, Keller has secured $380M of work in relation to the I-40 reconstruction, of which $70M has been completed. The remainder of the work is expected to be completed over the next two to three years, the company said. This multi-year contract supports the group's longer-term revenue visibility and increases the group order book to a record level of approximately £1.9B. Robert Heemskerk/iStock via Getty Images The last time I wrote about Westlake Corporation ( WLK ) was an article back in 2021. Back then the economy was clearly recovering from the challenges of the pandemic in 2020. Westlake Common Stock Price History And Key Valuation Measures (Seeking Alpha Website June 7, 2026) After that article, the stock price chart makes very clear some very good profitable opportunities to sell this stock before the current decline began. Now is the time to read up on this very good opportunity to plan a suitable entrance strategy for the next business cycle. The advice of many great investors comes to mind about buying a stock (particularly a cyclical stock) so cheap that a sale produces a profit. Clearly on the chart above, there were two high pricing points for the stock price. Even now, there was clearly a stock price rally before the latest decline began. But all that volatility points to the difficulty of selling a cyclical stock like this. But this is why great investors buy bargains and (in general) sell "when the sun shines and it is expected to shine for the foreseeable future". But many investors make comments to my articles that indicate they are trying to get every last percentage point of profit out of an investment. But that can only really be told by looking in the rearview mirror. As shown above, the stock price peak actually happened twice after fiscal year 2021. The real key is that those that showed really any profit at all are likely ahead of those still holding now. The reason is that those holding now will likely have to wait for the next industry business cycle to sell. Economy This industry is extremely affected by economic policies. Right now, those policies would largely appear to be heading us in the direction of a recession and inflation. That would largely be a huge negative for the housing and automotive markets serviced. Offsetting that somewhat is the data center demand for some of the products produced here...
