Importantly, Palantir is showing that it is not just another software business, but the operating system for AI. This radically changes the assumptions for Palantir going forward. The biggest bearish argument against Palantir is the valuation, which is highly demanding from all angles. With this kind of performance, however, the valuation is changing from "extreme" to "demanding but not crazy." The Context It is nothing new to see Palantir outperforming expectations. The company has an excellent track record in this regard, as shown in the chart comparing revenue estimates and actual reported numbers. Seekig Alpha The main headwind for the investment thesis is the valuation. The stock is trading at nearly 48 times next year's revenue estimates. This makes Palantir one of the most expensive stocks in the market based on these kinds of ratios. However, the true value of a business depends on its long-term cash flow generation, not on a single metric based on current numbers. If the company is outperforming expectations and accelerating over time, the valuation ratios need to be analyzed with a much broader and more comprehensive perspective. WASHINGTON, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Self-driving company Waymo on Wednesday will defend its ​safety record before the U.S. ‌Senate Commerce Committee after federal agencies opened investigations into ‌a vehicle striking a child near an elementary school and incidents involving robotaxis driving past were loading or unloading ⁠parked school buses. The ‌Alphabet-unit (GOOG) said in written testimony for Wednesday's hearing that its ‍self-driving vehicles have "been involved in 10 times fewer serious injury or worse crashes" compared to ​human drivers covering the same mileage ‌in the same conditions and said its safety efforts were recently the subject of an independent audit. Waymo also called on Congress to pass legislation to advance ⁠self-driving vehicles arguing U.S. ​leadership "in the autonomous vehicle ​sector is now under direct threat. Since Novo ADRs peaked around $145 in mid-2024, shares have been locked in a vicious bear market, down about 64% from the highs. Average underground mining grades were on track with expectations, but recovered grades were adversely affected by lower metallurgical recoveries and the impact of an industry-wide cyanide shortage in South Africa, the company said. Sirgunhik/iStock via Getty Images Online travel aggregators (OTAs) are pinned down Tuesday as sluggish travel trends and the adoption of AI to formulate travel plans continue to weigh on the sector, leading UBS to issue a cautious commentary on the outlook for Q4 results. The proliferation of AI-driven search engines and their ability to mimic services provided by OTAs threatens traffic to OTAs, increases customer acquisition costs, and disrupts OTAs dominance in the travel segment. “Online travel is a vivid test of how AI could disrupt the aggregator model,” a study from Harvard Business Review says, adding that “Google is keeping travelers inside its AI-enhanced search environment longer and helping them curate trips before they leave the results page.” This leaves OTAs with few opportunities to cross-sell products, “weakening the network effects that supports their scale.” Reflecting investors’ concern surrounding this disintermediation risk from AI capabilities into Q4 results next week, UBS analyst Stephen Ju doesn’t see a “material shift” in this debate. Besides Expedia ( EXPE ), which saw a rerating in 2025, the others have ceded ~10% off the multiples they enjoyed from 2025 to the first half of 2025. “Although we find it difficult to believe that management teams will elect to transfer top-of-marketing-funnel travel research even further to both Google and [large-language models], we do not expect any resolution on the AI risk this year,” Ju says, adding that positive rerating to multiples seems unlikely. ( BALL ) shares jumped as much as 10% to a 52-week high on Tuesday after the aluminum packaging maker reported quarterly earnings and revenue that topped Wall Street expectations. Adjusted earnings per share of 91 cents beat the consensus estimate of 90 cents. Revenue rose to $3.35 billion, ahead of analysts’ estimates of $3.12 billion, reflecting higher global aluminum packaging volumes and favorable price mix. On a U.S. GAAP basis, net income rose to $200 million, or 75 cents a share, from a year-earlier net loss of $32 million, or a loss of 11 cents a share. For the full year, Ball ( BALL ) posted GAAP earnings per share of $3.30 and comparable diluted earnings per share of $3.57. Global aluminum packaging shipments increased 4.1% for the year and 6.0% in the fourth quarter, supported by strong demand across North America, Europe and South America. Ball ( BALL ) also highlighted shareholder returns and cash generation.
