The biggest risk with these types of companies is that they might never reach the commercialization phase for their novel technology. When I first analyzed Archer Aviation, Inc. ( ACHR ) in November 2024, I immediately fell in love with the company as I thought its technological superiority within the eVTOL sector, partnerships with both commercial and government customers, and favorable regulatory support would help the company commercialize its technology . A few months after my original article, ACHR stock more than doubled, but only for most of these gains to be wiped out in the months that followed. As of this writing, ACHR stock is up 4.7% since my article, well below the S&P 500's 11% gain during the same period. This underperformance has come on the back of massive shareholder ownership dilution (diluted shares outstanding have increased to 624 million from just 377 million in 2024), manufacturing delays, high cash burn, and failure to stick to the UAE launch timeline due to regional conflicts. Today, I thought of revisiting my thesis to determine if this is a buy-the-dip opportunity with ACHR down 29% YTD. In this analysis, I will discuss the regulatory outlook for Archer, production challenges, and balance sheet health to evaluate its prospects. My findings lead me to believe that Archer is poised to lead the global eVTOL market in the long run. Colorado is now arguably the most anti-free speech state in the union, pushing an array of measures attacking those with opposing social and political views. The irony is that the state has proved a bonanza for free speech with spectacular legal failures that reaffirmed rather than restricted the First Amendment. Now, the Democratic legislature and governor are back with new unconstitutional measures, including a requirement that lawyers not share information with federal immigration officials as a condition for filing with state courts. Colorado legislators and judges have spent years attacking core free speech and associational rights. In the last election, the state attempted to strip President Donald Trump from the ballot with the support of a majority of its Democratic-controlled state supreme court. (The effort was later declared unconstitutional in a unanimous decision by the Supreme Court. Colorado could not even get any of the liberal justices to support its actions). The state is responsible for the efforts to force business owners to create products celebrating same-sex marriages. That effort led to the Masterpiece Cake Shop case and then the 303 Creative case . Even after losing earlier efforts against Masterpiece Cake Shop owner Jack Phillips, the targeting of its owner continued for years . That litigation proved to be a tremendous victory for free speech . Although, the stock had an appealing estimated forward return, there were a lot of unknowns at that time. Since my first write-up the stock has struggled mightily, sinking more than 30% over the past 10+ months, conversely the broad market, as measured by the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust ( SPY ), has returned approximately 11%. About six weeks ago HNI announced their Q4 earnings report, so I thought now would be a good time to revisit this company. We'll take a look at the most recent earnings call, dive into some of the potential risks the company might face, as well as provide a new fair value estimate based on updated free cash flow figures. Data by YCharts Q4 2025 Earnings & Looking Ahead As mentioned above in late February HNI Corp. announced its Q4 2025 results. The company posted Non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.83, $0.08 short of analyst expectations, on revenue of $888.4M, which exceeded the consensus by a significant mark, and was a strong YoY increase of more than 38% thanks to an acquisition. The Workplace Furnishings segment saw the revenue benefits of the Steelcase acquisition immediately, with total revenue rising almost 50%, from $462M in Q4 2024, to nearly $700M in Q4 2025. Excluding the impacts of the aforementioned Steelcase deal, sales for this segment were still just north of $500M and grew year-over-year by 8.6%.
