It just operates in a very uncertain market. I rated it Hold last year, but with growth in their QNX segment, it's worth revisiting. Current Numbers Gross Profit (Fiscal 2026 Form 10-K) BlackBerry pulled in $549M in revenue with good margins. That's pretty good. Sadly, most of this didn't become free cash flow. Free cash flow (Fiscal 2026 Form 10-K) It's a tech business, so capex is low. BB's biggest issue is overhead. That eats up most of the gross profit. FCF was only $40.8M because of that. BB's $2.25B market cap could be pricey. Can management grow sales? Can they keep overhead as flat as possible too? They seem to think so. Automotive Opportunity Modern BlackBerry doesn't do cell phones anymore. They have three segments that drive the $549M in revenue: QNX, Secure Communications, and Licensing. Revenue By Segment (Q4 Fiscal 2026 Earnings Slides) Most of the business is QNX and Secure Communications. Only QNX had growth for the year. QNX makes software for edge use cases . Management mostly talks about growth from QNX. So I'm going to focus on that. Backlog Estimates (Fiscal 2026 Form 10-K) BB estimates $950M in backlog right now. They explain it in the Form 10-K (pg. 41). QNX contracts get royalties per unit car sold. So it depends on how much their customers can actually sell. Q4 Fiscal 2026 Earnings Slides In the earnings call , management talked about this. They said new deals take 2-3 years to generate revenue. So it could be a while before any of this $950M is felt. Moreno-Gama, who is scheduled to be arraigned in San Francisco Superior Court at 4:30 p.m., is charged with attempted murder , attempted arson and exploding or igniting a destructive device with intent to murder. He is separately charged by federal prosecutors with attempted damage and destruction of property by means of explosives and possession of an unregistered firearm. San Francisco Police Department officers arrested Moreno-Gama on Friday and recovered a document in his possession that detailed his intentions, according to a complaint filed in San Francisco federal court on Monday.
