Gold was steady, after Israel and Iran agreed to end attacks that had jeopardized talks to end the war in the Middle East. Bullion was near $4,325 an ounce in early trading, having closed the previous session little changed. The pledges from the two sides to stop missile strikes followed an appeal by US President Donald Trump for de-escalation as he seeks a wider resolution to the conflict that’s roiled global markets. Now in its fourth month, the war has disrupted energy flows via the Strait of Hormuz, driven oil prices higher and raised concerns about global inflation, making central banks more likely to keep interest rates steady or raise them — a headwind for precious metals. Read More: Iran, Israel Pledge to End Attacks That Threatened Talks Bullion fell sharply in the early days of the conflict and remains about 18% below its immediate pre-war level, having erased its year-to-date gains on Friday after a strong US jobs report fueled bets that the Federal Reserve will hike rates this year. “Longer term, we maintain a bullish gold view, but we believe it is extremely high-risk in the near term for anyone without very wide stops and longer-term investment horizons,” analysts from Citigroup Inc. including Kenny Hu said in a note, maintaining their six- to 12-month price target for bullion at $5,000 an ounce. Spot gold edged down 0.1% to $4,326.23 an ounce at 7:06 a.m. in Singapore. Silver slid 0.1% to $68.12 an ounce. Platinum and palladium were little changed. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index , a gauge of the US currency, was flat.

( AAPL ) was in Q2 (check it here ), and it was an analysis somewhat focused on the transition from CEO Tim Cook to John Ternus. Here is an excerpt from the previous analysis that summarizes my opinion at the time: “From here on, I don’t think Apple will become less efficient in supply chain or anything like that, but I think the product side can be more “innovative,” let’s put it that way. And this is already happening again. The MacBook Neo (which also had participation from Ternus) is already a success. There are also already some rumors that the MacBook Ultra should come out between the end of 2026 and the start of 2027. Besides that, we also have the iPhone Air, prospects for the foldable iPhone, not to mention that the “core” cycle with iPhone 17 is very strong.” Now, WWDC 26 brought some very interesting developments. Very important enhancements (in my view, crucial) to Apple Intelligence and Siri, making it even clearer what this John Ternus’ Apple will be like. Although I still have some resistance to Apple’s valuation, I am even more optimistic about the company’s future at the moment. Some Underrated Announcements From WWDC The more “boring” side of WWDC was some updates announced regarding design and performance. Some changes to the liquid glass design, as well as some promises of performance improvements in several aspects across various operating systems. For instance, it was mentioned that in the new OS, some apps will launch up to ~30% faster, in addition to performance improvements in AirDrop, Camera Roll (which may improve by up to 70% ), and so on. As I mentioned, these announcements are more boring than innovation. Okay, maybe my WhatsApp or my Instagram will open slightly faster, but at least on my device, it already opens fast enough that it doesn’t bother me. I would never say that what the iPhone really needs is a faster camera roll. But although this is not exc...

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins, center, poses for a photo with Oklahoma Agriculture Secretary Blayne Arthur, left, and Texas Agriculture Secretary Sid Miller, right, following a press conference discussing measures dealing with the New World screwworm at the Texas Capitol, Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Rodolfo Gonzalez | AP Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on Monday called Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller "unserious" after he criticized the USDA 's response to the growing threat from the flesh-eating New World Screwworm . Miller, who lost the March Republican primary in a bid for a fourth term despite winning President Donald Trump 's endorsement, has repeatedly slammed the USDA's response after the parasitic pest was detected in Texas last week. He has argued that the federal department acted too slowly to contain the pest and ignored a response mechanism that he has pushed. At a Monday news conference in Texas on the USDA's response, Rollins was asked about Miller's recent assertion that ranchers would not report a case on their farms over fear that the government would impose a quarantine. "That is a very unserious comment, from perhaps an unserious ag commissioner with just a few months left," she said of Miller. "It is also a very dangerous suggestion." The rift between Rollins and Miller effectively pits the top agricultural leaders in the country and in the state currently affected by the outbreak against each other. And it comes as the Trump administration races to contain the screwworm, which threatens to thin out an already weak cattle herd and further raise beef prices . Rollins, also a Texan, slammed Miller in an appearance on CNBC's " Squawk Box " earlier Monday. "It's very unfortunate what the Texas ag commissioner has been saying, I've known him for a long time," Rollins said. "He lost his primary as the incumbent a few months ago, and has had lots of crazy ideas for a long time." Underscoring the spat is that ...

Eyewitness Testimony Undercuts Self-Defense Claim In Austin Metcalf Killing Via American Greatness, Testimony from multiple eyewitnesses cast doubt on Karmelo Anthony’s claim that he acted in self-defense when he fatally stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet. Several student witnesses described a confrontation in which Anthony, 19, allegedly refused repeated requests to leave a tent occupied by students from Frisco Memorial High School before the encounter turned deadly. One 17-year-old student-athlete testified that Anthony did not appear to be acting in self-defense. According to the witness, Anthony kept his hands inside his backpack until Metcalf shoved him, at which point he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the teen in the chest. “That’s lethal force against non-lethal,” the witness told the court. The testimony directly challenged a central argument advanced by Anthony’s defense team. Anthony has claimed that Metcalf and his brother, Hunter, confronted him together, forcing him to use the knife to protect himself. However, the 17-year-old witness testified that he never observed the brothers ganging up on Anthony. Other witnesses described an escalating confrontation after Anthony entered the Frisco Memorial team tent. According to testimony, students repeatedly asked Anthony to leave, with one witness estimating that the requests were made as many as 15 times. A 15-year-old witness told the court that Anthony “tried to provoke us” after being asked to leave. The witness later stated, “He committed murder.” A 16-year-old student recounted that Anthony sat down inside the tent and attempted to start a conversation, allegedly saying, “Crazy weather, huh?” Witnesses testified that members of the Memorial team then asked Anthony to leave. Instead, they said, he became increasingly agitated and refused to go. According to testimony, Anthony responded by saying, “F–k y’all. I’m not going to leave.” Witnesses further alleged that Anthony taunted ...

Ciena (NYSE: CIEN) had a tough Monday on the stock exchange. The company is going to the investor well to borrow a significant amount of capital, and investors expressed their displeasure by trading out of the stock. This left it with a more than 4% decline that trading session. Ciena announced early that morning that it was floating a $2 billion issue of senior convertible notes in a private offering. The company added that it intends to grant the initial purchasers of those notes -- which, if not converted, will mature on Sept. 15, 2031 -- a 13-day option to collectively buy up to an additional $300 million worth of the securities. Artificial intelligence (AI) stocks have led the S&P 500 's gains throughout this bull market. And chip designers, key players in the AI story, have been among the biggest winners. These companies, such as Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) , Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) , and Advanced Micro Devices , power tasks that are crucial for the development of AI and have been among the first to generate significant revenue gains from their AI businesses. But, in recent days, these stocks have stumbled, with Broadcom leading the way after its AI chip sales forecast disappointed investors. In the first five trading days of June, Broadcom lost 13%, while Nvidia and AMD slid 2.8% and 9.6%, respectively, as investors backed away -- at least temporarily -- from these leading AI companies. Now, the question is: Should you buy AI chip stocks on the dip? Words from Nvidia chief Jensen Huang offer an answer that's crystal clear -- and this answer also echoes wisdom from billionaire investor Warren Buffett. Let's check it out. Continue reading

While the Dow fell slightly, the S&P 500 added three tenths of one percent and the Nasdaq climbed about nine tenths. :: Intel Intel shares jumped 11% after news website The Information reported that Alphabet's Google had placed an order to manufacture more than 3 million tensor processing units in 2028. :: Marvell Technology And shares of Marvell Tech rose 9.5% after S&P announced that the company would be added to the S&P 500 index later this month. Also, Iran and Israel said they had halted attacks on each other. This came after an appeal from U.S. President Donald Trump that they immediately "stop shooting." The attacks over 24 hours were the most direct confrontation between Iran and Israel since an April ceasefire in the war. Justin Livengood, senior portfolio manager with Invesco, says he thinks regardless of when there is an end to the conflict in the Middle East, energy prices could stay higher, which could lead the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. “Inflation's been drifting up in general the last six to nine months, not just for oil prices but even for core elements. And that's a concern. I think that concern persists as oil and natural gas prices linger higher. And the longer that persists, the more likely we are to have a Fed feel they need to raise rates late this year. I certainly feel that right now the base case for the Fed is a hike, not a cut, as their next move. And I think with each week and month that this Middle East conflict continues. The odds of that hike get pulled forward.” :: Apple Other stocks on the move included Apple which dropped almost 2% after announcing a Siri revamp at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. :: AWS And shares of Corning gained 5.5% after Amazon announced a multi-year multi-billion-dollar deal to buy the company's optical fiber and cables for its data centers.
