That follows a separate survey last week that showed Pauline Hanson’s party climbed above Labor in a nationwide opinion poll for the first time. Workers are planning to increase strike action at Inpex Corp.’s Ichthys liquefied natural gas plant and filed a complaint about the company’s operations with Australia’s offshore energy regulator. Union members endorsed eight-hour work stoppages and a plan to implement work bans later this week, according to Offshore Alliance, after downing tools for four hours a day at the company’s facilities last week. Air New Zealand is reducing more flights in the face of rising jet fuel costs and softening demand. This ratio has only been this high one other time in history: just before the tech bubble burst in 1999. In fact, if you want to look at the only other time this number has even been above 30 (prior to this past decade), you'd have to go back to 1929, right before the Great Depression. That's not exactly good company to be in. Studies have also shown that investing when valuations are higher tends to produce lower forward-looking returns and vice versa. For the period, its net sales were slightly over $212 million, up nearly 10% year over year. More impressively, the automotive components company flipped to a net profit under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); this was $9.7 million, or $0.42 per share, against the year-ago loss of $722,000.
