Michael H/DigitalVision via Getty Images My positive outlook for Endeavour Mining ( EDVMF ) stems from a straightforward but underappreciated idea. This is not merely a levered position in gold prices; Endeavour is becoming a self-sustaining, West African gold platform utilizing the strength of current gold prices to restore the balance sheet, return value to shareholders, and support the development of the next cornerstone mine in a low-cost manner – all while avoiding the use of dilutive equity or transformative M&A. First, Endeavour is producing significant amounts of free cash flow from the established portfolio. Second, Endeavour is developing Assafou, which will potentially enhance the company's cost structure and extend mine life during the latter portion of this decade. With Endeavour having net cash, establishing a formal shareholder return program, and a discovery pipeline throughout the Birimian Greenstone Belt, I believe that Endeavour should be valued as a disciplined senior gold producer with a high-return organic growth engine, not as a politically discounted African issuer. Q1 Cash Surge In the first quarter of 2026, the operating leverage built into Endeavour's portfolio was demonstrated. In terms of actual production, Endeavour produced 282,000 ounces of gold in Q1 at an all-in sustaining cost (AISC) of $1,834/oz. At the same time, the average realized price for gold increased to $4,810/oz. While production decreased sequentially from the previous quarter, the cash conversion was very strong: adjusted EBITDA was $880 million, free cash flow was $613 million, and adjusted net earnings were $370 million ($1.53/share). The company also had $405 million of net cash on hand as well as $1.7 billion of total liquidity available to it at the end of the period. endeavourmining.com While the AISC appears high (due in part to higher gold-price-driven royalty costs), it does not tell the complete story. Management stated that the impact of the royalties would ...

House Report Finds Minnesota Officials Ignored Fraud To Avoid Racism Accusations A House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform report released Monday paints a devastating picture of both Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and state Attorney General Keith Ellison , finding that they both knew about widespread fraud in state social services programs and failed to act. The report centers on the Feeding Our Future scandal, in which a Minnesota-based nonprofit systematically exploited federal COVID-19 relief funds intended to provide meals to children. So far, more than 60 people have already been found guilty of fraud in connection with the scheme, the majority of whom are of Somali descent. Some defendants used stolen taxpayer money to buy luxury goods, while others funneled proceeds to a radical Islamic terrorist group operating in Somalia. At least $300 million in federal child nutrition funds were placed at serious risk, and approximately $9 billion in Medicaid losses resulted from the broader fraud environment state officials allowed to fester. "Fraud warnings were elevated to the most senior levels of the Minnesota state government, meaningful corrective action was delayed or avoided, and payments continued long after credible signs of fraud emerged," the report states. Senior officials in Walz's office and Ellison's office knew about systemic fraud concerns as early as 2019 within the Minnesota Department of Human Services and, by April 2020, within the state Department of Education, the report says, directly contradicting Walz's and Ellison's public statements. This matters because both men held legal authority to cut off payments to fraudulent operators. Neither exercised it, even though Walz was aware of the suspected fraud in Feeding Our Future by 2020, and the payments continued. The fraudsters didn't just know how to exploit the system for financial gain; they knew how to blackmail state officials to keep their scheme going. When workers inside the Department o...

Suphanat Khumsap Investors sharply reduced their bets on falling oil prices last week, pulling a record amount of money from a popular exchange-traded fund designed to profit when crude declines, Bloomberg News reported Monday. About $220 million flowed out of the ProShares UltraShort Bloomberg Crude Oil ETF ( SCO ) during the week, marking the largest weekly withdrawal in the fund's history, according to Bloomberg data. The ETF seeks to deliver twice the inverse of the daily performance of its benchmark index. That index gained 2.2% during the period. At the same time, funds positioned to benefit from rising oil prices attracted fresh capital. The United States Oil Fund ( USO ) and the Brent Oil Fund ( BNO ) were among the products that recorded meaningful inflows. The shift in investor positioning comes as several factors that had previously restrained oil prices begin to weaken. Global inventories are shrinking rapidly, while renewed tensions in the Middle East continue to cloud the outlook for supplies. The conflict involving the United States and Iran has disrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping routes, prompting increased interest from retail traders. Despite the record outflow, broader sentiment in oil markets remains cautious. Early predictions that the Middle East conflict could push crude prices toward $200 a barrel haven't materialized. Since Washington and Tehran agreed to a ceasefire in early April, West Texas Intermediate crude futures have fallen roughly 20%. Prices have been pressured by robust U.S. exports, softer demand from China and continued crude shipments moving through the Strait of Hormuz despite disruptions. Bearish positioning remains evident elsewhere in the market. In the week ended June 2, hedge funds and other money managers increased their net short exposure to WTI crude ( CL1:COM ) to the highest level since mid-February, shortly before fighting in the Middle East intensified. Russian satellites have been identified as the cause of mysterious, seconds-long bursts of GPS interference across Europe—a rare example of human-made GPS interference coming from space. But uncertainty still hangs over whether such interference is intentional and if it could be more powerfully weaponized as GPS jamming with continental reach in the future. The discovery came from an investigation detailed in a June 2 preprint paper by Todd Humphreys and his student Zach Clements at The University of Texas at Austin, along with Argyris Krizise at Stanford University in California. By sifting through public data from ground-based stations with global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers, they identified a pattern of high-powered interference lasting less than 10 seconds each time but simultaneously detectable by ground stations across Europe from Norway to Spain to Poland, and even reaching as far west as Greenland and Canada. By analyzing the ground station data from January 2019 to April 2026, the researchers found 75 days with at least one widespread GNSS interference event overlapping with the GPS L1 frequency band centered on 1575.42 megahertz. That represents the main band used for signal transmission by the US-made GPS satellite constellation and GNSS constellations from other countries. Read full article Comments

Just a year before the New York Knicks rode a double-digit winning streak to the NBA Finals, the company that broadcasts its games was thrown a lifeline to avoid a potential bankruptcy filing. Now, the lenders who backed that restructuring are likely cheering on the team’s success. The Knicks’ playoff run is a potential boon for MSG Networks Inc. , part of Sphere Entertainment Co. , the company controlled by team owner James Dolan . The nationally televised Finals won’t give it any direct revenue, but the team’s winning ways could drive cable and streaming subscriptions from a large, die-hard fanbase that hasn’t experienced a championship win in more than 50 years. “While MSG Networks won’t directly benefit from the Knicks lengthy 2026 playoff run, the local network could see ratings benefit next season from the solid playing momentum and team star power,” said Kevin Near , a Bloomberg Intelligence analyst. The company is working to pay off a $210 million loan it agreed to with creditors including Deutsche Bank AG and GoldenTree Asset Management in April last year to restructure a more than $800 million loan it couldn’t repay. The rework also included a $80 million cash payment when the deal closed and up to $100 million of the company’s free cash flow once the loan was repaid. Deutsche Bank declined to comment. Representatives for GoldenTree and MSG Networks didn’t respond to a request for comment. The Knicks are one of the NBA’s most popular teams, and in the heart of the biggest US media market. The first game of the series against the San Antonio Spurs drew almost 17 million viewers last week, the highest tally for Game 1 of the Finals since 2018. MSG Networks also broadcasts games for three NHL teams in the New York City metropolitan area, including the New York Rangers. It reported $35.7 million of adjusted operating income in the three months ended March 31, compared to $22.8 million in the prior year. Revenue was down 2% at $120.4 million as advertising reve...
