Margins were the big story for Spotify this quarter. Spotify (SPOT +15.59%) stock jumped 18% today after another strong quarter. Revenue growth was solid, but user numbers were up, and price hikes didn't seem to hurt momentum. Management said the company's pricing power continues to improve and doesn't expect price hikes in January to hurt the business in the long term. ( GOOG ) in two articles, my last article about Alphabet , which was published on November 13, 2025, took a more cautious stance, and I rated the stock as a “Hold.” In the conclusion of my article, I made it clear that I am torn between the bullish upside potential for Alphabet on the one side and the risk of the AI bubble popping on the other side. I wrote: Right now, it seems to be rather complicated to make a clear statement about Alphabet and provide some sort of guidance for investors. On the one hand, Alphabet is a highly profitable company and well positioned to become one of the AI-leaders and be dominant in a market that might be a trillion-dollar market some day. And despite heavy investments, Alphabet still has a solid balance sheet with limited debt and still huge cash reserves (including short-term investments) and is generating a high free cash flow. Rare “holy grail” footage of David Bowie performing Heroes at Earl’s Court in 1978 is to feature in a new immersive show about the singer’s life and creative practice. Extended footage of the performance has been pieced back together by the team behind the new Lightroom exhibition, who had access to new camera angles found on film reels discovered in the artist’s archives. Mark Grimmer, the show’s producer, who was also behind the landmark V&A show David Bowie Is in 2013, said placing the performance of one of the star’s most loved songs in an immersive space – where it can be seen from multiple angles and perspectives at once – will be transformative. He said: “It’s a holy grail; fans haven’t seen it before. The quality of the material is amazing and he was absolutely at the height of his powers. I previously had downgraded the stock to sell due to labor strikes and labor cost concerns. The labor strike was over rather quickly, but I still believe the downgrade was justified at the time, as we saw that Air Canada underperformed the broader market since that downgrade, offering no risk premium. What does remain is a concern on labor costs, but we note that the stock has climbed 15.4% since my last report, outperforming the S&P 500’s 2.2% gain. In this report, I discuss the earnings expectations for Air Canada in Q4 and discuss some of the risks for Air Canada. Analysts Expect Modest Revenue Growth for Air Canada Seeking Alpha While Air Canada is dealing with a substantial decline in US transborder revenues, analysts still expect Air Canada to book higher revenues. Analysts expect Air Canada to book 2.7% growth in revenues to C$5.55 billion, with estimates ranging from C$5.42 billion to C$6.03 billion. Over the past six months, analysts revised estimates up by 0.8%, while the changes over the past three months and one month are -0.1% and -0.2%. Seeking Alpha Earnings per share are expected to be up roughly 20% to C$0.30, with estimates ranging from C$0.20 to C$0.53. The increase is largely driven by a 13% reduction in the share count and lower fuel costs per gallon. We do note that Air Canada’s track record on revenues and earnings is not a rock-solid one. The company missed estimates on revenues three out of the last 12 quarters and on earnings per share; the company missed expectations six out of the last 12 quarters and reported EPS in line with expectations once and beating five times. These payouts are often 1,300% bigger than regular dividends. Costco Wholesale (COST 2.09%) is serious about rewarding shareholders. Since 2004, the retail giant has raised its dividend by 1,200%, easily outstripping the 75% inflation in that period. It's also spent $12.5 billion in share buybacks since 2000, including $903 million in share repurchases over the last fiscal year. Share buybacks are shareholder-friendly because they boost earnings per share by lowering the share count, helping to push stock prices higher. The company typically announces dividend increases in the spring, so its 22nd payout hike is likely just weeks away. But Costco might have a much bigger treat in store for shareholders. Costco could pay a hefty special dividend this year Since 2013, Costco has paid five special dividends. These payouts are unpredictable, but have two things in common. First, they're huge. In January 2024, Costco paid out a special dividend of $15 per share, which was 1,370% larger than the regular dividend that shareholders also received a month later. Stellantis could sell its stake to a third party, one of the people said. “We continue to have ongoing collaborative discussions with Samsung on the future of our StarPlus Energy JV,” Stellantis said in an emailed statement.
