WWDC showed off demos of its redesigned Siri , which can speak back and forth with the user, a major improvement over previous versions of the assistant. In a demo, Siri was able to check concert dates, set a reminder to buy tickets, and even get directions to pick up a friend on the way to the concert venue. But the announcement also highlighted that Apple has taken a different strategy to many of its Silicon Valley rivals, choosing not to spend billions on infrastructure and the biggest, most advanced models, and instead focusing its message to potential customers on privacy advantages and convenience. Apple executives highlighted the difference in remarks on Monday. "Some appear to be racing forward, seemingly pursuing AI for the sake of AI, without clear regard for the people — all of us — that it's ultimately meant to serve," said Apple software SVP Craig Federighi in the launch announcement. But it turns out two of the traditional AI leaders, Google and Nvidia , are helping Apple out with its most advanced model, called Apple Foundation Model Cloud Pro, Apple executives told media in a talk at its headquarters on Monday. While Apple and Google announced their partnership for Apple Intelligence in January, this is the first time that the company has officially confirmed that some of its Apple Intelligence features will run on Nvidia chips. Sundry Photography/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Salesforce ( CRM ) slipped even as it doubled down on AI-led monetization. The company signed a definitive agreement on Monday to acquire m3ter, a metering and rating platform focused on consumption-based monetization. The deal will bring real-time metering, rating, and billing tools into Salesforce’s Agentforce Revenue Management, helping businesses move from fixed subscriptions to flexible, AI-driven pricing models. The acquisition is expected to close in Q2 FY2027, depending on approvals. “Every company is looking for more flexibility in how they monetize,” said Meredith Schmidt, EVP & GM, Agentforce Revenue Management at Salesforce. She added that m3ter will enable native consumption billing across the whole platform. Despite the move, Salesforce stock closed `~1.68% lower at ~$182.55, extending a 4.67% weekly decline. However, the acquisition could help sentiment stabilize, as investors may re-rate the stock if AI-driven revenue expansion gains traction post-integration. More on Salesforce Salesforce, Inc. Andrew Harnik/Getty Images News President Donald Trump nominated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to fill the role on a permanent basis. Before Pam Bondi was ousted as AG in April, Blanche had been Deputy Attorney General. The nomination sets the stage for a difficult confirmation process. Blanche, who served as one of Trump's personal lawyers before the president chose him for the second-highest post in the Justice Department, drafted the plan to create a $1.8B "anti-weaponization" fund to compensate those who claim they were unfairly victimized by the U.S. government. Later, Blanche said the fund was being scrapped, but, in an interview over the weekend, Trump hinted at resurrecting the plan, saying the fund is "a great idea." That proposed fund triggered significant pushback from several Republican legislators, implying that the GOP's six-vote majority in the Senate may not be wide enough to assure Blanche's confirmation. Some, who are not up for reelection, may be eager to defy Trump. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) told reporters that it's "hard to say" if Blanche will have difficulty getting the votes needed for the confirmation. "This is an environment where nothing is a safe or sure bet," he said, according to Bloomberg reporting . Jordan Siemens/DigitalVision via Getty Images Another quarter of “extremely unfavorable” weather conditions in what has been one of the most challenging winters in the company’s history was reflected in Vail Resorts’ ( MTN ) fiscal third quarter results, driving shares as much as 5% lower in Monday’s after-hours. The disappointing results, which included fewer pass products sold for the upcoming North American ski season and unfavorable weather conditions that persisted through the third quarter, led the company to lower its outlook for the fiscal year. This outlook assumes normal weather conditions throughout the Australian ski season and North American summer season and predictable foreign exchange rates. The ski resort operator now expects net income to be within a range of $128M to $162M and total reported EBITDA of $739M to $761M. This is lowered from prior guidance of $144M to $190M in net income and total reported EBITDA of $747M to $783M. The company also remains on track to achieve an incremental $45M of efficiencies over the prior year, with $106M in annualized cost efficiencies, representing a $6M increase above the original two-year plan. For the reported quarter, Vail Resorts ( MTN ) generated 6.2% less revenue year-over-year, although it exceeded estimates by $10M. This includes declines in mountain revenue (-6.8%) and total lodging (-9.1%) with some of the steepest declines in ski school and dining revenue. Additionally, total skier visits were down 15.5% from the same quarter last year. While costs were down, income from operations fell 14%, resulting in a profit of $8.81 per share, 16% less than the same quarter last year and $0.15 less than expected.
