My wife and I had an acquaintance in college whom we enjoyed spending time with, but incidentally, we routinely failed to think of them when we were making plans. We didn't have anything against them, and while we were not exceptionally close friends with them, we would spend time with them occasionally. They were someone who just seemed to fall through the cracks within our social circle. When it comes to investing, investors often struggle with this same problem. You see, we have companies we hear about regularly, and we just assume that because everyone is aware of them, they're going to be extremely overvalued or perhaps extremely unattractive as an investment at all. We would assume that because they're so well known, they will be extremely crowded companies, and the value is just not going to be there to be attractive. However, I have found that there are some companies that simply slip through the cracks of investors' minds because of those reasons, and the value remains attractive even though they're exceptionally well-known. Likely, when it comes to a company's credit rating, you ask yourself what the credit rating is by Moody's or S&P Global. Yet do you invest in those companies that have such a massive, well-known reach, or do you look right past them? ( GILD ) made several headlines by announcing acquisitions as well as collaborations that justify a closer look at the stock. In November 2025, I published my last article about Gilead Sciences and was rather bullish about the stock. In the conclusion I wrote: Although investing is always about probabilities and different scenarios, I am rather bullish about Gilead Sciences. Not only am I bullish about the stock in the long run, but I also see Gilead Sciences as being a reasonably recession-resilient pick (in case of the U.S. economy rather struggling in the next few years). However, this does not rule out the risk of a lower stock price in the next few months and quarters, which is a possibility. Nevertheless, I rather expect Gilead Sciences to break out of its corrective pattern to the upside, and I rather see higher stock prices in the coming months. Since my last article was published, Gilead Sciences increased about 11% in value (even 12.5% when including dividends) and clearly outperformed the S&P 500. The stock even climbed to an all-time high of $157 but corrected again. In the following article, I will look at the recent acquisitions in more detail and explain why I will hold on to my Gilead Sciences shares and still expect about a 10% annual return for the years to come. The sale of the controlling stake in Associated British Ports has attracted initial interest from potential bidders including KKR & Co. as well as BlackRock Inc. ’s Global Infrastructure Partners , according to people familiar with the matter. Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. and Dubai-based port operator DP World Ltd. are also planning to study the asset, the people said, asking not to be identified as the information is private. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Omers Administration Corp. are looking to sell their combined 64% stake in AB Ports, seeking about £10 billion ($13.2 billion) in a deal, the people said. Considerations are ongoing and there’s no guarantee a transaction will take place, the people said. Representatives for Brookfield, CPPIB, GIP, KKR and Omers declined to comment, while DP World didn’t respond to requests for comment. AB Ports is the largest port operator in the UK with 21 facilities in England, Scotland and Wales, handling about 25% of the country’s seaborne trade, its website shows. CPPIB owns a 33.9% stake in AB Ports, while Omers holds 30%, according to the latest financial statement . The rest is held by Singpaore’s GIC Pte, Hermes Infrastructure and Wren House, a direct infrastructure investment arm of the Kuwait Investment Authority.
