SoundHound AI (NASDAQ: SOUN) just lost its CFO, but the bigger story is the balance between rapid growth, heavy cash burn, and a market that still sees major upside. I break down whether this is a scaling business or a warning sign investors shouldn't ignore.

SlavkoSereda/iStock via Getty Images European and Asian refiners are paying record high prices of near $150/bbl for some physical crude oil grades, far exceeding prices in the futures markets, highlighting the tightening supply from the Middle East war due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Competition for supply from Asian and European refiners to replace disrupted Middle East oil flows has helped to drive up the prices of replacement crudes for more immediate delivery, lifting some crudes to records; the outright price of North Sea Forties crude reached an all-time high of $146.09/bbl on Tuesday, with the "p anic" over supplies driving physical prices higher, Reuters reported. The price of Forties and many other cargoes are linked to the dated Brent physical crude benchmark, which is trading nearly $20/bbl higher than the price of Brent futures for June delivery because it reflects the price of cargoes for immediate delivery. "The market is scrambling for prompt, refinery-usable barrels, and stress is appearing first in the part of the benchmark that is closest to the immediate physical problem," Morgan Stanley analysts said in a report. "It does not mean the futures market is broken. It just means that different parts of the complex are pricing different combinations of immediacy, tightness and expected persistence," the report added. Prices of refined products in Europe are near record highs, according to Reuters, with jet fuel prices at $226.40/bbl and diesel prices at $203.59/bbl, though still below record highs from 2022. In this article HOOD Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNT watch now VIDEO 3:54 03:54 Robinhood CEO on powering Trump accounts: Giving every child real ownership will change the world Squawk on the Street Robinhood's new partnership with the U.S. Treasury Department on children's so-called Trump Accounts is going to drive exposure to the company among emerging investors, benefiting its future growth, according to Vlad Tenev. On Monday, the Treasury said it has selected Robinhood alongside BNY Mellon to help power Trump accounts – tax-deferred, custodial-style investment accounts for children set to launch this summer with a $1,000 seed contribution from the government for kids born between 2025 and 2028 — and build the app linked to it. Tenev, the CEO of the investing app, called it an evolution of the American Dream and a key part of the company's own mission to "democratize finance for all," speaking to CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" Tuesday. "This puts Robinhood in front of the next generation … this is literally going to be the first investment account for millions of people," he said. He added that in the near-term, the company is more focused on its government partnership rather than monetizing the account, which will be fee- and commission-free for customers. "These are intended to be the absolute lowest cost vehicles and ways to get customers invested," he said. However, "there may be, in the future, management fees through ETFs that are deployed in these accounts … those will be very small in terms of how we're monetizing. The way it works is we're actually acting as a subcontractor to BNY and so we have essentially a government subcontracting agreement." Robinhood will act as a broker and trustee in partnership with BNY, designing the app and providing the front end and customer support, Tenev said. "This is our first experience really working with the government in in this way," he added. "Our aspiration is to make this the best product the gover...

Dividend stocks may not be hot conversation topics at cocktail parties, especially when compared to trendy names in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) or AI Stocks like NVIDIA ( NVDA ). However, investors who ignore dividends do so at their own peril as those income streams have a cumulative effect that materially adds to total returns. This brings me to Essential Properties Realty Trust ( EPRT ), which I last covered a while back in February 2024, highlighting its quality properties and positioning in the underserved middle market. Since then, EPRT has delivered an impressive 37% total return, far surpassing the 29% rise in the S&P 500 ( SPY ) over the same timeframe, as shown below. Seeking Alpha At the current price of $30.85, EPRT trades well below its 52-week high of $34.73, particularly after the recent dip in price. It also comes with a reasonable forward P/FFO of 14.2 and a 4.0% dividend yield, as shown below. EPRT Stock 1-Yr Trend (Seeking Alpha) In this article, I revisit EPRT including recent business results , and discuss why the recent dip creates a great buying opportunity on this growth REIT, so let's get started! Why EPRT? Essential Properties Realty Trust is a net lease REIT focused on single-tenant, service-oriented properties across the U.S. It primarily partners with middle-market operators through sale-leaseback transactions, providing capital while securing long-term, triple-net leases. This niche positioning has allowed EPRT to carve out a differentiated role as a capital provider rather than a traditional landlord. This means that EPRT emphasizes granular deal sourcing and relationship-driven origination with local businesses. This, combined with its smaller size, has translated into an outsized total return of 222% compared to net lease peers Realty Income ( O ), NNN REIT ( NNN ), W. P. Carey ( WP...

Actor and versatile television director who helped shape the influential BBC production of House of Cards The television drama director Paul Seed, who has died aged 78 of cancer, helped shape some of the most influential British series of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, including the BBC political thriller House of Cards (1990). His career was defined by intelligence, emotional precision and a rare instinct for performance. He began his professional life as an actor but transitioned to directing after completing the BBC directors’ course in the late 1970s. Not long afterwards, he was offered his first television drama, Too Late to Talk to Billy, by Graham Reid, for the BBC’s creatively daring drama slot Play for Today. The film, screened in 1982, also marked Kenneth Branagh’s first appearance on television. Continue reading...
