NikolayN/iStock via Getty Images This might be both my favorite stock screen and my favorite way to use Seeking Alpha's equity data and quant factor grades. I am a self-proclaimed Dow Industrials fan. But even I will admit that while that diverse set of 30 stocks is a great diversified shopping list for large-cap equity names, the Dow is not "the market" like it used to be. And frankly, neither is the S&P 500. Not when most of the stocks in it don't move the needle on index performance. Here are SPY's top 10 holdings. A third of the weighting is technology, no surprise. But the 10 biggest stocks make up 36% of the index. SA How skewed is it at the top? The next 10 (the 11th to 20th largest S&P 500 components) only add another 10% to the total, bringing the top 20 right around half the total index. The other 50% of the S&P 500? 450 stocks! So this is not a market of stocks; it's a stock market that is driven by perhaps 2 dozen names. And while it's great to see some recent broadening beyond those behemoths, it is similar to the evolution of US government debt: it took so long to get here, it won't just go back in the bottle like the proverbial genie. For those who say, "But it's always been this way," check this out. As it turns out, a more "normal" level is around 30-35% historically. Finhacker.cz Either way, my point is that if you are trying to figure out what the market is doing, you had better know what's happening with the top 20. So let's do that. What the 20 Biggest S&P 500 Stocks Look Like Right Now This is a screen I maintain for quick retrieval. The iShares Top 20 US Stocks ETF ( TOPT ) tracks them. However, that's an ETF that has periodic rebalance dates, so it won't always be current with the top 20. For instance, since the last time I pulled this up myself, Netflix ( NFLX ) and AbbVie ( ABBV ) are out of the top 20, and Micron ( MU ) and Bank of America ( BAC ) are in. That's not some committee decision, just a run of most recent market caps (2/9/26 mar...

aprott/iStock via Getty Images Wow, I have to be honest here. I seldom hear CEOs lamenting about their stock price volatility in an earnings call conference through their prepared remarks, as I think the purpose of these conferences is mainly to focus on the overall business performance. So it kind of surprised me that AppLovin Corporation ( APP ) CEO Adam Foroughi decided to address investors and analysts on what we thought about the stock price volatility in yesterday’s (February 11) earnings conference when AppLovin reported for Q4 of 2025 : I want to start by addressing what's clearly on many people's minds. While I prefer to ignore short-term fluctuations in the stock price and focus on maximizing value over the long term, the recent volatility warrants addressing. For the past few weeks, there's been a lot of discussion about how AI and competition will challenge our business. But when I look at our internal dashboards, we are delivering the strongest operating performance in our history. What's fueling that growth is our own AI models. And as research and AI, both internal and external, continues to improve, our business will grow with it. There is a real disconnect between market sentiment and the reality of our business. - AppLovin Q4 2025 earnings call. Okay, so here's the context. We are definitely not in "normal times." So, I guess there's an argument in favor of some sort of "intervention" to help calm the market sentiments amid the software Armageddon, the forest fire, and the apocalypse. These are the narratives that have been going on and on in the financial media, which I guess I don't have to remind you. So unless you are in the bearish camp on "AI eating software," and think that these companies are facing imminent extinction, then you will probably not think whatever I'm going to say is just a waste of time. And for me (or software investors in general), relishing such a rare opportunity to finally have the chance to double down on high-growth so...

The VR industry has been on edge since Meta's massive job cuts earlier this year: One exec called the layoff announcements "one of VR's darkest weeks." When an AI agent visits a website, it’s essentially a tourist who doesn’t speak the local language. Whether built on LangChain, Claude Code, or the increasingly popular OpenClaw framework, the agent is reduced to guessing which buttons to press: scraping raw HTML, firing off screenshots to multimodal models, and burning through thousands of tokens just to figure out where a search bar is. That era may be ending. Earlier this week, the Google Chrome team launched WebMCP — Web Model Context Protocol — as an early preview in Chrome 146 Canary. WebMCP, which was developed jointly by engineers at Google and Microsoft and incubated through the W3C's Web Machine Learning community group , is a proposed web standard that lets any website expose structured, callable tools directly to AI agents through a new browser API: navigator.modelContext. The implications for enterprise IT are significant. Instead of building and maintaining separate back-end MCP servers in Python or Node.js to connect their web applications to AI platforms, development teams can now wrap their existing client-side JavaScript logic into agent-readable tools — without re-architecting a single page. AI agents are expensive, fragile tourists on the web The cost and reliability issues with current approaches to web-agent (browser agents) interaction are well understood by anyone who has deployed them at scale. The two dominant methods — visual screen-scraping and DOM parsing — both suffer from fundamental inefficiencies that directly affect enterprise budgets. With screenshot-based approaches, agents pass images into multimodal models (like Claude and Gemini) and hope the model can identify not only what is on the screen, but where buttons, form fields, and interactive elements are located. Each image consumes thousands of tokens and can have a long latency. With DOM-based approaches, agents ingest raw HTML and JavaScript — a foreign language full of various tags, CSS rules, and structural markup that is ir...

tbradford/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images Lenovo's ( LNVGY )( LNVGF ) third-quarter revenue climbed 18% year over year to reach a new, all-time high as the company reported significant growth in artificial intelligence-related demand and growing market share in PC and smart devices. Revenue for the quarter ended December 31 totaled $22.2B, which was much more than the consensus estimate of $20.6B. Lenovo reported that its PC market share reached 25.2% in the third quarter, which is the only time any company has surpassed 25% global PC market share. "We expanded our global PC market share to 25.3%, up 1 percentage point year-on-year, extending our lead over our closest competitor by 5 percentage points and marking our second consecutive quarter as the only vendor to surpass 25% global PC market share since IDC data became available," said Lenovo Chief Financial Officer Shao-Min Cheng. The company's primary competitors in the PC market include Dell ( DELL ), HP ( HPQ ) and Apple ( AAPL ). Lenovo's infrastructure solutions group segment increased revenue by 31% year over year to $5.2B. The growth was fueled by its AI server business, which had a $15.5B pipeline exiting the quarter. Lenovo also recently launched AI inferencing servers and the Lenovo AI Cloud Gigafactory with Nvidia ( NVDA ). "Just as I shared last quarter, the infrastructure market is undergoing an important shift from AI training on public cloud to AI inferencing, increasingly happening on-prem and at the edge for enterprises," said Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing during the earnings call . "To better capture this trend, we carried out a strategic restructuring. This initiative is designed to boost the productivity by optimizing our cost structure, address market opportunities by refining our product portfolio, and enhance competitiveness by optimizing our business models and upgrading our sales force." Yuanqing also discussed the ongoing memory supply shortage and staggering price increases. "The DRAM cos...
