The stock’s move reflects Neurocrine Biosciences’ (NASDAQ:NBIX) $53-per-share all-cash acquisition offer for Soleno. Investors are watching for any deal-related regulatory or closing risks. Trading volume reached 58 million shares, coming in about 2,148% above its three-month average of 2.6 million shares. Soleno Therapeutics IPO'd in 2014 and has fallen 96% since going public. 400tmax/iStock Unreleased via Getty Images If we were to look back to 2023-2025, one thing seemed certain at that time: investors had written off Alphabet Inc. ( GOOG , GOOGL ) as an AI laggard without a clear path to compete with back-then leading AI firms like OpenAI ( OPENAI ), Microsoft ( MSFT ), and Meta Platforms ( META ). Back then, Alphabet's shares traded at ≈20x P/E as analysts lacked conviction in innovation and AI strategy, which could hinder its future EPS growth. The tide has shifted, very quickly. Today, Alphabet (or Google, if you wish) is seen as an AI innovator and leader/winner. Its shares within the span of the last 12 months are up 100%, and while on a year-to-date basis the stock is down -6%, it's performing better than most of its peers, weighed down by the general market sentiment and fears of higher interest rates. The top beneficiary of AI integration in Alphabet's business is clearly Google Cloud. It now makes up 16% of the company's revenue and continues to grow at an aggressive pace. The launch of Gemini 3 was a huge success as well, stealing market share from the previous market leader, ChatGPT. Have you recently used Google Search? You've likely noticed Google's AI Overviews popping up on top, which provide quick access to information you are seeking. This functionality increased Google's number of search queries and increased the ad price per query. Alphabet's business isn't dead by any means and continues to thrive despite the hefty AI infrastructure spending. I continue to call it "a top pick" as I've done in 2024, 2025, and 2026. Data by YCharts Last Coverage In December, I wrote an article titled : Alphabet Isn't Dead, It's Our Top 2026 Pick. The stock hasn't delivered positive returns since the publishing of this piece, but that hasn't derailed my conviction. I've been accumulating Alphabet's shares for the past few years, and the strong price growth in 2025 finally proved us right. In the last coverage, I've looked into Google's...

Arkadiusz Warguła/iStock via Getty Images I've been a shareholder of Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S. A. B. de C. V. (NYSE: ASR ) for many years now. It, along with the other publicly traded Latin American airport operators, is one of my largest individual holdings. I updated my thoughts on Sureste in January, arguing that the firm's most recent M&A deal was going to be a catalyst that could help cause shares to see multiple expansion. ASR stock did, in fact, go on to mark new all-time highs in February, but there was a significant correction shortly thereafter. Data by YCharts However, the stock has seemingly stabilized, and the long-term uptrend seems firmly intact. That, even as the overall equity market has started to slip, we're seeing worries in the aviation sector due to the surge in oil prices. So, what's the outlook for Sureste Airports given recent developments? Some New Risk Factors Emerge The first new concern for Sureste Airports, since my prior update, was the appearance of high-profile cartel-related violence in Mexico. In February, the Mexican government completed a military operation to take out a top cartel leader. The cartel retaliated with numerous acts, including burning vehicles, killing police officers, and blockading highways. This led to near-term flight cancellations and negative headlines around Mexican travel in February. Mexican airport shares were sold off in the days following these incidents. However, the Mexican government quickly controlled the situation, and the cartel stopped disrupting the travel sector within a matter of days. It's my view that this will not have significant lasting implications for Mexican travel volumes. I've covered this more extensively in a recent article on Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico ( PAC ), who is the operator of the Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta airports, which were most impacted by the recent disruptions. In any case, Sureste, which doesn't operate any airports near where the events occurred...

Al Drago | Reuters The Trump administration on Monday finalized a 2027 payment rate increase to privately run Medicare plans that was far bigger than initially proposed, a boost to health insurer stocks. The government will increase average Medicare Advantage payments by 2.48%, or more than $13 billion, in 2027, according to a release from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Trump administration in January proposed a payment rate hike of 0.09% , which pummeled shares of insurers that run those plans. Shares of UnitedHealth and CVS Health rose more than 9% in after-hours trading on Monday. Meanwhile, Humana 's stock jumped around 12%. "Medicare Advantage and Part D should work for the people who rely on them," said CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz in a release. "These updates keep coverage affordable and ensure patients get real value from their plans." The closely watched government payment rate determines how much insurers can charge for monthly premiums and plan benefits they offer and, ultimately, their profits. Medicare Advantage is a privately run health insurance plan contracted by Medicare. More than half of Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in such plans, enticed by lower monthly premiums and extra benefits not covered by traditional Medicare, according to health policy research firm KFF. The geopolitical conflict in the Middle East has disrupted global energy markets. As a result, oil prices have moved sharply higher. Some may have been hoping for information that would calm tensions when President Trump addressed the people of the United States at the start of April. However, little new information was provided, and oil prices rose the next day. Before you buy an energy stock today, or any day, you need to understand three basic facts about the sector. When you step back and look at the long-term picture, the current volatility in the energy sector isn't unusual. Oil and natural gas are commodities sensitive to supply and-demand dynamics. The balance is easily disrupted by factors such as geopolitical conflicts, natural disasters, and economic swings. Dramatic, often swift, price moves higher and lower are fairly common and should be seen as a normal aspect of the industry. Right now, news flow and emotions are the two key forces moving the energy sector. Image source: Getty Images. Continue reading

Canadian Jeremy Hansen is one of four astronauts on their way to being the nearest any human has gotten to the moon in more than 50 years. Bloomberg’s Loren Grush has turned out comprehensive coverage of the Artemis II mission, detailing its multibillion-dollar cost , historic nature and even its toilet troubles. Just before 2 p.m. Toronto time today, the crew surpassed the Apollo 13 distance record set in 1970 — meaning they’ve traveled farther from Earth than anyone else. About 45 minutes later, the Lockheed Martin-built Orion capsule oriented its windows toward the moon, allowing the crew to begin photographing the far side of the lunar surface and features never before seen by humans. Early in the official flyby period, mission specialist Christina Koch said the crew marveled at seeing both the moon and Earth at the same time. “We will continue our journey even further into space before Mother Earth succeeds in pulling us back to everything that we hold dear,” Hansen said as the crew broke the record. “But we most importantly choose this moment to challenge this generation and the next to make sure this record is not long lived.” Artemis II is set to make its closest approach to the moon around 7 p.m., reaching its farthest distance from Earth minutes later. Things have gone fairly smoothly so far, aside from issues with the toilet . The commode’s system for pumping wastewater into space wasn’t working well, precluding urination (although bowel movements were still permitted). After some wrangling, NASA gave crew members the “go” late on Saturday for “all types of uses of the toilet.” The space agency has long-term plans to set up a base on the moon where astronauts can live and work.
