It wasn't that I had too many bad things to say about the company; it was just that valuation got completely detached from the business prospects. After a 45% drop from the top, Spotify shares went through a complete reset. And, even though shares have surged following the recently announced Q4, I argue that there's still a lot of upside left. Therefore, I'm finally upgrading Spotify to a "Buy." Spotify is Running Away With the Audio Market The biggest knock on Spotify over the years was that it isn't that much different from the likes of Apple Music ( AAPL ), Amazon Music ( AMZN ), or YouTube Music ( GOOG ). In other words, investors viewed Spotify as a narrow-moat business that's competing with arguably the strongest companies in the world. Well, all that may be true on paper. They've added 76 million users through the year and now account for about 3.5% of the world population.
