Critique, which can be accessed with Microsoft's Copilot assistant, allows users to bring multiple AI models together to generate optimal responses and reports, Microsoft said in a release . “One model leads the generation phase, planning the task, iterating through retrieval, and producing an initial draft, while a second model focuses on review and refinement, acting as an expert reviewer before the final report is produced,” Microsoft explained. “Our evaluations show that this architecture exceeds traditional single model approaches and delivers best in class deep research quality. This design provides clear optionality across generator and reviewer roles, with the ability to support and expand these roles over time as the system evolves.” CEO Satya Nadella hyped up the release on social network X, stating that benchmarks show Critique “delivers best-in-class deep research,” when compared to other deep research models from OpenAI ( OPENAI ), Google ( GOOG ) ( GOOGL ), and Perplexity. Nicole Herskowitz, corporate vice president of Microsoft 365 and Copilot, told Reuters that the multi-modal approach will help users with their workflow and limit AI hallucinations, which she said should boost productivity and quality. The first full month of the war saw roughly six vessels per day on average traversing the critical waterway in either direction, compared with ~135/day in normal times, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, adding that 80% of the small number of oil tankers exiting the strait have belonged to Iran or countries with which it is on cordial terms. Nearly all vessels making the crossing are now using Iran-approved routes—sailing close to its shores and not to the Omani side of the strait—and often after talks to seek safe passage; Malaysia and Thailand recently reported deals to free tankers trapped in the Persian Gulf. Iran exported ~1.8M bbl/day this month, nearly 8% above its average over 2025, according to figures from the Kpler data intelligence firm Kpler as of March 26, which likely facilitated hundreds of millions of dollars of oil revenue for Iran. In contrast, exports over the same month from Iraq plunged more than 80% compared to 2025 levels, while Saudi Arabia was more than 25% below last year’s average, even with the help of a pipeline carrying its oil to the Red Sea. The impact of Iran’s control is visible in oil markets, with Brent up ~60% this month, and is translating into diplomatic clout, with oil-importing countries such as India , Turkey, Pakistan, and Thailand seeking Iran's approval to get ships through.
