I noticed the dividend yield starting to approach 7%, and it prompted a deeper dive into what's going on with shares, especially for what's normally a largely stable business. I believe the business is trading at an attractive price and offers a positive forward outlook as we get into fiscal 2027. Good Deal, Bad Volume Amcor is a producer of consumer packaging and dispensing solutions across a variety of verticals, including nutrition, health, beauty, and wellness. The company's operations span nearly 400 locations in more than 40 countries. The types of packaging they make range from flexible packaging to rigid packaging to cartons and closures. The company has two operating segments: Global Flexible Packaging Solutions, Global Rigid Packaging Solutions. From a mix perspective, Flexible is the larger of the two at 72% of sales, while Rigid accounts for 28%. From a geographic perspective, approximately 47.9% of sales come from North America, 28.8% come from Europe, 11.9% come from Latin America, and 11.4% come from Asia Pacific. For those wondering what the difference is between the two types of packaging, the difference is simple. Flexible packaging bends, folds, wraps, or changes shape. This includes things like food pouches, snack bags, sachets, wraps, and laminates. Rigid packaging is any packaging that holds its shape. This ranges from things like jars and containers to caps, plastic bottles, closures, and tubs. As a result of being a major consumer packaging producer, they are subject to a wide variety of commodity inputs as their primary costs. These range from polymer resins and films to paper, inks, solvents, adhesives, and other more common inputs like energy costs, freight, and labor costs. Many of these are crude oil derivatives, and with the current geopolitical situation, PPIs for things like plastics and resins are going up, seen below. Rising input costs tend t...
