Welcome to Edition 8.35 of the Rocket Report! The headlines this week are again dominated by the big changes afoot in NASA's exploration program, with the announcement of a Moon base and a nuclear-powered rocket to Mars. The shakeups come as the agency is just a week away from launching Artemis II, a circumlunar flight carrying a crew of four around the Moon. The Ars space team will be writing extensively about this mission in the days ahead, and we may skip the Rocket Report next week to focus on our Artemis II coverage. As always, we welcome reader submissions . If you don't want to miss an issue, please subscribe using the box below (the form will not appear on AMP-enabled versions of the site). Each report will include information on small-, medium-, and heavy-lift rockets, as well as a quick look ahead at the next three launches on the calendar. NASA announces nuclear rocket demo. NASA's announcement Tuesday that it will "pause" work on a lunar space station and focus on building a surface base on the Moon was no big surprise to anyone paying attention to the Trump administration’s space policy. But what should NASA do with hardware already built for the Gateway outpost? NASA spent close to $4.5 billion on developing a human-tended complex in orbit around the Moon since the Gateway program’s official start in 2019. There are pieces of the station undergoing construction and testing in factories scattered around the world. The centerpiece of Gateway, called the Power and Propulsion Element, is closest to being ready for launch. NASA’s rejigged exploration roadmap, revealed Tuesday in an all-day event at NASA headquarters in Washington, calls for repurposing the core module for a nuclear-electric propulsion demonstration in deep space, Ars reports . The technology industries can be significantly affected by obsolescence of existing technology, short product cycles, falling prices and profits, competition from new market entrants, and general economic conditions. Foreign securities are subject to interest rate, currency exchange rate, economic, and political risks. The fund may have additional volatility because of its narrow concentration in a specific industry. Non-diversified funds that focus on a relatively small number of stocks tend to be more volatile than diversified funds and the market as a whole. Investment Approach Fidelity® Select Technology Portfolio ( FSPTX ) is a sector-based, equity-focused strategy that seeks to outperform its benchmark through active management. We believe the value of technology stocks is in large part determined by the companies' future potential to generate earnings and cash flow. Our investment framework also focuses on identifying themes that impact the largest end markets, determining potential winners/losers, and how certain companies that are technology disruptors can impact incumbents. The technology sector is a very specialized part of the market, and our experience allows for proficiency in specific domains, aiding in recognizing investment opportunities when they arise. Through bottom-up research and by leveraging Fidelity's vast expertise – in addition to insights from industry experts, technologists, suppliers and competitors – we develop a differentiated view on the fundamentals in seeking to identify companies with compelling risk/reward profiles. wavemovies Wix.com ( WIX ) was downgraded to Underweight from Neutral at J.P. Morgan, as the investment firm said it has concerns about its core business. Shares fell 1% in premarket trading. “While we like that the company is leaning further towards investment-led vibe-coding differentiation, our conviction to the investment case has diminished on signs of core business revenue growth deceleration,” analyst Alexei Gogolev wrote in a note to clients. “We think that margin improvement will be slower and more volatile than investors anticipate. Longer-term, we view the website and e-commerce management space facing structurally more technology-driven competition compared to other parts of our coverage.” In addition to the downgrade, Gogolev lowered his price target on Wix to $91 from $114. Delving deeper, Gogolev said that Wix appears to be “increasingly dependent” on its Base44 unit, which lets customers build artificial intelligence-powered apps in short order. And while the growth has been impressive (annual recurring revenue went from a few million dollars in the middle of 2025 to above $100M as of March), the company's core Creative Subscriptions business (excluding Base44) is likely to slow down to roughly 6% growth this year, down from about 10% in 2025. Gogolev also noted that sales and marketing expenses are likely to increase, and the fact that roughly one-third of Base44's inference costs are attributed to free users. The company is also likely to face a higher cost base, partly because part of its expenses are in the Israeli shekel, which has appreciated compared to the U.S. dollar. Bonjour et Bienvenue to the Paris Edition. I’m Bloomberg Opinion columnist Lionel Laurent . If you haven’t yet, subscribe now to the Paris Edition newsletter . No Winners This week’s French local elections were largely a sideshow next to the war in Iran, which threatens to push up inflation and hurt growth in Europe’s No. 2 economy. But they did offer an important test of the national mood a little over a year away from presidential elections that will have a large influence on the future direction of the continent. While the scattered nature of the results means no party can convincingly say it “won,” there are small signs of hope for the political center in its uphill struggle to beat the extremes. The most surprising outcome is maybe that there were very few surprises. The momentum going into the election appeared to belong to Marine Le Pen’s National Rally, provoking a lot of speculation that the far right might win a big prize such as a major city. But in the end even Le Pen had to admit she was “disappointed” by the results, with the party falling short in its bid to take control of Marseille, Toulon and Nimes. While there was an increase in the overall number of municipalities won, there wasn’t a breakthrough. While the result may yet change in a national election, it does seem that voters are wavering when it comes to handing more power to Le Pen and No. 2 Jordan Bardella. One reason might be the proximity of European populist parties to the Trump administration, which has thrown its support behind conservative euroskeptics including the National Rally leader. After months of US threats over Greenland, saber-rattling over trade and now a war in the Middle East, voters may be less convinced in the merits of MAGA’s authoritarian mode and its rejection of European integration. As for Jean-Luc Melenchon’s far left, despite still proving popular in the inner-city-esque suburbs like Seine Saint-Denis, it failed to clinch any big cities; its total vote share after ...
