Spencer Platt | Getty Images Futures linked to the S&P 500 traded rose Monday night after U.S. equities posted a strong start to the new trading month. S&P 500 futures added 0.3%, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained nearly 0.6%. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 31 points, or less than 0.1%. Shares of Palantir Technologies jumped about 6% in extended trading after the defense tech company gave strong fourth-quarter financial results and upbeat guidance. Robotics play Teradyne surged 20% after posting a solid outlook for the first quarter, calling for revenue that surpassed expectations. Major stock averages rose across the board in the regular session. The 30-stock Dow jumped about 515 points, or 1.05%. The S&P 500 advanced 0.5%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained almost 0.6%. Hot artificial intelligence infrastructure stocks Sandisk , Western Digital and Seagate all ended the session higher. However, Nvidia fell nearly 3% after The Wall Street Journal reported late last week that the chip company's plans to invest in OpenAI have stalled. In cryptocurrencies, bitcoin dropped to its lowest level since April, signaling investors' decreasing appetite for risk. Futures tied to silver and gold also settled lower on Monday. The metals sold off hard on Friday. Investors this week are digesting more than 100 S&P 500 companies reporting earnings results. Advanced Micro Devices and Pfizer are among those expected to post results on Tuesday. "Magnificent Seven" giants Amazon and Alphabet are slated to report later this week. Tech earnings will be in focus as investors look for signs of AI-driven efficiency and profit growth, particularly after the market's unforgiving reaction to Microsoft's results last week. Justin Paget/DigitalVision via Getty Images JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. ( JKS ) is a Chinese company that is also a global leader in solar photovoltaic (PV) in the renewable energy technology space I have been following for a while. JKS is vertically integrated, where it controls the production process across the value chain, from wafer and ingots all the way to cells and finished solar modules. JKS generates revenue through the manufacturing and selling of these solar modules to customers across the utility, commercial, and residential sectors globally. Since its 2010 IPO, the share price has experienced some significant volatility, reaching an all-time high of around $75 per share in 2022 before facing significant industry-wide margin compression. While the stock has lost more than -58% of its value over the past five years, it has seen some rebound in recent times, with the stock being up 22% on a 1-year period. JKS currently trades at $25.6 per share, though it is also down around -8% YTD. I initiate my coverage with a buy rating. My 1-year price target of $29.8 presents a 16% upside from the current price of $25.6 per share. Financial Reviews Overall, JKS has not had a good Q3 in terms of revenue growth, though it continues to maintain its leading status in terms of market share. Q3 revenue was down -34% to $2.27 billion (or RMB 16.2 billion). This was driven by lower average selling prices (ASP) of modules, which plummeted globally as a result of oversupply. Q3 Presentation (Q3 Presentation) JKS also saw losses in Q3, with net loss under US GAAP amounting to -$105.3 million. However, non-GAAP adjusted net loss was -$52.4 million , a much narrower figure as it excludes fair value changes in convertibles and asset impairments. With these losses, JKS has maintained three consecutive quarters of losses, having last seen positive quarterly earnings around Q2 2024. Q3 Presentation (Q3 Presentation) Nonetheless, despite the weak bottom-line performance, gross margin...

Energy is an often overlooked but invaluable sector that can pay very well for your portfolio. From an investor's standpoint, there's nothing flashy about the oil and gas business. Crude oil and natural gas are extracted from the ground, transported via pipelines, and then refined into the energy and products that make modern life possible. The straightforward (maybe even boring?) aspect of this process, as well as the importance of these energy sources, has made the leading companies in this industry fantastic dividend stocks. Investors can enjoy the steady income flowing into their portfolios, delivering peace of mind that helps them sleep well at night. These three energy-related companies may be boring for investors, but you'll want to check them out anyway. 1. Energy Transfer Investing in pipeline stocks is about as dull as it gets, but they are equally reliable for investment income. Energy Transfer (ET 0.90%) is one of the largest midstream companies in the world. It owns several subsidiaries and stakes in other public companies. Energy Transfer operates thousands of miles of pipelines that transport oil and gas resources from production sites to retail, refining, and export hubs. Since the energy sector practically never shuts down, the business generates very steady revenue and profits. As a master limited partnership, it can pay large distributions (dividends), resulting in the stock's 7.3% yield. Owning MLPs requires U.S. investors to fill out a special K-1 tax form, but it's hard to beat the income they can generate. 2. NextEra Energy Renewable energy has grown for decades, ...
