The company has started generating noncore revenue, but is trading with a $45 billion market capitalization. Investors are banking on a complete fleet of satellites to be launched and active by the end of the year. From there, it’s clear that investors will expect the company to begin ramping up serious financial growth. While AST SpaceMobile management has projected a rosy picture, my utilization of unit economics to reconstruct the financial model points to a less-than-ideal outcome. How the Business Works Once the company’s satellite fleet is active, cellular customers will be able to connect to the satellite service to make phone calls, send texts, stream videos, etc. This is especially convenient for customers who live in areas where cell service is difficult or experience connectivity problems during travel. One requirement for consumers to be able to connect is that their mobile network operator (MNO) needs to have an agreement in place with AST for them to connect. As of the third quarter, AST had agreements with MNOs covering 3 billion subscribers . While the details of each agreement are unknown, we know that they are revenue-sharing agreements where the carrier and AST split the proceeds from the customer who buys the service through their carrier. In one specific case, the agreement AST signed with Vodafone called for a 50/50 revenue share . By agreeing to do revenue sharing with the carriers, AST is reducing its need to conduct marketing and relying on the carrier to offer coverage directly to its customers. "We think FDX will guide to +200bps of margin expansion in the Express company at its investor day next week and speak to continuing share gains in the small package market. Bob Iger, who led the media giant for 15 years, stepped down in 2020 – only to abruptly return in 2022 when his handpicked successor, Bob Chapek, was fired as the company came under pressure. D’Amaro has been chairman of the Disney’s experiences since 2020, running its theme parks and cruise ships – effectively the same job as Chapek before his ill-fated stint as CEO of the company. (RTTNews) - Quanterix Corporation (QTRX) on Tuesday said it has submitted a 510(k) premarket notification to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a multi-analyte algorithmic blood test to detect Alzheimer's disease (AD). The test is designed to help determine if patients with memory or thinking problems have amyloid brain plaques, a key sign of Alzheimer's, using a simple blood sample. Quanterix said it provides a more comprehensive assessment of the biological factors of Alzheimer's disease than traditional single-analyte assays. The multi-analyte test had previously received Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA. Quanterix shares rose 2.5% to close at $6.50 on Monday. The lender's Q4 results were largely bolstered by lower-than-expected operating expenses and better net interest income, although there were some pockets of weakness, including disappointing investment banking fees. "Q425 PPNR trends remain solid against a high bar during earnings season, as solid fee trends and NII improvement (NIM/loan growth) outpaced expenses, with credit/capital trends declining modestly but remain healthy," analyst David George wrote in a note. On the valuation front, JPM has lagged regional banking stocks this year -- -4.4% YTD vs. ( KRE ) +8.1% -- making it hard to "make the short case for a best-in-class franchise," George wrote. Trading at around 2.95 times tangible book value, George believes the stock is "still relatively expensive" and "we would not recommend adding shares at current prices but see less upside to maintaining a short position ahead of potential bank deregulation."
