jetcityimage/iStock Editorial via Getty Images Eli Lilly ( LLY ) announced late-stage trial data for Ebglyss, its FDA-approved therapy for atopic dermatitis (eczema), on Friday, indicating that the once-monthly injectable led to a durable treatment response for up to four years. Citing data from its ADlong Phase 3b study for moderate-to-severe AD, the Indiana-based drugmaker stated that Ebglyss-treated patients experienced meaningful skin improvement up to four years as measured by a 75% reduction in Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI-75). Meanwhile, 75% of patients on Ebglyss achieved a 90% reduction in EASI from baseline (EASI-90), indicating almost complete skin clearance, and according to the Pruritus Numeric Rating Scale, 78% experienced significant relief from itch. The IL-13-targeting antibody therapy was approved by countries, including the U.S., in 2024 for adults and children aged 12 years and older with atopic dermatitis whose disease has not adequately responded to topical AD therapies. Lilly ( LLY ) markets Ebglyss with Spanish pharma company Almirall ( LBTSF ) in Europe. Adlong's findings build on three years of data from the company’s ADjoin study earlier this month, which showed that 50% of patients with moderate-to-severe AD achieved EASI 100, complete skin clearance, while 87% achieved EASI-90 after receiving Ebglyss. Ryan Bengford/iStock via Getty Images The conflict with Iran complicates the demand, labor, and inflation outlook, according to the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee's alternate voting member, Thomas Barkin. The president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond was giving his perspective on the U.S. economy at the Appalachian Highlands Economic Forum at East Tennessee State University on Friday, March 27. "A year ago today, I stood before a group like this one and described navigating last year's economy as trying to drive through fog. Major government policy changes — trade, immigration, regulation, and fiscal — were all happening at once. It was hard to see the path ahead," said Barkin. "But I can't stand here a year later and tell you the fog has lifted. If anything, it's deepened and spread," he noted. "Not only do higher oil prices hit consumer sentiment, but they also affect the price of other products like air travel, freight, and shipping. Those higher prices can crowd out spending elsewhere," said the Richmond Fed President. "The outlook for labor is more challenging," he said. "In times of uncertainty, businesses revert to what they can control, which is often cost-cutting. AI looks like an increasingly promising avenue for that: I hear more and more examples of AI use cases delivering concrete results. While we have heard few cases of AI-related layoffs in our district thus far, we have heard that the possibility of AI has led to more cautious hiring." The foggiest part of the outlook is the path forward on inflation, according to the FOMC member. "Shelter price growth, which had been stubborn, has come down. Wage pressure has eased. Increased productivity growth should prove disinflationary. Tariff rates are down for now, which could support promotional activity," said Barkin, adding that b usinesses increasingly recognize their loss of pricing power. "At the same time, it’s hard to ignore the PCE inflation data over the last few months, which suggests ...

Paramount Skydance Corp. may have won out against Netflix Inc. in the fight to buy Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. , but there are enough market cross-currents and doubts around the pending $111 billion deal to make buying shares of the target an enticing wager. Shares of Warner Bros. have fallen more than 7% from their peak in February to around $27, some $4 less than the price Paramount agreed to pay, a classic signal of diminishing probability of the deal getting done. While it’s not unusual for a target’s stock to trade below the price of a deal — there’s always some risk until completion — such a wide gap in this case may be overdone, traders said, as the transaction is much more likely to close than the market is currently pricing in. This creates an attractive opportunity for merger arbitrage. “I think it’s mispriced,” said Frederic Boucher , a merger arb analyst at Berenberg Capital. Arbitrageurs seek to profit from the gap between a stock’s price and what a buyer has agreed to pay, often using leverage as part of the strategy. In this case, if the deal closes by Sept. 30, as Paramount agreed, investors will receive $31 per share. That would represent a nearly 30% annualized return for investors who buy the shares at their current price — a juicier windfall than the profit arbs tend to pocket on such trades, of 3 to 4 percentage points above overnight borrowing rates. The months-long bidding war over Warner Bros. ended last month when Paramount — the TV, film and media empire controlled by David Ellison — sweetened its offer for the storied Hollywood studio to $31 per share, prompting Netflix to bow out. Now the deal, one of the biggest in entertainment history, faces regulatory scrutiny. Read More: Paramount Beats Netflix in Months-Long Fight for Warner Bros. Paramount argued during the takeover fight that its proposal would have an easier time winning antitrust clearance from the Trump administration than Netflix. Ellison and his team had advocated for the dea...

The a 52-year-old content creator from East Sussex sleeps on a wide shelf in her hallway so that her two children, 21 and 18, can have their own rooms. And yet, she says, she has “enough”. She doesn’t hanker after a bigger house or shinier car. “Having fewer things is freedom,” she says. Kilpatrick, who shares such ideas with her 104K Instagram followers ( @not.needing.new ), is part of a small but growing community of “enough-luencers”. The concept is similar to deinfluencing – where content creators discourage followers from buying into trends – but is also about celebrating already having enough, and, crucially, feeling happier for it. In her new book, Not Needing New: A Practical Guide to Finding the Joy of Enough, Kilpatrick lists the benefits of living with less: “An increased sense of calm, less anxiety through clutter, free time away from maintaining the home, a healthier bank balance and reduced debt, children who are learning how to manage delayed gratification.” Continue reading...

Which is a shame because in the centre of the borough there aren’t that many green spaces.” Continue reading...

Hanizam/iStock via Getty Images By Victor Ko Why asset allocators should take a closer look at one of private markets' most compelling opportunities. The secondary private equity market has entered a new era, one defined by scale, sophistication and structural permanence. With $240 billion of transaction volume in 2025, up nearly 48% over the prior year’s record of $162 billion, 1 and GP-led transactions becoming a major liquidity tool across private markets, the opportunity set for secondary investors has never been larger or more diverse. For asset allocators seeking return enhancement, portfolio diversification and improved liquidity management within their private markets programs, secondaries represent one of the most compelling opportunities available today. But in a market defined by complexity and uncertainty, where alpha can be generated by relationships, experience and rigorous underwriting, we believe manager selection is a primary consideration. Structural Tailwinds That Endure The secondary market’s rise appears structural rather than cyclical, underpinned by durable, long-term forces. The sheer scale of private equity creates an ever-expanding opportunity set. The combined NAV of private market funds reached $14.5 trillion by the end of 2024—nearly double the $7.4 trillion recorded in 2019 2 —creating a vastly larger pool of assets with the potential to be offered into the secondary market. As this NAV grows, so too does the supply of secondary investment opportunities. Despite the secondary market growing approximately fourfold since 2014, secondaries trading remains low at just 1 – 2% of total private markets NAV. 2 Even a modest increase from these historically low turnover levels would have a substantial impact on transaction volume, and as LPs become more active in managing their private markets holdings and GPs more sophisticated in managing investor cash-flow needs, that proportion is likely to rise regardless of the broader exit and liquidity e...

Over the past year, the two leaders in the obesity drug market, Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) and Novo Nordisk (NYSE: NVO) , have lagged broader equities, though the latter has performed substantially worse than the former. Still, analysts predict that this therapeutic area will soar over the next decade, and there is a good chance these two will maintain their edge over their peers given their pipelines. But which one is a better buy? Eli Lilly's weight loss medicine, Zepbound, and Novo Nordisk's Wegovy have gone head-to-head in a clinical trial. The former emerged victorious, leading to a mean weight loss of 20.2% compared to the latter's 13.7% in the 72-week study. It's no wonder, then, that Zepbound has been gaining significant traction and now holds the lead in this market, despite Wegovy being approved more than two years before it.
