Jonathan Kitchen Stocks tied to artificial intelligence themes have dominated gains in ownership breadth over the past year, underscoring continued investor rotation into the sector, according to a Bank of America note citing FactSet data. Palantir Technologies ( PLTR ) topped the list, with the share of funds holding the stock rising to 32% from 8% a year earlier, marking a 24 percentage point increase. GE Vernova ( GEV ) followed, with ownership climbing 15 points to 37%, while Amphenol ( APH ) and Western Digital ( WDC ) also posted double-digit gains. The trend reflects broad-based institutional accumulation across both established semiconductor names and newer AI-linked plays. Broadcom ( AVGO ), a key beneficiary of AI-driven demand for custom chips, saw ownership rise 12 points to 75%, one of the highest penetration levels among large-cap stocks. Healthcare names such as Gilead Sciences ( GILD ) and McKesson ( MCK ) also featured on the list, suggesting that the breadth expansion is not limited strictly to pure-play AI firms but extends to companies benefiting from data-driven and operational efficiencies. Meanwhile, megacap technology firms, including Meta Platforms ( META ), Advanced Micro Devices ( AMD ), and Arista Networks ( ANET ), continued to attract incremental fund ownership, reinforcing their central role in AI infrastructure and deployment. Rightmove Plc is facing a £1.5 billion ($2 billion) class action lawsuit over allegations that it abused its dominant position in the UK online property listings market, sending shares down the most in almost five months. Lawyers for Jeremy Newman, a former panel member at the UK competition regulator, said he filed a legal action on Wednesday, claiming that the website charged thousands of estate agents and developers excessive and unfair subscription fees. The claim is being brought on an opt-out basis, meaning that any Rightmove subscriber who paid fees since 2019 is eligible under the claim, according to a spokesman. The claim is being filed at the specialist competition tribunal. Shares in Rightmove fell as much as 8.7% on Wednesday, the most since November. The FTSE 100 firm said in a statement that this “claim is without merit, and we will defend it vigorously.” “Our platform continues to provide a growing range of constantly evolving products and features which facilitate market transparency, liquidity and confidence,” Rightmove added.

Bizarrely, the Pharaohs did qualify for the first World Cup, in 1930, but missed their boat from Marseille to South America after a storm delayed them . Continue reading...
