John_Wijsman/iStock via Getty Images U.S. existing home sales increased 3.2% month-over-month to 4.17M in May, vs. 4.08M consensus and 4.04M in the prior month (revised from 4.02M), according to data released by the National Association of Realtors on Tuesday. Year-over-year, growth remained the same. By region, sales increased in the Northeast, Midwest, and South, and were unchanged in the West month-over-month. Year-over-year, an increase was seen in the Midwest, South, and West, and a fall in the Northeast. "More Americans are on the move, with home sales rising to the highest level since December," said NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun. "Improving affordability is helping drive this momentum. Even with mortgage rates ticking up compared to earlier in the year, they remain lower than a year ago and are essentially at the long-term historical average," said Yun. "Income gains are also outpacing home price growth by a small margin in most parts of the country," added the economist. Housing inventory rose 3.3% from April and 0.6% from May 2025 to 1.55M units. Median existing-home price for all housing types stood at $429,300, a 1.3% increase from one year ago. The increase was the 35th consecutive month of year-over-year price rise. The Housing Affordability Index registered at 105.6, up from 97.5 a year ago. A nine-month-old baby was also mauled to death last year by a dog of that breed. Continue reading...

However, there are ways to reduce their carbon footprint. As water becomes increasingly precious, hacks for our loos that cap its usage are useful, as are smart showerheads that cut down on water, particularly as baths these days feel like a guilty indulgence. Swap plastic-packaged and chemical-loaded products, such as bleach and multipurpose sprays, for eco-friendly ones, and buy secondhand good-as-new fixtures. From bamboo loo roll to solid shampoo bars, here are my tips for a more planet-friendly bathroom. Continue reading...

This year’s World Cup serves up yet more soulless, corporate animal slop to leave fans pining for the days of unique talismans World Cup Willie marched on to the scene in 1966 with a spiky mane, bovver boy stance, bulbous brogues and – intriguingly for a World Cup held entirely in England – a union jack shirt. The product of a five-minute sketch by children’s illustrator Reg Hoye, who went on to create a red devil mascot for Manchester United, Willie was a marketing sensation. The first World Cup mascot featured on everything from bedspreads to beermats, ceramics to cereal boxes. Fast forward 60 years and it’s clear how far World Cup mascots have fallen since their peak in the 1970s and 80s. In 2026 we have what’s largely been served up for the past 32 years: soulless, corporate, anthropomorphic animal slop. Meet Canadian moose Maple, Mexican jaguar Zayu and American bald eagle Clutch, who look like rejects from a straight-to-streaming DreamWorks sequel. Continue reading...

Audi provided flights from Washington, DC, to Munich, Germany, and accommodation so Ars could see the Q7, as well as the Q9. We also drove the new RS5. Ars does not accept paid editorial content. MUNICH, GERMANY—Audi is having a bit of an SUV renaissance lately. Over the past 18 months, it has brought out a new electric Q6 and replaced the midsize Q5 , and later this summer we'll get to see the Q9 , a full-size leviathan with the Escalade in its sights. But today it's the turn of an all-new version of the Q7, and the North America-only SQ7, both of which go on sale later this year for model year 2027. The standard Q7 will come to the US with a twin-turbo 2.9 L V6 that generates 429 hp (320 kW) and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm). Meanwhile, the SQ7 borrows the 591 hp (441 kW), 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) V8 as found under the hood of the RS7 . But there's no plug-in hybrid version slated as far as we know. Both models use an eight-speed automatic transmission (ZF's very capable 8HP) and all-wheel drive. Audi says these are the quickest-accelerating Q7 and SQ7s it has made, and it also says they should be much better to drive, too. Standard Q7s will ride on steel springs or can option the adaptive air suspension that's standard on the SQ7—this gets an optional third mode that lowers the car by more than an inch (30 mm). Presented by Norton For 39 days this summer, the planet will be doing roughly the same thing at the same time. The 2026 World Cup spans 104 matches across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with billions of people likely to watch over the course of the tournament. It could very well be one of the largest shared events the internet has ever been asked to carry. What’s changed since the last tournament isn’t the scale, it’s the screen. For a growing share of that audience, the match won’t come through television. It’ll come through a browser tab. The problem is the browser you have today simply does not give you a frictionless and reliable way to watch the World Cup for free. In the U.S., a majority of viewers now expect to stream the tournament digitally rather than watch on cable or satellite. It only works when you have a paid subscription. But there is a challenge — for example, fans coming from Europe for who want to watch the game in the U.S. just like they are able to watch it for free in Europe. Watching the World Cup has been harder than it should be Ask anyone who has tried to watch a tournament online and the answers are remarkably consistent across every cycle. Streams stutter and buffer when it matters most. The “free stream” someone forwarded turns out to be a chain of lookalike sites and dead-end links. And the legitimate platforms want a credit card, and maybe a generous helping of personal data too before they’ll play a single minute. One company’s bet: Neo Norton’s answer is Neo , a browser built on the premise that protection and access can live in the browser software itself rather than in a stack of add-ons the user has to go find, install, and pay for. It's less about adding features than removing friction. Remove the steps between a person and the thing they came to do. “The tournament is the kind of moment the modern web was supposed to be great at: everyone, everywhere, on the same thing in real time,” says Howie Xu, Chief AI ...

In this article JPM Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNT A person exits the JPMorgan Chase & Co. headquarters on Feb. 17, 2026, in New York City. Zamek | View Press | Corbis News | Getty Images JPMorgan Chase plans to deploy artificial intelligence agents later this year that can work autonomously for far longer than existing versions, marking another milestone in the corporate adoption of AI, CNBC has learned exclusively. AI agents are evolving from tools that complete single tasks to digital workers that manage workflows across multiple steps and disparate software programs, Derek Waldron , JPMorgan chief analytics officer, told CNBC in an interview. "We've entered now the era of long-running autonomous agents," Waldron said. That "means that agents don't just run for two or three minutes to carry out a goal or some instructions of a human, they can run for an hour or two." Long-running agents have already emerged over the past year as examples including Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenClaw went viral . JPMorgan's planned deployment, however, suggests the technology is close to clearing the security and governance hurdles that have slowed adoption inside large companies. JPMorgan, run by CEO Jamie Dimon since 2006 , is the biggest U.S. bank by assets and has a nearly $20 billion annual technology budget . While much of the conversation around generative AI has focused on model intelligence, tech leaders are increasingly focused on a different question, said Waldron: How long can AI systems operate effectively before requiring human intervention? That concept, which Waldron called "intellectual coherence," has been helped by improvements in how AI models reason, enabling them to be more of a "team manager than an individual worker," he said. "Just like how people function, team managers can parse out a problem and delegate activities, and teams can run for a lot longer to do more complex things," Waldron said. Other recent advances that have helped agent...

Amazon Prime Day 2026 is getting closer, and it’s possible you might have some questions about the sale. When does it start? Why is it in June instead of July? And, most importantly, when will the deals go live? We have concrete answers to those questions, and we’ll have a lot more Prime Day coverage coming soon as Amazon rolls out more deals. When does Prime Day start? Amazon Prime Day 2026 officially starts on June 23rd, 2026 at 12:01AM PT, and ends on June 27, 2026 at 12:01AM PT. Some items will stay discounted for the entire period, or at least for as long as they remain in stock, while others will only run for a shorter chunk of the four day sale. In its article about Prime Day 2026 timing, Amazon noted that special deals will go live at 12AM, 8AM, and 1PM PT each day throughout the sale. Why is Prime Day in June this year? While there have been exceptions, Prime Day has historically occurred in July. So, what’s up with the recent change? Amazon’s Jamil Ghani told Reuters that the decision came down to some big events overlapping with its usual July launch. “This year, we have the (FIFA) World Cup […] We’ve got also the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, and so we thought this week (beginning June 22) was the best week for us to hold Prime Day,” Ghani said. When do early Prime Day deals start? The rollout of early deals is already underway , and Amazon is highlighting deals on household essentials and Amazon devices like Kindle accessories and Ring cameras. It’s safe to assume that there will be several dozen deals available ahead of Prime Day, and we’ll be bringing them to you, so stay tuned. Do I need to be a Prime member to save? While there are likely to be some deals available to all shoppers, Amazon Prime members will have exclusive access to many discounts. If you haven’t signed up for Prime before, you can claim a 30 day free trial. Young adults and students can claim six months of Prime membership for free, after which you’ll be charged $7.49 per...

Many investors are excitedly waiting for the SpaceX initial public offering (IPO). With its dominance in space launches and Elon Musk's leadership, many investors undoubtedly want to own this stock. Unfortunately, its size presents a challenge. It will debut on the market at an expected market value of just under $1.8 trillion, instantly making it one of the 10 largest publicly traded companies. This means for it to become a 10-bagger, it has to reach an $18 trillion market capitalization, a notable feat when no stock has yet reached $6 trillion. This mathematical challenge should have investors looking elsewhere for potential 10-bagger stocks. While no analyst can guarantee a stock will grow that much, these three stand a strong chance of achieving such a milestone. Continue reading
